The production of Volkswagen Tiguan just broke six million mark globally, making it as the best-selling Volkswagen model in the world over the Golf. Over two generations have been produced, with the outgoing, second-generation model grabbing the most amount of sales since it was introduced in 2016.

According to Volkswagen, a brand new Tiguan rolls of the production line every 35 seconds on average out of its four plants across four different time zones. A total of 910,926 units of current-generation Tiguan was produced last year, compared to the 150,000 units of the first-generation when it first debuted in 2007.

A facelifted model will be introduced soon after it was caught on a leaked photoshoot alongside the official teaser posted by VW themselves. Over the years, the Tiguan line up has been expanded to include a 7-seater Allspace model, plug-in hybrid GTE, R-line and as well as the upcoming fiery hot R version.

Volkswagen also states the Tiguan is one of the three most popular SUVs in the world, further backing its best-selling model claim. If this is an indication of how impressive the upcoming Tiguan facelift will be, we are putting our hopes high up in the air.
