Chery continues its aggressive push into international markets with the launch of the 2022 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro in South Africa. The new C-segment SUV will slot between the Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro which are already on sale. The Tiggo 7 Pro comes offered in two variants and priced at ZAR 409,900 (~RM 112,000) and ZAR 444,900 (~RM 122,000) respectively.
Like its siblings, the Tiggo 7 Pro also features aesthetic cues under the ‘Life in Motion’ design language. The design language is obvious in the galaxy-inspired geometric matrix diamond front grille and elongated headlamps.
The headlamps are also designed to draw the eye to the sharp shoulder lines to create a visual flow from the front to the side profile of the SUV.
To make the car look more menacing, the Tiggo 7 Pro features a deeply-scalloped lower bumper, stylish 18-inch rims, and a concave-to-convex curve in the side profile. To add more sportiness, the Executive variant also adds on red brake callipers.
The rear end is dominated by a lightbar tail lamp that stretches the entire width of the tailgate while dual faux exhausts come as standard on all variants.
Inside, the Tiggo 7 Pro’s seats are wrapped in black synthetic leather. The driver gets a seven-inch fully digital instrument panel while a 10.25-inch LCD touchscreen display houses the infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Like all Pro models, the Tiggo 7 Pro also comes standard with voice command that allows drivers to control functions such as the climate control, windows, and even the panoramic sunroof. Other than that, the car also comes with a wireless charging pad and multi-colour ambient lighting.
On the safety front, the Tiggo 7 Pro has a full five-star rating at the Chinese New Car Assessment Programme (C-NCAP). Both variants come with Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
The Executive variant adds six airbags and a full suite of ADAS that includes Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), and a 360-degree around-view monitor.
Powering the Tiggo 7 Pro is a Chery-designed 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that outputs 156 PS and 210 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels only via a CVT with nine virtual ratios.
Chery Malaysia has basically confirmed that the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is among the Pro Family models that will be launched in Malaysia when the brand makes its official return.
