BMW Malaysia has announced that pre-booking for the BMW i4 eDrive40 M Sport is now open, after its preview at NEXTGen Malaysia earlier in January this year. The retail pricing (OTR without insurance, with SST) for the BMW i4 eDrive40 M Sport with Extended Warranty & Service Package is RM 389,800.

As with all battery EVs (BEV) currently on sale in Malaysia, import and excise duties as well as road tax have been waived - valid until 31-December 2023.
This makes the BMW i4 eDrive40 M Sport cheaper than the BMW 430i Coupe, which is priced at RM 427,800 (OTR without insurance, with SST and Extended Warranty + Service Package).

The BMW i4 eDrive40 has a rear-mounted electric motor that generates a maximum output of 340 PS, 430 Nm. 0-100 km/h sprint can be achieved in 5.7 seconds, while top speed is 190 km/h.
The high-voltage battery is positioned in the vehicle floor and has a gross capacity of 83.9 kWh (80.7 kWh net), driving range is up to 590 km (WLTP).

AC charging is rated at a maximum of 11 kW, charging from 0 to 100 percent in under 8.5 hours. Meanwhile for DC fast charging, maximum rate is 200 kW, allowing the BMW i4 to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 31 minutes.

The BMW i4 in Malaysia wears the sportier M Sport exterior outfit with 19-inch M Aerodynamic Wheels 860 M Bicolour with staggered widths, M Sport brakes, as well as M High-gloss Shadow Line. It also features BMW Laserlights with Automatic High-beam Control.
