kia optima discontinued Post Review

@Kia Tony Walker at Kia In Bryan @StateOfTexas Indicated that the Korean Manufacture Kia Discontinued the Model Of Optima. They do not have any but a used 2019 Kia Optima. I am sad @CityofCS https://t.co/W96OSMEBTN

@KiaMotorsSA can you guys help me out of a 1 year old discontinued KIA Optima??? http://t.co/tgYk6J4w8F

I loved/still love Kia Optima but it got discontinued, now there is Stinger coming... dear Lord, I’m ready...

So Ford Fusion, Kia Optima, (Chevrolet Lumina) & Hyundai Sonata have been discontinued. Thanks to peak in demand for Crossovers/SUVs.

@Kia_Motors is the KIA optima discontinued in South Africa???

EVs that have recently been/are being discontinued in the US: - Chevy Volt, Smart fortwo ED, Hyundai Sonata PHEV, BMW i3, Honda Clarity BEV EVs that should be discontinued: - BMW 740e, X5 xDrive 40e, 330e - Kia Optima PHEV - Hyundai IONIQ EV (BEV) - Mini Countryman PHEV

@Kia Then you shouldn’t have discontinued the Kia Optima hybrid plugin! Or, the K5 should have been given that option. That’s why i didn’t lease one when my Optima hybrid plug-in lease ended. Got a Toyota hybrid instead.

@Kia proud owner of a Kia Optima SXL 2018, everything good until I had to replace a tire!! The tires it had (OEM) are DISCONTINUED from the manufacturer, after searching for the tire in 8 cities I gave up, had to change brands, so disappointed, wonder what else is OBSOLETE!

@Car_Guy_Tom @Automotive_News The 2021 XF is a nice looking car, but a search on https://t.co/WRORBBiMIH shows that most XFs at US dealers are in white or black with blacked out wheels. Makes them look more like a Kia Optima than a Jaguar. More worrying is that the V-6 engine option has been discontinued.

@Hennessy_girl_ Yeah that's because sedans have a market there. This is the Kia Optima or K5 as it's known in the US. The Optima was discontinued along with the Sonata in early 2015 due to lack of sales as SUVs continue to trend hard in South Africa. Also note that the Optima and Sonata were

kia optima discontinued Q&A Review

I've noticed striking similarities in the Hyundai and the Kia with the exception of price. Is the Hyundai just a more inexpensive version of the Kia?

Almost every Kia car has a Hyundai twin, and usually vice versa, yes. Hyundai’s parent company owns the majority of Kia, and they share engines and platforms. In my experience in the US, the Hyundai version of a car is actually usually more expensive, but it varies. Hyundai and Kia also tend to have slightly different market focus and brand targeting. Kia Rio — Hyundai Accent Kia Forte / Spectra / Cerato — Hyundai Elantra Kia Optima — Hyundai Sonata Kia Stinger — Genesis G70 ,(approximately; Genesis is Hyundai’s new luxury brand) Kia Amanti — Hyundai XG ,(both discontinued) Kia K900 — Hyundai Equus, Genesis G80 and/or G90 Kia Niro — Hyundai Ioniq Kia Sportage — Hyundai Tucson Kia Sorento — Hyundai Santa Fe ,(approximately, for some generations) Source: ,Template:Kia North America - Wikipedia I couldn’t find a US-market Hyundai equivalent of the Kia Soul, nor a Kia equivalent to the Hyundai Kona or Veloster.

What is the annual cost of maintaining a luxury car?

