A woman was seriously injured after the iron gate of a house that was crashed into by a Proton Saga fell on her yesterday morning, 2-August in Taman Luyang, Kota Kinabalu.

According to Utusan Malaysia, the incident involving victim Maria Jari - a 41-year-old Indonesian woman - took place around 10 am. 

The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) Sabah received an emergency call regarding the incident at 10:25 am before six officers and two vehicles were despatched to the scene.

Looking at a photo shared by the JBPM Sabah, the crashed Proton Saga was sitting right on top of the gate it crashed into while the victim was pinned under it.

JPBM Sabah's Public Relations Officer, Mohd. Affendy K Ramin said the driver of Proton Saga was believed to have lost control and crashed into the gate of the house, which subsequently hit the victim. Upon arrival, the rescue team swiftly removed the gate that was pinning the victim. 

The victim was successfully extricated and given initial treatment by the Emergency Medical Services Assistance Unit (EMRS) before being sent to hospital for further treatment.

While we are glad she's alright, this could have ended so much worse for the victim. Here's hoping she makes a full recovery.
