The Toyota Tundra is the bigger brother to the Toyota Hilux and is only available in the North American market. The current generation has been on sale since 2007, which makes the Proton Exora a toddler in comparison.

After 15 years in production, Toyota will finally launch the third-generation Tundra. Though details on when exactly that is still unknown, the Japanese giant has released an image of what the highest-spec TRD Pro will look like and it’s menacing for sure.

Taking a playbook from its equally massive American rivals, the TRD Pro variant of the all-new Tundra sports a huge grille with TOYOTA spelled out in full and covering nearly the entire front end.

It does look a little polarizing but bear in mind, the lower trims could look a little more conventional but we just can’t simply ignore the massive grille. Perhaps full-size pick-up buyers in America might be willing to shove their money to a Toyota salesman to get it.

Aside from the sole photo of the front quarter, Toyota had also revealed the name of the new powertrain that will go under the 2022 Tundra. Called iForce Max, the new engine could be a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 engine that is also used in the new Land Cruiser 300 Series.

Though the Toyota Hilux doesn’t share the same platform as the Tundra, there is a chance that what is seen here could be applied on the next-gen Hilux. Malaysia’s favourite pick-up truck (and Australia’s best-selling car) could be replaced in 2023.

The next-gen Hilux and Fortuner could also see a few upgrades too in terms of a 3.3-litre V6 diesel engine (271 PS/650 Nm) as well as a GR Sport trim.
