In the grand finals of the second season of the largest national eSports racing event in Malaysia - the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Velocity eSports Championship, the overall winners shared a prize pool of RM 70,000.

After an intense day battling with the top 10 best virtual racers in Malaysia, the championship winner of TGR Velocity eSports season 2 was crowned and went home with RM 20,000.

Proton launches new logo and tagline, X70 CKD first to receive new logo

Two years after partnering with Geely, Proton announced today a new logo today and new tagline to mark a new chapter in the company's growth.

The new, almost 'Thundercat-like' logo, is an evolution of Proton's current Malaysian tiger motive design, but has been polished further to emphasize the four core elements of the brand's message - strength, agility, courageous, and pride.

 

Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan launched in Malaysia

The hot Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan has just landed in Malaysia, with prices starting from RM 348,888.

Power is derived from a 2.0-litre M260 turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that does 306 PS at 5,800 rpm and 400 Nm from 3,000 rpm to 4,000 rpm. Drive is transferred to all four wheels via the 7-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive system. The compact sports sedan completes the century sprint in just 4.8 seconds, before reaching an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Toyota GR Sport models a possibility for Malaysia

Toyota Yaris GR Sport (European-spec)

With the launch of the all-new 2019 A90 Toyota GR Supra in Malaysia, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has also introduced the GR Garage concept store. It is a first of its kind, one-stop motorsports inspired outlet to be opened outside of Japan.

Lim hinted that there is an opportunity for UMWT to expand the GR model line up as the overwhelming interest in the GR Supra suggests that Malaysian customers have a strong appetite for cars with sporty credentials.

 

Tight supply of Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan solved

At yesterday’s launch of the Mercedes-Benz A35 Sedan, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia have confirmed that deliveries of the model, along with its lesser siblings the A200 Sedan and A250 Sedan, will commence shortly.

This was confirmed by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s Vice-President for Sales and Marketing Michael Jopp.

Future locally assembled Proton-Geely models will use Petronas engine oil

According to a Proton official who is familiar with the matter, Petronas was working on research and development for its lubricants to ensure that it offers the optimum performance and protection for the TGDi powerplant. The lead time on the R&D efforts was too short notice to make it on time for the local debut of the X70 in December 2018.

As a result, Proton had to make do with the Shell engine oils for the time being until Petronas is ready with a compatible product.

 

 Tokyo 2019  Honda to debut all-new Jazz

Honda will debut the all-new fourth-generation Jazz at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, alongside the tenth-generation Accord and the electric-powered Honda e.

Similarly, we expect the Jazz to be offered as a hybrid-only when it goes on sale in Japan, but markets like North America and the rest of Asia are expected to be offered with regular internal combustion engine variants, as well as the hybrid.

 BMW i3s sold out in Malaysia

The average person who is used to combustion engine cars might find this hard to believe, but the first batch BMW i3s – numbering 30 units in total - was sold out just two weeks after its launch earlier in April.

The response was certainly a surprise even for BMW Group Malaysia and supply remains tight but additional shipments of i3s are on their way.

New Honda Civic previewed ahead of Malaysian launch

Honda Malaysia today previewed the new Honda Civic ahead of its official launch later this year.

As this is just a mid-life update, changes to the exterior styling is mild. The most obvious difference is the new front bumper, which features a new front fog lamp housing. The wheels have also been upgraded from 17-inch to 18-inch, but only for highest variant. Alongside the new wheels are 235/40 R18 tires.

New 2019 Isuzu D-Max, now with 1.9L BluePower Ddi engine

First launched in 2011, the current generation Isuzu D-Max is the oldest pick-up truck in the segment. To keep it current, Isuzu Malaysia has given the D-Max yet another mid-life update.