The most expensive thing most Americans own, after their house, is their car. On average, Americans spend 5% of their income on purchasing a car. Another 5% goes towards ongoing maintenance and insurance costs. But not every car costs the same to keep it running. And different cars have varying risks of leaving their drivers suddenly immobilized. At YourMechanic, we have a massive dataset of the make and model of the cars we have serviced and the type of maintenance done. We decided to use our data to understand which cars break down the most and have the highest maintenance costs. We also looked into which types of maintenance are most common to certain cars. First, we looked at which major brands cost the most to maintain over the first 10 years of a car’s life. We grouped all years of all models by brand to compute their median cost by brand. In order to estimate annual maintenance costs, we found the amount spent on every two oil changes (as oil changes are generally done every six months). Which Car Brands Cost the Most to Maintain? Based on estimates of total car maintenance over 10 years Rank Car Brand Cost 1 BMW $17,800 2 Mercedes-Benz $12,900 3 Cadillac $12,500 4 Volvo $12,500 5 Audi $12,400 6 Saturn $12,400 7 Mercury $12,000 8 Pontiac $11,800 9 Chrysler $10,600 10 Dodge $10,600 11 Acura $9,800 12 Infiniti $9,300 13 Ford $9,100 14 Kia $8,800 15 Land Rover $8,800 16 Chevrolet $8,800 17 Buick $8,600 18 Jeep $8,300 19 Subaru $8,200 20 Hyundai $8,200 21 GMC $7,800 22 Volkswagen $7,800 23 Nissan $7,600 24 Mazda $7,500 25 Mini $7,500 26 Mitsubishi $7,400 27 Honda $7,200 28 Lexus $7,000 29 Scion $6,400 30 Toyota $5,500 Luxury imports from Germany, such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, along with domestic luxury brand Cadillac, are the most expensive. A Toyota is about $10,000 less expensive over 10 years, just in terms of maintenance. Toyota is by far the most economical manufacturer. Scion and Lexus, the second and third most inexpensive brands, are both Toyota subsidiaries. Together, all three are 10% below the median cost. Most domestic brands, like Ford and Dodge, are in the middle of the pack. While luxury cars call for the most expensive maintenance, many budget vehicles rank relatively high. Kia, an entry-level brand, surprises with maintenance costs 1.3 times the median. In this case, sticker prices don't represent maintenance costs. Knowing the relative maintenance costs of brands can be informative, but it’s also important to consider how car costs change with age. This chart looks at the median annual cost of maintenance across all brands. Maintenance costs increase as the car ages. A stable, consistent increase of $150 per year in costs exists for years 1 through 10. After that, there is a distinct jump between 11 and 12 years of age. After age 13, costs plateau around $2,000 per year. This is likely because people disown their cars if maintenance costs are higher than their cars’ worth. Even within brands, not all cars are created equal. How do specific models compare directly to one another? We drilled down by splitting up all cars by model to look at 10 year maintenance costs. Which Car Models Cost the Most to Maintain? Based on total car maintenance costs over 10 years Rank Car Brand Cost 1 Chrysler Sebring $17,100 2 BMW 328i $15,600 3 Nissan Murano $14,700 4 Mercedes-Benz E350 $14,700 5 Chevrolet Cobalt $14,500 6 Dodge Grand Caravan $14,500 7 Dodge Ram 1500 $13,300 8 Audi A4 Quattro $12,800 9 Mazda 6 $12,700 10 Subaru Forester $12,200 11 Acura TL $12,100 12 Nissan Maxima $12,000 13 Chrysler 300 $12,000 14 Ford Mustang $11,900 15 Audi A4 $11,800 16 Volkswagen Passat $11,600 17 Ford Focus $11,600 18 Chevrolet Impala $11,500 19 Honda Pilot $11,200 20 Mini Cooper $11,200 The 20 priciest car models in term of maintenance cost all require, at a minimum, a staggering $11,000 to maintain over 10 years. These estimates include expensive one-off costs, like a transmission rebuild, that skew the mean higher. According to our data, Chrysler's Sebring is the most expensive car to maintain, which is likely one of the reasons why Chrysler revamped it in 2010. German imports (such as BMW’s 328i and Mercedes-Benz’ E350) along with many manufacturers’ luxury or full-sized models (such as the Audi A4 Quattro) are quite expensive as well. Now we know which cars are money pits. So which vehicles are a thrifty, reliable choice? Which Car Models Have the Lowest Maintenance Cost? Based on total car maintenance costs over 10 years Rank Car Brand Cost 1 Toyota Prius $4,300 2 Kia Soul $4,700 3 Toyota Camry $5,200 4 Honda Fit $5,500 5 Toyota Tacoma $5,800 6 Toyota Corolla $5,800 7 Nissan Versa $5,900 8 Toyota Yaris $6,100 9 Scion xB $6,300 10 Kia Optima $6,400 11 Lexus IS250 $6,500 12 Nissan Rogue $6,500 13 Toyota Highlander $6,600 14 Honda Civic $6,600 15 Honda Accord $6,600 16 Volkswagen Jetta $6,800 17 Lexus RX350 $6,900 18 Ford Fusion $7,000 19 Nissan Sentra $7,200 20 Subaru Impreza $7,500 Toyota and other Asian imports are the least expensive cars to maintain, with the Prius living up to its well-known reputation for reliability. Along with many Toyota models, Kia’s Soul and Honda’s Fit hold