lexus gs supercharger Q&A Review

Are there superchargers for a 2000 Lexus GS300?

There’s not currently any off-the-shelf systems nor do I remember there being any at the time when it was newer. The GS never had a very big aftermarket. It does appear that there was a supercharger offered for the IS300/Toyota Altezza in the early 2000’s (possibly made by HKS and only directly sold in Japan). That kit could possibly be modified to fit the GS300, but now you’re talking about a kit that MIGHT have existed only in Japan 15 years ago.

Would you trade Lexus for Tesla at the same price range?

That’s like asking, “Would you trade a blob of coal for a diamond?” I would always trade a Lexus for a Tesla. Let me explain why… I bought my long range, dual motor, all-wheel drive Tesla Model 3 with Enhanced Autopilot and sport wheels for ~$65K (taxes, documentation and destination fee included). I saved ~$2.5K on the 5 year registration, and got a $7.5K federal tax credit. So my real cost was ~$55K. For ~$57K, I would get a Lexus GS 300 F Sport (*before* taxes, documentation and destination fee) with the navigation package, 19 inch sports wheels, premium sound, color head-up display and parking assist. Now let’s compare… The M3 parallel parks and perpendicular parks itself automatically. The GS 300 F doesn’t. It just alerts you if you get too close to something (which the M3 also does). The M3 automatically turns your wipers when it rains, and off when the rain stops. The GS 300 F doesn’t. The M3 automatically closes your garage door when you leave, and opens it when you arrive. The GS 300 F doesn’t. The M3 can be summoned remotely (from outside the car). The GS 300 F doesn’t. The M3 drives itself on highways, and makes highway transitions by itself too. The GS 300 F doesn’t. The M3 has voice commands to make calls, select music and select a destination. The GS 300 F doesn’t do destinations. The M3 goes 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. To get that in a GS, you’ll have to upgrade to a GS 350 F, but that will set you back ~$84K!! The M3 locks itself when you walk away and opens itself when you approach (via your smartphone). The GS 300 F doesn’t. The M3 comes with an inbuilt dash cam (you supply the USB drive to store footage). The GS 300 F doesn’t. The M3 monitors and records its surroundings when an unauthorized person approaches it. It recently caught someone keying the car, and its footage led to the arrest of the perpetrator. The GS 300 F doesn’t. The M3 allows you to limit its max speed (when you lend it to your teenager, for example). The GS 300 F doesn’t. The M3 has the highest safety rating of any car. The GS 300 F doesn’t. The M3’s drive train has been tested to last for a million miles. The GS 300 F’s drive train won’t go beyond 250K miles. The M3’s back seats fold down to give you more space. The GS 300 F doesn’t. I’ve even gone camping in my M3 and slept in it overnight. Edmunds (,https://www.edmunds.com/lexus/gs-350/,) says that the entertainment and navigation system controller of the GS 300 F is difficult to use. The M3 is very easy to use. Everything in the M3 is very easy to use. The M3’s roof is all glass. The GS 300 F has only a small moon roof. The M3 gives you an equivalent of 134 mpg. The GS 300 F? Not even 34 mpg. This saves you at least $1K per year. Simply speaking, the M3 has just has a battery, an inverter, and one or two induction motors. These need little maintenance over the life of the car. An EV doesn’t have an ICE, and because of that, it has no transmission, no starter system (i.e. no starter motor, solenoid, Bendix gear, etc.), no gasoline fuel system (i.e. no fuel pump, fuel filter, etc.), no fuel injection system (i.e. no engine air filter, carburetor or fuel injector, etc.), no ignition system (i.e. no spark plugs, distributor cap, etc.), no exhaust system (i.e. no exhaust manifold and gasket, catalytic converter, muffler, resonator, etc.), and no generating system to keep the battery charged (i.e. no alternator, solenoid, etc.). You have no emissions tests, no oil changes, no transmission fluid changes, no engine air filter or fuel filter changes, no belt and hose changes, and so on. Fewer things can go wrong, and fewer things need regular maintenance. Over the life of the car, this will save you ~$20K. Maintenance and repairs on a GS 300 F are expensive. The M3 has regenerative braking and so you hardly need to use the brakes. They will last for the lifetime of the car. You’ll need to replace them every few years on the GS 300 F. The M3 allows you to cool or heat your car to a desired temperature before you get in. The GS 300 F doesn’t. You can set you M3 to drive only after you enter a pin. So even if a thief steals your phone and your phone is unlocked, he still needs the pin to start the car. The GS 300 F doesn’t have this protection. If a thief steals your M3, he will soon be caught because your smart phone app tells you (and you can tell the police) exactly where the car is at any at any point in time. Not so with the GS 300 F. The M3 is an all-wheel drive and handles extremely well, even on snow. This GS 300 F is rear wheel drive only. The M3 has over the air updates. This makes it smarter as time goes by – at no extra cost to you. The GS 300 F doesn’t – it remains the way it was when you got it. That’s very significant. Every M3 that replaces a GS 300 F reduces the carbon dioxide that is destroying our planet but a significant amount. When it all adds up, it can result in saving the planet. That’s priceless. I hope you now see why I would trade anything for a comparable Tesla. If my answer has helped you decide to buy a Tesla, if you care to, please use my referral code: ,https://ts.la/rosario38710, when you purchase your Tesla. You will get 1000 free supercharger miles.

