This is the new 2025 BMW iX, now with illuminated grille and extended driving range, up to 701 km

The BMW iX has been on the market for nearly four years, and it’s due for a mid-lifecycle update. For 2025, the BMW iX— which remains the Bavarian marque’s flagship standalone battery EV (BEV) model— has been improved with an even longer driving range, reaching up to 701 km (WLTP test cycle).
BMW says further development of the performance electronics, along with fine-tuning of the wheel bearings and tyres, has reduced energy consumption by up to 8%, depending on the variant.
The new iX lineup has also been renamed. The previous xDrive40 is now called xDrive45, while the xDrive50 and M60 have been renamed xDrive60 and M70 xDrive, respectively.
Interestingly, the model with the longest range is not the entry-level xDrive45 variant but the more powerful xDrive60. Power output has also been increased. Details are as follows:
xDrive45: 94.8 kWh battery capacity, 602 km range, 408 hp, 700 Nm torque
xDrive60: 109.1 kWh battery capacity, 701 km range, 544 hp, 765 Nm torque
M70 xDrive: 108.9 kWh battery capacity, 600 km range, 659 hp, 1,015 Nm torque
All variants feature all-wheel drive and support up to 22 kW of AC charging. The entry-level xDrive45 accepts up to 175 kW of DC charging, while the more powerful xDrive60 and M70 xDrive can accommodate up to 195 kW of DC charging.
The revised grille now comes with optional contour lighting (standard on M70 xDrive), similar to the 7 Series and i7.
The adaptive LED headlights are also new, while the rear design remains largely unchanged, except for subtle tweaks to the rear bumper.
Inside, the iX is mostly unchanged visually, but BMW says the new M multifunction seats offer enhanced lateral support.
Closer to home, BMW Malaysia has reduced its iX lineup to just one variant— the outgoing iX xDrive50 Sport, priced at RM 501,700, inclusive of a 5-year extended warranty and service package.
Since the iX is imported from BMW’s Dingolfing plant in Germany (rather than locally assembled at BMW’s contract manufacturer Inokom’s plant in Kulim, which requires leadtime to retool for a new model), we won’t have to wait long for the new 2025 BMW iX to launch in Malaysia.
