From now on, Volkswagen’s most powerful cars will bear a very different looking R. This is because Volkswagen R has launched a brand new R logo.
The letter R is now stripped down to its essential components giving it a more distinct and sleek look.
Klaus Bischoff, Head of Volkswagen Design Centre, and his team developed the new R logo together with Technical Development and the Volkswagen R Marketing Team.

As the sportiest part of Volkswagen, designers carefully drew the R to be characterised by the pristine line width and clearly horizontal arrangement that features dynamic curves.

The design of the new R logo was created to not only give off the impression of power but define Volkswagen’s commitment to performance and exclusivity.
The first car to carry the new R logo will be on the Atlas Cross Sport R-Line in North America before the rest of the Volkswagen R range will start sporting the same logo.

There isn’t a time in memory that doesn’t involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle women’s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