What is a fast car with decent HP that I can buy that won’t have insurance with an outrageous amount?

Do NOT get an M5… your insurance will be out of the roof. What you’re looking for are something called “factory sleepers”. Factor sleepers are fast cars from the factory that aren’t meant to go fast. Usually these cars are family sedans. This is perfect because insurance will be low! For example, the Ford Taurus SHO. Nice looking family car, but really nothing more than a family car. However, it is built by the same people who made the Mustang Cobra, and the Taurus SHO has a twinturbo V6 producing 365HP. It’s a ROCKET. On the highway, I’ve seen this thing keep up with Mustangs and M3s. Best of all, insurance will be dirt cheap. Or you can also look at the Buick Regal GS… Again, a pretty but unassuming 4 door sedan from Buick, a company known for its grandpa cars. However, this little guy packs the same engine as the Chevy Camaro, with 310HP. A little tuning and this thing can make nearly 400HP easy. Insurance company won’t know a thing. If you want something cheaper, look at the 2004 Buick Regal GS Look at it. You can probably find one for about $3,000 and just look at it in all of its sleeper glory. Under the hood, a SUPERCHARGED v6. This little guy will do highway pulls. All. Day. Long. Best part, insurance will be the cheapest among the bunch. But if I were you, I wouldn’t look at any of these, I would get either a 2009 Lexus ES 330, 2008 Honda Accord V6 or (my favourite) a 2009 Nissan Altima V6 All of these cars produce about 270HP but they’re lighter than the above listed American cars. Also they’re WAY more reliable, and they have MUCH more aftermarket parts for them. The V6 in the Altima is essentially the same engine in the 350/370z. And the Honda V6 is bullet proof and it can be tuned to produce so much power it’s crazy. Also, the 2009 Lexus ES 330 the most reliable car you can buy, and it’s luxurious and produces decent power. However, not much tuning is available. There are lots of other cars out there as well that I haven’t listed, so go out and search! But these are the ones that I would never race… even though I own a Mitsubishi Evo.. have fun (and stay safe)! (If you liked the answer, please don’t forget to upvote!)

What is the best car you can buy with $100,000?

In my opinion, the best car you can buy under $100k is a used/new Mustang or Tesla Model S. From my list- Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R - My Favorite Range Rover Sport Supercharged BMW M2 Tesla Model S Lexus GS F Audi S5 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Porsche 718 Cayman S Cadillac CTS-V Cadillac CT6 Cadillac Escalade Platinum Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe Mercedes-Benz GLE 43 Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic But price may vary according to local.

How much will it cost to supercharge a Lexus GS F?

For a decent supercharger kit, it’ll cost about $10,000. I’d also get a boost gauge and an air/oil separator. That’d add roughly another $500. Where I’m from, Lexus dealership labor rates cost would be $1700. So, I’d say here in Wisconsin through a dealership or local high end import tune shop, it’d cost roughly $12,200.

What's the fastest car I've driven? a Tesla Model S? S Class 430 Benz? Range Rover Sport Supercharged? Lexus GS 350? Toyota Avalon? BMW 5 series? BMW x5? Infiniti g37? Infiniti q45? Infiniti m50? Why does Toyota have a much higher market share than Honda?

