The Mitsubishi Triton is a capable pick-up truck all things considered. In fact, we think it handles the most car-like among its rivals and yet, it can still be at ease off-road.
For those off-roading warriors who also enjoy a day in the great outdoors, Mitsubishi Motors Germany has just the perfect solution by offering a camper option on the Triton, which is sold as the L200. In collaboration with GentleTent, the pick-up camper merely adds on a large inflatable tent on the roof.
There are two tent options available; the GT Roof which is the one you see on the blue Triton, while another is the GT Pickup which extends to the bed as seen on the silver Triton.
The tent inflates with a portable air compressor or an inflatable watercraft hand pump. Fully inflated, the camper has a 1.5-metre length floor, a 2.1-metre interior height, five ventilation windows with screens, and an entry door.
The tent fits 2 people and is large enough for a full-size mattress, so you can have a comfortable sleep underneath millions of stars.
Both tents aren’t exclusive to the Triton though as GentleTent also offers other inflatable tents for various vehicles. However, Mitsubishi offers them as an option straight from the dealer, albeit only in Germany.
Mitsubishi Motors Germany also offers some additional camping accessories for the pick-up camper including a Primus gas cooker that slides out from the bed, a washbasin, a 12-volt connection, and a water supply.
Prices for the tents start from €2,338 (RM 11,640) for the GT Roof tent and €3,410 (RM 16,630) for the larger GT Pickup tent.
As we mentioned earlier, this is only available in Germany but if you’re thinking of doing your own camper conversion, perhaps using a pick-up truck as a base might be interesting.
