Remember the Lynk and Co Zero Concept that made its debut a couple of months ago? Well, that concept car could very well enter production in the form of the Zeekr 001. Even the emblems on the Zero Concept and the 001 are almost identical.
No, this isn’t an April’s Fool joke.
Zeekr is Geely’s new attempt at going up-market and as the name suggests, the 001 will be its first model.
To recap, the Lynk and Co Zero Concept, or in this case the Zeekr 001, is built on Geely’s open-source, full-electric platform called the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA). Powertrain details were not disclosed, though Geely did say that it offers a 700-km range and a 0-100km/h time of under 4 seconds.
Other details that Geely mentioned about the Zeekr 001 include a length of 4,950 mm and a wheelbase of 2,999 mm. The suave four-door coupe is also said to get a perfect 50:50 weight balance and a low centre of gravity for superior handling.
The notion that the Lynk and Co Zero Concept will be the Zeekr 001 is further solidified in the timelines provided by Geely.
Back in October 2020, Geely mentioned that the production version of the Zero Concept will launch in the second half of 2021, inline with the Zeekr announcement last week, saying that the first batch of Zeekr vehicles are expected to be delivered in the third quarter of the year.
But Zeekr isn’t just about selling EVs to the masses; it’s more than that. In an effort to deepen relationships with potential customers and owners, Zeekr will also open up lifestyle lines for clothing and accessories and launch a car owner's club.
