The 2022 Nissan Serena S-Hybrid facelift is one of the cars that does its thing quietly. You don't hear much about it, but when you actually come face to face with it and see what it has to offer...chances are you'd be a customer.
Data is a fair – but oftentimes cold – mistress, so we left our Racelogic timing gear at the office, and brought along some colleagues for a little daytrip out to the seaside. It's a family car, so what better way to test its family-friendliness than by actually getting people to use it like it's supposed to, right?
The results are in the video below, and hey, knowing Adrian, you'd probably learn a couple of new things the Serena had that you didn't before this.

The 2022 Nissan Serena S-Hybrid is available in two variants here in Malaysia. For RM 149,888 you'll get the Highway Star variant, while upping that to RM 162,888 nets you the Premium Highway Star (as tested), which comes with a whole bunch of additional features.
Regardless, both are powered by a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated MR20DD engine, with 150 PS and 200 Nm, with power sent to the front wheels via a CVT. Besides the requisite passive safety items, this Serena facelift comes with Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) ADAS features as below:
- Forward collision warning
- Autonomous braking with pedestrian detection up to 5 kph
- Blind spot warning
- Lane departure warning
- Rear cross traffic alert
