Just days after the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) issued a warning not to repair cars in the emergency lane, another two deaths were reported. Two men were killed when a trailer rammed into them as they were trying to refuel their stalled lorry on the emergency lane along the North-South Highway near Rembau.
The two deceased are Saifuddin Abdullah, 50, who works as a lorry driver, and R Morgana Krishnan, 49, a Puspakom runner.
Rembau District police Deputy Superintendent, Hazri Mohamad, told Bernama that the incident happened at around 12.30 am on 28-December-2021.

At the time of the incident, Saifuddin’s lorry had run out of fuel and was stopped in the emergency lane. The police believes that Morgana had brought fuel on his motorcycle to help refuel Saifuddin’s lorry.
Both men were standing on the right side of the lorry when the trailer that came from Ayer Keroh, Melaka, rammed into them causing them to soar and fall a few feet away. Both victims sustained injuries to their heads and died at the scene.

Hazri also noted that the driver of the trailer had abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene. The police are still currently searching for the driver.
This is the third incident in December where road users stopped in the emergency lane were killed while trying to repair their stalled car.
There isnât a time in memory that doesnât involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle womenâs magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
