The all-new, 2022 Honda BR-V could make its market debut in Malaysia as early as next year. This is following news that the all new Honda BR-V will be launched in Indonesia by the end of this year.
According to a report by Otodriver, production will start in Indonesia in December 2021. Apart from that, the all-new BR-V will also be assembled in Malaysia and India.
“The next-gen BR-V will only be made in Indonesia, India and Malaysia. Malaysia will bring in CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units from Indonesia," explained the anonymous source to OtoDriver.
"Regarding the launch in Indonesia, it is estimated to be the end of this year, production will start in December," he added.
Indonesia will be the home base for the next-gen BR-V. It will serve as an export hub to Thailand, the Philippines, Mexico and South Africa,” the source continued.
"Besides that, there is India, which will come after Indonesia and will probably have a diesel engine option," he concluded.
In Malaysia, the outgoing 7-seater Honda BR-V is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine (120 PS, 145 Nm) paired to a CVT-type transmission. We do expect this combo to continue powering the next-gen BR-V.
Prices of the Honda BR-V range from RM 86,726 to RM 93,420, with SST discounts applied. However, given that all-new 2022 Honda BR-V is likely to feature Honda Sensing, it's unrealistic to expect prices to remain the same.
