The USA-spec Toyota Corolla Cross made its debut back in June and will be hitting American dealerships in October.
For the US market, the Toyota Corolla Cross will be manufactured at the new Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA Inc (MTMUS) plant in Huntsville, Alabama.
As a refresher, back in 2018, Toyota and Mazda established a new joint-venture company called Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA Inc. Ground-breaking works started in late-2018.
The plant, according to both companies, is capable of producing 300,000 vehicles annually, split between 150,000 units of Mazda's upcoming crossover model and 150,000 units of Toyota's crossover model.
With that said, the Toyota Corolla Cross will be the first model to be manufactured at the new joint venture plant. Production of Mazda's SUV will commence at a later date.
As for the US-spec Toyota Corolla Cross, it only gets one engine across six variants – a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre Dynamic Force petrol engine, good for a peak power output of 169 PS and 203 Nm. Power is sent via a Direct-Shift CVT and American customers can choose between front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) drivetrains.

The Toyota Safety Sense (TSS 2.0) ADAS suite comes standard on all versions, coming with full-range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Pre-Collision System (PCS), and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA).
Prices of the US-spec Toyota Corolla Cross are expected to be announced when it goes on sale next month.
In Malaysia, the Corolla Cross gets a smaller 1.8-litre petrol engine (139 PS, 172 Nm). It is priced from RM 124,000 (1.8G) and RM 129,2660 (1.8V) here, sans insurance, road-tax, and with SST exemption, valid until 31-December 2021.
