More powerful and with a more offensive styling, the new Honda Civic Type-R released in 2017 was a real head turner. Heavily upgraded for 2017, the biggest changed could not be seen. The new Type R featured a fully independent rear suspension. The redesigned exterior look made it more aggressive with wider fenders, roof diffusers, a scoop vent and the exciting red accents all around. The functional design provided downforce and great stability at high speeds. With lots of powerful and wild hot hatches on the market, the Type R was one of the most desired in the lot. Not only because of its sophisticated exterior look, but for the 320 hp hidden under the hood the great handling. In the sprint to 100 kph, the 2017 Type R needed around 5.8 seconds. The Type R was also nice to drive around town, offering a decent ride quality and good steering. The the not-so-loud exhaust wasn’t meant to upset your neighbours in the morning, thus it was not very difficult to live with it day-to-day. The Civic Type R offered superb performance besides the great handling, however, the ride was pretty firm. Some of the downsides was the lack of a navigation system on the base model, as well as a reduced rear visibility due to the car’s shape.
