Although not quite reinventing the wheel (those are still round), the boffins at the Center of Automotive Management (CAM) have awarded the 2020 Porsche Taycan as the most scientifically innovative car in the world.
CAM’s Automotive Innovations report reveals that the all-electric sports car comes with 27 groundbreaking developments and features, 13 of which are the world's first.
Innovations that were recognised by the scientists include its 800-volt architecture, two-speed transmission on the rear axle, recuperative power of up to 265 kW and best drag coefficient in the segment (from 0.22).
The CAM is an independent scientific institute that does consulting and empirical automotive research at the University of Applied Sciences (FHDW), Germany. For this round of awards, they researched around 250 vehicles.
All in, the Taycan has already won over 40 international awards, including World Car of the Year 2020, German Car of the Year and The China Green Car of the Year.