Having just gotten back from the LA Auto Show press preview, it remains clear that Honda still has not found the mojo it has lost over the past few product cycles. It's relatively easy to compare the two companies, apples to apples, because of their common heritage, comparable models, and shared market goals. It's not that Toyota just beats Honda in one segment and takes advantage of this one lead, it's that ,Toyota outpaces Honda in spades in nearly every factor. Honda's Inability to Replace a Lost Market One major factor is Honda's inability to stay ahead of trends. We all remember the riced-out VTECs roaring down the suburban asphalt in the late 90's, early aughts. Where are they now? Take a walk around SEMA, the world's largest aftermarket auto show, and these over-the-top import-styles are derided as gauche. With the "rice rocket" is no longer in style, the excitement of a Honda as a blank canvas is gone. What was the hottest sport compact at SEMA this year? None other than Toyota... er... Scion's FR-S. FR-S, Tuner Challenge at SEMA 2012 Where Have All the Children Gone? , Honda, Toyota, Nissan, these are brands that young buyers are drawn to due to their low maintenance costs, high resale value and multitude of packages for any price point. Young people today have less income to spend on cars, are less brand-loyal, and are looking for vehicles that will not only last, but stay cool 10 years down the line. They want choices when they walk onto the lot. For those of us Millenials still driving our first cars from when we were 16, we see our first "real" purchase a style statement. What's down there at the bottom of Honda's lineup? Honda Fit. Under $20k, you've got Civic, Insight and CR-Z (just barely). Prius C bringing hybrid to the masses Toyota's under $20k lineup has more than 2 times as many options. Toyota offers Yaris, Corolla, Matrix, the new Prius c, and a small cab version of the Tacoma pick-up. All of Scion's models except the FR-S can be had for under that price point: iQ, tC, xB, xD. Scion's engagement marketing focused on college and first-time-buyers has already begun to pay dividends in lifetime brand loyalty building. Like a Truck, Truck, Truck, Speaking of trucks, Honda offers the Ridgeline. Yep. The line sold 50,000 a year at its peak in 2006. By comparison, Tacoma sells 100,000 a year or more. Tacoma and Tundra are the 5th and 6th best selling trucks on the market, with Ridgeline coming in at a modest 12th. Options here, again, are key for the pickup market. The aftermarket for Taco's, FJ, Tundra is flourishing. Outside of the US, people LOVE the Hilux (from Toyota), one of the most affordable pickups out there. Where's the Fun?, Remember the Honda S2000? The new Mazda Miata is a gentle reminder of what you can't get from Honda anymore: a thrill. The CR-Z is a unique take from Honda, with a 6-speed manual hybrid. But it's still a hybrid, powered by a 1.5 liter 4-cyl. Meanwhile, Akio Toyoda has called for cars built with EMOTION. His appreciation for BMW and his racing past are taking the brand places. FR-S isn't a Supra, but it IS a 6-speed, rear-wheel drive sport platform that will (JUST ANNOUNCED) get a TRD Supercharger around Q2 of 2013. A relaunched Avalon, the V6 Camry with a 268 HP 3.5L, Lexus IS F, IS C... Waku doki indeed. Not your Grandma's Avalon. In the Supercar category, Acura brings us the NSX, which stacks up against Lexus' LF-A but already feels behind the newly launched LF-CC and LF-LC concepts. 2014 Acura NS-X Lexus LF-LC Innovation, Here's one place where Honda comes in close. They get excellent marks for their innovations and utilization of Compressed Natural Gas, Hydrogen + Fuel Cell technology, Electric Vehicles and so on. They really are leading the way of the future and putting money into technology that will hopefully not stay proprietary and change the way we drive forever. Honda FCX Hydrogen Fuel Cell But as far as access to hybrid technology, the advantage still goes to Lexus. Acura launched their first hybrid, the ISX for the 2013 model year. Meanwhile, Lexus offers 5 hybrid options, including the CT 200h (Prius platform), ES (Camry platform), RX, GS and LS. Out here in California, Prius is the NUMBER ONE selling model, ahead of Camry. Toyota is also partnered with Tesla Motors, particularly on the RAV4 EV, which starts at the immodest price of ~$50,000. But that kind of partnership will pay dividends down the entire product line. Lexus CT200h In Summary: Aftermarket Excitement: Toyota Youth/Budget Market: Toyota Commercial/Heavy Duty/Pick-Up Market: Toyota Off-the-Lot Excitement: Toyota Innovation (research): Honda Market Share of Hybrids: Toyota Luxury Brand: Lexus

Is Lexus the lowest quality of luxury cars?

