We previously reported that the Honda City e:HEV powered by the 1.5-litre i-MMD full hybrid petrol engine made its official debut in Thailand alongside the Honda City Hatchback. Now the car in its hero Obsidian Blue Pearl colour is on display at the 2020 Thailand International Motor Expo (TIME).
The Honda City e:HEV in Thailand is identical to the Honda City RS that will soon make its arrival in Malaysia come January 2021.
If you’re wondering about the name difference, Honda Malaysia has decided to simplify the hybrid City’s name to RS because, well, “e:HEV” is quite a mouthful.
While both i-MMD powered Cities are identical down to the e:HEV badge on the back, Honda Malaysia will not be offering the City RS in this Obsidian Blue Pearl colour you see on this page nor the Crystal Black Pearl colour.
Instead, the City RS in Malaysia will only be available in 3 colours; Passion Red Pearl - which is a more vibrant version of Thailand’s Ignite Red Metallic - as well as Platinum White Pearl colour and Modern Steel Metallic.
The Obsidian Blue Pearl colour is no stranger to us, Honda Malaysia previously had it as an option for the previous generation Honda Accord and the pre-facelift Honda CR-V. The colour was dropped for both cars due to its lack of demand in our country.
But we have to admit that the 2020 Honda City in Obsidian Blue makes the B-segment sedan very striking. Would you like this colour make its return to Malaysia? Make sure to let your dealers know about it!
To recap, the 2020 Honda City RS will come with Honda LaneWatch, 6 airbags and a full suite of Honda Sensing ADAS. It will also feature an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The fifth-generation all-new 2020 Honda City made its official debut in the Malaysian market back in October, but the Honda City RS will only make its official arrival in January 2021 so stay tuned for the news!
