Not content with letting the Isuzu D-Max and Toyota Hilux run away with the 'sales champion' gongs, Ford Thailand has spruced up the 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor X with racier styling.
Not content with letting the Isuzu D-Max and Toyota Hilux run away with the 'sales champion' gongs, Ford Thailand has spruced up the 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor X with racier styling.
The Ranger Raptor X comes with "Over the Top" stripes running across the bonnet, roof, and tailgate, along with side body stripes. It's got a darker set of wheels too, now in 'Ashphalt Black'.
Complementing the over-the-topness are matte black front and rear bumpers, grille, door handles, side mirror covers, fender vents and also the wheel cap.
Capping off the exterior aesthetics is a choice of four colours: Arctic White, Absolute Black, Ford Performance Blue, and Conquer Grey, as pictured here.
Moving inside, gone are the original blue stitching from the 'normal' Ranger Raptor, here replaced by red contrast stitching on the steering wheel and dashboard.
Enunciating the aesthetics are hydrographic and 'Black Alley' accents across the dashboard and door cards.
Changes aren't so apparent under the hood as this Ranger Raptor X comes with the same powertrain, driving modes, suspension, brakes, and specially-designed BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres from the run-of-the-mill Raptor.
The stock suspension in this case constitutes FOX Position Sensitive Damping (PSD) shock absorbers and a sophisticated Watt's linkage rear suspension.
A 10-speed automatic gearbox pairs the 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine, good for a maximum 213 PS and 500 Nm of torque.
Other than that, it gets the Terrain Management System (TMS), affording 6 driving modes, including the 'Baja' mode that's inspired by Mexico's eponymous desert rally series.
Besides the 6 airbags and other passive safety systems, the Raptor X bundles along ADAS as well.
Features include autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning (FCW), lane keeping assist (LKA), and auto high beam (AHB).
Commanding a THB 1.729 million price tag (~ RM 227k), it remains Thailand's most expensive pick-up truck.
Meanwhile in Malaysia, we also have the Ranger Raptor X, but sans stripes and some of the trimmings seen here. Prices here start from RM 216,888, on the road without insurance.
