This is the all-new VW ID.4 GTX, the 'GTX' suffix representing VW's electric performance range after the GTD, GTI and GTE models (the 'X' signifying a crossing to electric performance cars, apparently). And this ID.4 GTX is making all the right noises.

Similar to VW's other GT(insert suffix) models(such as the all-electric VW ID.4), the ID.4 GTX is a practical, 4-door that blends everyday usability with a electrifying (pun intended) driving experience, should your mood take you there. The ID.4 GTX sits on VW's all-new modular electric platform dubbed the MEB.

To ensure you know you're in a performance model, VW has sprinkled magic dust all over the ID.4 GTX. GTX badging, high-gloss black air intake grilles, a black roof and rear spoiler, and an anthracite roof bar. Inside, there's red stitching on a predominantly black (with some blue bits) interior, to accentuate sportiness. If you've been in a modern VW, this will feel familiar.

The ID.4 GTX has one electric drive motor on both the front and rear axle. Performance? A combined 303 PS from both motors (curiously, no torque figures as yet). 0-100 km/h is dusted in 6.2 seconds. Somewhat disappointingly, the top speed is capped at 180 km/h. Powering it is a 77kWh lithium ion battery, which can last up to 480 kms.

The VW ID.4 GTX will go on sale in Europe in the summer of 2021. Would we love to see this one in Malaysia? That's a massive yes from me.
