At the media test drive event today, Proton has confirmed that the 2020 Proton X50 will feature Auto Park Assist. This is part of the Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), which is classified as level 2 semi-autonomous driving.
The Auto Park Assist feature is able to assist drivers in manoeuvring the car into perpendicular parking (shown as vertical parking in the photo) spots and parallel parking spots. It also helps in exiting parallel parking spots.
The system actively controls the steering, throttle, brakes, and gear shifts to help the driver navigate into a parking space.
This feature is only available in the range-topping Flagship variant, which get the direct injection 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine that makes 177 PS/255 Nm. Other variants get a port injection 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine with 150 PS/226 Nm. These are tested in Malaysia for 1.9m km.
