Alongside the introduction of the all-new W223 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the Stuttgart-based also gave its flagship sedan a new key fob.

Despite all the technology buzz surrounding the brand-new S-Class, one may find it weird that Mercedes-Benz chose to use a traditional-looking key, instead of a fancier display key found on the BMW 7 Series.

The main reason why Mercedes-Benz chose to use such a key is because the company already offers the Mercedes Me Connect app – its all-in-one app that features a host of services that can be installed on Android or Apple devices.

As such, Mercedes-Benz does not see the need to develop a display key like BMW. 

Earlier, we mentioned that almost all the new features found in the W223 S-Class will trickle down to mainstream Mercedes-Benz models, and the key fob seen here is no different. It will be found on future Mercedes-Benz models in the near future.
