Bermaz Motor has introduced the updated Mazda MX-5 RF in Malaysia, after the model was introduced globally mid last year. 

For starters, the updated Mazda MX-5 RF now gets a slight increase in power, as Mazda engineers have managed to squeeze out an additional 24 PS and 5 Nm of torque out of the 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G petrol engine. As such, the updated MX-5 RF now outputs 184 PS at 7,000 rpm and 205 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. 

Engine update aside, the updated Mazda MX-5 RF also gets support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay via its Mazda Connect infotainment system. Mazda has also given the updated MX-5 RF telescopic steering adjustment, which previously featured only tilt adjustment. 

However, with these updates in place, prices of the updated MX-5 RF have also increased. The six-speed manual variant is priced from RM 259,154 (up RM 36,877), while the automatic is priced from RM 260,354 (up RM 33,077). Both prices are on-the-road, without insurance. 

Price hike aside, both variants are backed by Bermaz’s 5-year/100,000 km manufacturer warranty (whichever comes first) and a five-year free maintenance package, inclusive of labour, parts, and lubricants.
