Despite being the first day of total lockdown during the third Movement Control Order (MCO 3.0), the Integrated Transport Information System (ITIS) by the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) reported heavy traffic build-up on several roads in Klang Valley.
ITIS tweeted at 10 am today (1-June) that there was heavy traffic heading to the Sungai Besi toll plaza from the Technology Park. Meanwhile, traffic in the opposite direction is slow-moving as well.
Other than that, an earlier tweet also reported that traffic was slow-moving from Tun Razak to Bandar Tasik Selatan. While Bulatan Pahang roundabout in the city centre also reported slow traffic akin to pre-total lockdown days.
The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) also reported that there was heavy traffic from the Perai Lama toll to the Perai toll this morning.
It seems traffic is equally heavy in the evening
As of the time of writing, authorities are unsure yet if the cause of the heavy traffic in the city is due to the multiple roadblocks set up during the total lockdown.
The total lockdown, or unofficially known as the Full MCO (FMCO), was implemented when the country hit 9,000 new positive Covid-19 cases.