close to Prius’s low-cost lead. Toyota’s Tacoma and Highlander are also on the low-cost leaderboard, even though the list is dominated by compact and mid-sized sedans. Toyota completely avoids the the most expensive models list. So what, specifically, makes some brands more expensive than others? Some brands have a higher incidence of routine maintenance. But some cars tend to have the same problems time and again. We looked at which brands have maintenance requirements that occur unusually often for that particular brand. For each brand and issue, we compared the frequency to the median across all the cars we serviced. Unusually Common Car Issues Based on issues found by YourMechanic and compared to the median car Car Brand Car Issue Issue Frequency Mercury Fuel pump replacement 28x Chrysler Exhaust gas recirculation/EGR valve replacement 24x Infiniti Camshaft position sensor replacement 21x Cadillac Intake manifold gasket replacement 19x Jaguar Check Engine Light is on inspection 19x Pontiac Intake manifold gasket replacement 19x Dodge Exhaust gas recirculation/EGR valve replacement 19x Plymouth Not starting inspection 19x Honda Valve clearance adjustment 18x BMW Window regulator replacement 18x Ford PCV valve hose replacement 18x BMW Idler pulley replacement 18x Chrysler Overheating inspection 17x Saturn Wheel bearing replacement 17x Oldsmobile Not starting inspection 17x Mitsubishi Timing belt replacement 17x BMW Drive belt tensioner replacement 16x Chrysler Camshaft position sensor replacement 16x Jaguar Battery service 16x Cadillac Leaking coolant 16x Jeep Crankshaft position sensor replacement 15x Chrysler Engine mount replacement 15x Mercedes-Benz Crankshaft position sensor 15x Mercury is the brand that suffered most chronically from a design flaw. In this case, Mercury cars most frequently had fuel pump issues (Mercury was discontinued by parent company Ford in 2011). We can see some issues cross from brand to brand within the same manufacturer. For example, Dodge and Chrysler, which are both part of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) conglomerate, can’t seem to get their exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves working correctly. Their EGRs need to be fixed at roughly 20 times the national median rate. But there’s one problem customers care more about than any other: which cars will simply refuse to start? We answer this question in the below chart, which limits the comparison to cars 10 years old or less. Car Brands Most Likely Not to Start Based on service by YourMechanic and compared to the median model Rank Car Brand Frequency of Car Not Starting 1 Hummer 9x 2 Mercury 6x 3 Chrysler 6x 4 Saturn 5x 5 Dodge 5x 6 Mitsubishi 4x 7 BMW 4x 8 Suzuki 4x 9 Pontiac 4x 10 Buick 4x 11 Land Rover 3x 12 Mercedes-Benz 3x 13 Chevrolet 3x 14 Jeep 3x 15 Ford 3x 16 GMC 3x 17 Acura 3x 18 Cadillac 2x 19 Scion 2x 20 Lincoln 2x 21 Nissan 2x 22 Mazda 2x 23 Volvo 2x 24 Infiniti 2x 25 Kia 2x Although this could be a reflection of some owners’ diligence just as much as the cars' build quality, the results of this list are quite damning: three of the top five brands were discontinued in the last several years. In addition to the now-defunct brands, the premium segment (such as Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, and BMW) is represented in this list. Notably absent are many of the brands from the least expensive list: Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai. But the brand doesn’t reveal everything about a car. We dove into the particular models that don’t start with the greatest frequency. Car Models Most Likely Not to Start Based on service by YourMechanic and compared to the median model Rank Car Model Frequency of Car Not Starting 1 Hyundai Tiburon 26x 2 Dodge Caravan 26x 3 Ford F-250 Super Duty 21x 4 Ford Taurus 19x 5 Chrysler PT Cruiser 18x 6 Cadillac DTS 17x 7 Hummer H3 11x 8 Nissan Titan 10x 9 Chrysler Sebring 10x 10 Dodge Ram 1500 10x 11 BMW 325i 9x 12 Mitsubishi Eclipse 9x 13 Dodge Charger 8x 14 Chevrolet Aveo 8x 15 Chevrolet Cobalt 7x 16 Mazda MX-5 Miata 7x 17 Mercedes-Benz ML350 6x 18 Chevrolet HHR 6x 19 Mitsubishi Galant 6x 20 Volvo S40 6x 21 BMW X3 6x 22 Pontiac G6 6x 23 Dodge Caliber 6x 24 Nissan Pathfinder 6x 25 Saturn Ion 6x The worst cars failed to start 26 times as often as the median, perhaps explaining why some of these models got the axe: the Hyundai Tiburon, Hummer H3, and Chrysler Sebring (all in the top 10) were discontinued. Some premium models make it into the shameful list as well, including BMWs and several Mercedes-Benz models. For as long as cars have existed, Americans have debated car ownership and the questions of cost and reliability. This data reveals which companies live up to their reputation for reliability (Toyota), which brands sacrifice reliability for prestige (BMW and Mercedes-Benz), and which models deserved to be discontinued (the Hummer 3). Still, car maintenance is about much more than the median cost. Factors such as how well a car is maintained, how often it is driven, where it is driven, and how it is driven all affect maintenance costs. Your mileage may vary. Why is the US health insurance system so bad?

