As Malaysians settle into the third round of Movement Control Order (MCO), the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) have been busy setting up highway roadblocks around the nation. Bukit Aman has confirmed that these highway roadblocks will not remain static but will move after a few hours.
In an interview with The Star, Bukit Aman Traffic and Enforcement Department deputy director, Senior ACP Datuk Mohd Nadzri Husain, said the reason for having non-static roadblocks is to ensure strict enforcement of the interstate travel ban.

Other than that, it is also to ensure that those with relevant documents to travel adhered to traffic rules during the festive period.
Roadblocks would be set up along the North-South Highway and the East Coast Highway. To ensure the roadblocks are effective, PDRM has separated the highway network in the peninsular into 5 zones – northern, central A and B, southern, and eastern zones, and 28 sectors.
As of May 11, the respective state contingents have also set up 349 roadblocks in their respective areas.
In the same interview, Nadzri also addressed complaints about the congestion roadblocks have caused. He clarified that the roadblocks are necessary as it had to thoroughly check the documents provided by motorists.
He also revealed that PDRM has no choice but to cautiously check each document as there have been cases where people tried to cheat their way through using photocopied letters or other fake documents.
Nadzri urges all Malaysians to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the instated MCO 3.0 to help curb the spread of the Covid-19 situation.
