At Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) annual business review, the company has confirmed that the locally-assembled (CKD) 2020 Volvo S60 will be launched in Malaysia in 2020, replacing the fully imported (CBU) units that were launched in 2019.

VCM did not disclose the timeline of the launch but assured that the pricing and specification of the S60 CKD model will be identical to the CBU units that were offered in a sole S60 T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid R-design priced at RM 295,888 (OTR without insurance).

The initial batches of the S60 T8 were imported from the USA while the CKD units will be made at Volvo's manufacturing plant in Shah Alam. VCM has plans for the Malaysian-made S60 to be exported to neighbouring countries such as Thailand, Indonesia and Philipines.

The T8 Twin Engine PHEV packs a 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine assisted by an electric motor to give a combined output of 407 PS and 640 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system handle the power transfer.

Specification wise, it’s furnished with the R-Design exterior kit, 19-inch wheels, Nappa leather upholstery, 14-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system, 360-degree surround-view camera, panoramic sunroof, the full suite of City Safety Advanced Driver Assistance System and Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving feature.