Try this site where you can compare quotes: //INSURANCECOMPAREQUOTES.US/index.html?src=compare// RELATED Question to Young Drivers about Insurance.? Hi, i am 20 and just passed my test and now i need a car and insurance, i was wondering if you young drivers have gotten any ‘cheapish’ car insurance recently and what car, thanks. Cheapest i’ve found is a Renault Clio, Peguot 107 and a Fiat Punto.” Health Care Insurance Costs are soo high!? My wife is 28 years old, I’m 29 and non of our employers offer health insurance benefits. We’re forced to pay for our own at $300 a month! That’s $3,600 a year… it’s too much for us considering we only visit the doctor once a year. I’m tempted to discontinue it but then again its tough not to have any health insurance at all. Any suggestions???” If i got a car as a gift and dont have insurance and a car hits me is that ok? my friend gave me a car and i dont have insurance, but a guy hit me this morning, will his insurance pay for it?” Insurance for a 2013 Kia Optima? I’m 17 years old girl, and live in Washington state. I’ll be getting a 2011 - 2013 Kia Optima, and I wonder what my insurance will be. What would be the cheapest, if you know?” Know of Affordable Insurance for unemployed NJ resident? My wife just lost her job due to downsizing and she carried the insurance. Our insurance expires the end of October. I cant signup at my job until January. We can COBRA but it will cost around $900 a month which we certainly wont have since shes unemployed and wouldnt have even if she WAS employed. Anyone know if there is a more affordable option? Does unemployed have some kind of health insurance? We have 2 young children so not having insurance isnt an option. Please REAL Replies Only!!! No SPAM! New driver- car insurance? i just got anew car, hydauni elantra 06, and i need insurance, wats the cheapest insurance for a 19 yr old girl,no driving record, tickets etc in the rome/utica area? thanksssss” Can an auto insurance company suspend my license? I was hit by a woman in a parking lot. In Texas where I live, certain parking lots are no fault zones if they are private property. I was in one of these no fault zones. I was uninsured at the time. She had Uninsured Motorist Protection as part of her insurance policy. I suffered no damages to my vehicle or person. She suffered $1500 worth of vehicular damage. Her insurance company paid for her damages. I was backing out of a parking space and she came flying around the corner and messed up the entire passenger door of her car on my rear bumper. Like I said I received no damage to my vehicle since I was the one barely moving. She called the police immediately after this minor accident took place. I was not cited on the ticket I received for any accident, only for no insurance. The officer informed me verbally that the accident was my fault only because she had the right of way but that there was nothing they could do about it because of the no fault zone policy. Anyway, now her insurance company is coming after me to collect payment of the $1500 they paid for her damages. I have not agreed to pay this amount because it was a no fault zone and I don’t feel I should pay for it. She should not have been going that fast in a busy parking lot with a car full of kids. Although the unofficial technicality states that I was at fault, legally no one was at fault. Her insurance company is also threatening to have my license suspended if I do not pay the amount specified. I did not think that they, as a private company, had the power to have that happen. I’ve never been in this situation before and need an answer as to whether or not the insurance company can do that or if its just some kind of scare tactic to jolt me into paying but really has no merit behind it. Someone please help!” What is the purpose of insurance? What is the purpose of insurance? Does anyone know how much does car insurance cost for underage Drivers????? Im applying for my permit and im 17 years old. the only thing im missing is my insurance. Please help i asked all my friends but none have insurance. Thank you for your time, Diana****” What is the cheapest car Insurance ? I own my car. What do I have to carry?

