I would do a lot of research, especially on the transmissions. I would go to “carcomplaints.com “. Honda has had a lot of transmission issues such as Accord v6 automatic starting 1998 up. 2001–2005 civic automatic, accord k24 2003–2005 automatics, civic cvt automatics 2001–2005. Element 2wd and crv automatic 5 speed autos, all problematic. They dropped to 9th on Consumer Reports latest quality ratings. Not sure I would go with a Honda over Toyota.
My 2008 Accord did something similar. The most common configuration of North American Honda Accords uses the K24 engine. My VCT actuator would do this on cold start-up. There is an updated part that is available for installation. It may not be your problem, but it's worth a conversation with a mechanic. TSB A09–010 describes the repair and the updated part. No, I’m not a Honda guru, just another owner plagued by the same symptoms in a slightly older Accord.
You can fix the engine inside the engine bay or outside of the vehicle. Your question does not seem clear if you are looking at placing a newer generation engine into a previous generation of Honda Accord. It is important to know which model of accord, and more specifically which engines you are dealing with. You should find the engine code of the current engine first. You need to know whether you have a 4cyl engine or a 6cyl engine. K24, J37 etc... Engine codes. Goodluck!
It depends on the person you're hiring. However, I'm just going to say it's a Honda. Even though I'm just a high schooler, I have swapped engines into many Honda's (yeah, I've done multiple Civic's. And a few Accord's.) It actually isn't that hard to swap a engine into a Honda. All you really need is hand tools and a engine hoist (or whatever that engine pull out thing is). However, if you are planning on swapping a different engine into your Accord (like a H22A or a K24 into a 6th Gen Accord or a K24 into a Honda Civic), then you are going to have to be a tad bit more experienced. So, I'm just going to say it. I would recommend you save your money and put the engine into the Accord yourself
That depends on price,, comfort, mileage(mpg) and longevity. The K24 engine will likely outlast the Civic engine as it is higher quality build. If you commute long distances the Civic is better on gas. If your 6′5 or taller the Accord is more comfortable. The k24 engine, with 185 horse will not have to work as hard as the 1.8 .engine. I would say the Accord is a better car overall.
The Honda Accord Earth Dreams K24 engine with direct injection has been linked to an oil dilution issue and gas has been found in the motor oil at earlier than oil change intervals. Therefore, mechanics have recommend earlier oil change intervals. Oil diluted with gasoline will get past oil rings easier, using more oil and can cause other issues. I don’t know that a direct corelation in all cases can be found with direct injection.
I would guess not very likely. Public theft statistics are not this detailed, so no one without special access to the data could give you a definitive answer. My reasons for thinking that this model would not be very desirable as a theft target are as follows: The 2008 Honda Accord was the beginning of a generation of the biggest Accords ever manufactured. The EPA classified it as a full-size car. Neither of the two subsequent model generations is as large. This size difference means that many of its parts would not be appropriate for other generations of Accords. The K24 and J35 engines used by the 2008 Accord are not performance engines that would be targeted by thieves for the tuner crowd. They are not as overbuilt or high revving as prior generations of Honda engines, such as the K20, or B18. They aren’t particularly expensive cars. You can check the “blue book” values for yourself. The anti-theft protection is much better than earlier generations, which is why the 1997 Accord is such a favorite model for thieves.
No. Although many honda/acura vehicles share engines. CRV/CIVIC/Accord/RSX/TSX/RDX/ILX all share K series engines. K20, K23, K24. Pilot/Accord V6/MDX/RL are using similar engines also.
Bolt in? Forget about it. I've never even seen the engine bay of the eclipse but I can tell you right now it won't be an easy job, and the better question is, why? Are you trying to swap in an i4 K24 or a V6 J30? What is the reason for the swap? Your more affordable and simple route to get your car running again lies in the same engine DESIGNED for your car. The price difference between an eclipse engine and an accord engine I can't imagine being more than a few hundred dollars, it will be better off for you in the long run(and for resale) to keep the stock setup. Seriously, who on earth would buy a 2000 Eclipse GT with a wimpy accord engine? (Okay… maybe the J30 V6 swap would be cool… but it's a lot of work!)
