The Hyundai Ioniq 5 was launched in March 2022. Prior to its launch, some Malaysians were skeptical about the concept of EVs but at the same time, were also impressed with its technology.
Below are some comments from Netizens about the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

What do Malaysians think about the EV platform ?

@ Syah

“ at the moment, in Malaysia, EV is still about premium cars. Not environment.”

@ Lou

“ sooner or later you would have to accept ev’s. They are the way moving forward.”

@ Eric

“ Can't wait for the day noise pollution from cars, lorries and especially kapchai are reduced “

@ Tan

“ I think EV susah to progress here at the moment because the price does not justify it. I mean to buy a vehicle costing 200k+ just to save on petrol money ? Unless you are someone who already can afford cars in that price range, then ok la. But for the lower-income group, petrol or hybrid vehicles still make more sense.”

Battery and charging issues ?

@ Bob

“ just wait till the battery goes kaput heheh”

@ Lim

@ Even charging points aren’t enough. What to say about increasing EVs ? Happy queueing “

@ Lukman

“ I’m waiting to see the sights of EV queueing up at least 30 min per car at charging stations. While I’m laughing and filling up petrol in my car. “

@ Woo

“ BMW n ioniq 5 both have 8y battery warranty n also extended mileage warranty like BMW “

Reader’s general opinion on the Hyundai Ioniq 5

@ Faizal

Where is the practicality ? Why should someone pay so much for such inconvenience car. Try to imagine somebody would want to go for a day trip to perak and back in the same day. Where to charge the car ? Plug into the RNR toilet power point and sleep there waiting ? Come on… petrol-EV hybrid is not even hot in Malaysia, yet they launch the full EV. Super duper noob management, who don’t even aware on market trend.``

@ Chan

“ For those who cares about resale value, go buy a house and take grab. Already thinking of selling before even owning the car”

@ Zhang

“ Malaysians mentality, thinking of selling car before you own it”

@ Lee

“So Ioniq 5 is just Hyundai smartphone with wheels”

@ MB

“I think i buy second hand since hyundai no second hand value”

@ Subramaniam

“ No engine yet price crazy”