Are 4 door sedans about to become obsolete?

Not at all. It’s just that they aren’t competitive for some car makers. We don’t get entry-level European cars in NA anymore because of an unfavorable exchange rate and cost of production. There are plenty of luxury cars imported from Europe to NA - Jaguar, Aston Martin, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Maserati - but we don’t get Fiat or Renault or Opel or Peugeot or Citroen. Even VW and Volvo (and Saab) were upmarket brands in the last 40 years, once we started getting VW cars made in Europe rather than in Mexico or South America. A luxury car is more profitable and the exchange rate is less of a factor. When the Japanese Yen rose against the dollars, the solution was for the Japanese manufacturers to move their production to North America. Many Japanese brands are built domestically for domestic use. But only Ford has seen fit to discontinue it’s sedans and small cars. They were not very good or competitive in recent years, except a few small-volume, higher-performance cars. But Hyundai still makes the Accent, Elantra, Veloster, Ioniq and Sonata, plus three models of Genesis luxury cars. Their KIA division sells the Rio, Soul, Forte, Optima, and Stinger. Kia just recently discontinued two large sedans - the K900 and Cadenza - as they most definitely compete with Genesis models. All of those are cars, and they sell reasonably well. But you’ll see a gap there - large sedans now only exist as luxury cars - personal vehicles for people with a second vehicle that they use for moving things or children. A smaller car is cheaper than an SUV, and many people are two-car families just for that reason. Most Tesla vehicles are sedans too.

Is the Kia K5 replacing Optima?

Yes, KIA is replacing the OPTIMA with the new K5. KIA are discontinuing the OPTIMA due to poor sales and the new K5 is a new design with an incredible looking front end with amazing headlight design. Current KIA OPTIMA Looks okay, also it hasnt had a major design change in a few years with KIA just doing some cosmetic changes. KIA K5 A completely new front end with the LED drls that run from the lights to the mudguard. As for the name K5 it was already in use in south korea so naturally they decided to call it the K5 throughout the world.

Is it better to buy a $2k, $5k, or $10k used car from Craigslist for the lowest expected cost of ownership if you're going to sell it after only 6 months of use?

