Once the playground of the Toyota Hilux, Thailand’s pick-up truck segment has now shifted towards being a playground for the new Isuzu D-Max, with the latter commanding a whopping 51.1 percent market share for June 2022 and an equally impressive 46.6 percent share for the first half of 2022 according to a report by Headlight Mag.

The Thai market saw pick-up sales culminate in a total of 33,433 units for the month of June 2022. From that, the D-Max accounted for 17,076 units, or the aforementioned 51.1 percent.

Coming in second is its archnemesis, the Toyota Hilux Revo. Accumulating sales of 11,175 units in the same month, the Toyota still commands a respectable 33.4 percent.

Those two trucks alone make up a staggering 84.5 percent of the market for June 2022.

Coming in sixth is the MG Extender with 303 units and a 0.9 percent share. If the Extender looks familiar, that’s because it’s sold here as the Maxus T60. MG rebadges the T60 for the Thai market.

Speaking of the T60, a little refresh with some new options is in the works for the Malaysian market and should be revealed very soon.
