Volvo Car Malaysia welcomes new Managing Director, Charles Frump 01

Volvo Car Malaysia today officially welcomes Charles Frump as its new Managing Director. Frump will take over from Nalin Jain who previously served as Managing Director from 2019 to 2020. The former will continue Jain’s responsibilities in overseeing the company’s overall operations and driving Volvo’s electrification vision in Malaysia.

Frump joins Volvo Car Malaysia from Volvo Car India, where he had been serving as Managing Director since 2017. He played an instrumental role in accelerating the growth of Volvo’s market share and earnings in India’s competitive luxury car segment.

Frump’s association with Volvo Cars dates back to 2009, where he worked as the Director of Marketing in Volvo Car Japan. With more than 20 years of rich automotive experience in different markets and dynamics across Asia, the United States of America and Europe, Frump has also held global, regional, and local roles in the areas of Marketing, Sales, Customer Service and Network Management.

Regarding his new appointment, Frump said: “I am excited to embark on a new chapter of my journey with Volvo in a new market. I see Malaysia as a crossroad of the places I have been in the past, and I look forward to working closely with the local team, individual by individual, to build our strengths.”

Frump’s appointment follows Volvo’s global announcement of becoming a fully electric car company by 2030. More recently, Volvo Cars launched its ‘Ultimate Safety Test’ campaign to declare climate change as the greatest safety challenge humankind faces today.

As part of its commitment to sustainability and electrification in Malaysia, Volvo Car Malaysia now has a fully electrified fleet of models on sale. The company launched the XC40 PHEV in February and became the first automotive brand in the country to have a complete PHEV line-up for all car models.

There isn’t a time in memory that doesn’t involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle women’s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