$4,000 to $5,000 - is the best $10,000 is too much and $2,000 will get you something that for sure will require another $2,000 or more to fix it up enough to make it driveable. Buying used cars on craigslist, fixing them up, and selling them is my hobby. I don’t care about making money on selling these cars. All I want is to work on cars during my free time. I just enjoy doing this. And I have to admit, I just love negotiating. I enjoy sales. I love finding, buying for less than the asking price and I love selling to the highest possible price. Last week I bought a 2009 Hyundai Tucson with 130,000 miles for only $2,500. The car needs some headlight lens restoration, paint polishing, interior cleaning, steering wheel upholstery, some engine bay cleaning, Fuel system cleaning, I will replace the front struts, replace some front bushings and she will be in like-new condition. The car has brand new battery, brand new brake pads and rotors, and newish tires with around 7,000 miles on them. Once I am done, she will be somewhere in a $6,000 range. I will probably sell it for $6,200 since dealers are asking around $7,000 for similar cars. How to Find? In Craigslist look for cars sold by owners only. Find a nice 2010 or newer car with under 150,000 miles, that runs and drives, the AC works, has normal tires, brakes, and is smogged. Then check with the DMV to make sure the car does not have any back taxes, liens, or tickets. Make sure it’s got a Clean Title on hand and the car has been smogged. If not, find the reason. Some owners might be selling cheap because it won’t pass smog and needs a lot of money to fix it so the owners just sell it cheaper and claim they don’t have time or money to smog it. It takes half an hour and costs less than $100 to smog it. Once you find something, check prices for similar cars on eBay and Autotrader. Try to compare with cars in California because California cars are some of the best and the cleanest cars in the USA and of course are priced accordingly. Try to find cars in wealthier cities. You really don’t want to buy a cheap underpriced car from poor neighborhoods usually because they never had the money to spend on these cars or bought more car than they could afford and bit the crap out of it. Don’t buy the first car you find. Keep looking until you find that perfect car. Another great tip? Wake up 6:30 am - 7:30 am, open craigslist, select for sale by owners only, set a minimum and max price, year, title, transmission, and just hit refresh every 15 minutes. WHY? Good cars get sold within minutes. You are not the only one shopping for cars. There are many others who look for great deals. MORE TIPS: I am a car guy. I’ve owned many brands, models, and price-range from an $800-$900 car all the way up to $150,000 cars, trucks, and SUVs. I’ve owned European, American, Korean, Japanese, and of course Russian cars. SO: At your price range - 100% avoid European cars. BMW’s, Audis, VW’s, and even Mercedeses. Stay at least 2 miles away from Jags and Range Rovers. Avoid discontinued car brands. Believe me, you do not want to own a $5,000 Audi or a VW or worse a BMW or a Mercedes… So just avoid Europeans. Actually, Mercedeses and BMWs are somewhat doable if you are like me and know a thing or two about using a wrench. The parts are expensive compared to let's say American or Japanese cars. Think of it this way. A headlight assembly of a Mercedes might cost you the same as a half of a used American car. At your price range - Avoid American Chrysler cars. Be careful with GM cars. Fords will be your best choice at that price range. Like a 2012 Ford Focus Hatchback with about 100,000 miles, you can find one around $5,000... Buy it and drive it without fixing anything. Japanese cars are usually great. The best out of these are the Toyotas with their Lexus and Hondas with their Acuras. Nissans with their Infinity’s are a hit and miss, some are good some are a headache. Mazdas and Mitsubishi are like Nissans, hit, and miss. Ohh Nissan Altimas are the cheapest used cars for a reason. Try to avoid it. Kia and Hyundai I will buy without even looking at these cars and without even test driving them. #1 reason is better-built quality. #2 - the parts are cheap and #3 - oh come on, back then these cars came with 10 years or 100,000-mile factory warranty when most other brand cars were only 3 years and 36,000-mile factory warranty. I have a 2014 Kia Optima Hybrid LX with 208,000 miles on it. I swear if you drive it you will think she’s brand new. Every part is a factory original except the brake pads, tires, the battery (hybrid batteries are still factory originals), and air filter. Oh yeah and maybe a time or two I did replace the low beam headlight bulbs and windshield wipers. Anyways. Go for a $5,000 car, Avoid $2,000 and $10,000 is too much Because - ,the higher the price, the fewer cash buyers. Most people do not have 10K cash to buy cars. They go to dealers and finance. It’s easier to sell when the price is around $5,000. Actually, it’s much easier to sell cars over $50,000 price tag than to sell a $10,000 car. So, stick with a nice $5,000 range car, truck, or SUV. Good Luck, Have fun and if you don't like it, sell it and get another one.

We can afford to finance a new car for about $35k what cars in that price or under would be the best, 4 doors?

Small-- AudiA3, with the 2019 models coming in, you might find a 2018 Audi A4 around that price level if you make the dealers compete with each other. Medium-- Camry v6 XLE, Accord 2.0 ltr EX-L, Buick Regal, Subaru Legacy, *Ford Fusion Titanium Large--Base Avalon, Nissan Maxima, *Chevrolet Impala V6 Premier, Kia Cadenza. Please know this. The Impala and Fusion and Regal will be discontinued, so you should find deep discounts on them. But they are very good cars to drive, but their maintenance history will not be as good as the other brands. Almost every BMW and Mercedes-Benz is above $35,000, so I did not suggest any of them. Also, they have much higher maintenance than the other brands over the period and lifetime of the vehicle. Avoid the Mercedes-Benz CLA, for it is actually manufactured by another company for Mercedes-Benz, and does not quite live up to the standards, per Consumer Reports. Below your price ceiling you have the Hyundai Sonata, the Accord and Camry with a smaller engines the Kia optima.