The answer is very simple. ,Lexus is not as refined as BMW, Mercedes or Audi., The quality and refinement in many areas is just not there. To put it simply, Lexus is not in the same league as Germans. Lexus is a very successful brand and makes reliable cars that can satisfy a lot of consumers. But, reliability and longevity do not equal quality or fine engineering which German cars are known and loved for. (1) Interior. If you look at interiors of various Lexus models and try to compare them to their German competition, the quality and type of materials, fit and finish, even ergonomics do not match German premium brands. Poor choices of materials, low-grade/cheap plastic in many areas, questionable cabin build quality. If you don’t agree with me, just go to any local dealership and see yourself. Touch all materials, buttons, various controls, compare to Germans and then form your own opinion. Have you checked out Mercedes or Audi interiors? I encourage you to go and sit in late-generation Audi A4/A6, Mercedes C/E/GLC, and then compare to Lexus models. In many cases the quality/refinement gap is very big. Mercedes E > GS, Audi A4 > IS, Mercedes S > LS. (2) Technology. Let’s take, for example, infotainment systems. Go and play with Mercedes COMMAND, Audi MMI, BMW iDrive, and Lexus Enform. Look at media interfaces, intuitiveness, user-friendliness, fonts, etc. I think Lexus Infotainment System is getting better with each new generation, but again, it’s simply not on par with German systems. (3) Performance and Driving Impressions. Lexus cars have always been boring to drive. Period. In my opinion, Lexus cars lack soul. In terms of performance (acceleration, steering, suspension) and driving feel, Lexus cars have always been behind Germans. Lexus has never cared. Lexus had never made performance a priority until 5–8 years ago when they created an F brand and started playing with such models as IS-F, GS-F, and LFA. Sadly, but in almost all cases they’ve just played catch-up with Germans and are behind the competition. M3 E90/C63 W204 > IS-F, M4 F82 > RC-F, etc. Most Lexus models ride smoothly, they are very quiet, and of course, they are super reliable. And, if these are all your requirements towards a premium luxury car, you can ignore my post. But, if you care about how the car actually drives and feels on the road, how it steers, how the engine and transmission perform, if you care about the quality of materials used in the interior, if you care about smaller details, it’s very easy to notice that Lexus lacks refinement in many areas. I never forget the fact that the 2014 GS350 had interior door handles made of silver plastic imitating metal/aluminum at the time when all competitors had beautiful solid metal handles. Same thing may apply to interior trim materials. When almost all competitors use metal or solid wood in their interior trims, Lexus still experiments with plastic and its variations in a premium car segment. Are you kidding me? Engines. When all premium car manufacturers turbocharge and supercharge their engines across the board, Lexus still powers their cars with outdated NA engines and begemoth-slow transmissions. I think only last year they introduced their 2.0t engine to properly compete with Germans. I may go on and go on. Another thing that I think many people don't understand is what a premium luxury car should be. My advice is not to be afraid to try other cars in the same class. Touch them, feel them, most importantly drive them, and then make informed decisions. In 98% of all cases when you start talking about Lexus, people repeat the words ‘reliability’ and ‘longevity’ 157 times. But, does it really matter if you purchase/lease a new car with a 5-year/50,000 mile warranty? All modern cars are way more reliable than the cars from 10–15 years ago. Plus, consumers tend to replace cars every 3–5 years now. Needless to say, this lack of refinement doesn’t stop Lexus from being one of the most successful premium brands in the world. So, I guess the strategy has been right over the years from the business perspective. Conclusion: Lexus makes good cars and I totally understand why many people love the brand and purchase Lexus cars. However, it is unfair to state that Lexus is superior, feels more luxurious, better-engineered and/or more technologically advanced than Audi, BMW and/or Mercedes. It’s simply not true.

Has anyone ever made a car with the exterior design of a sports car, but the engine of a typical road car?

Multiple examples: The Lotus Evora features same Toyota 2GR-FE V6 from the Camry V6, mounted in an MR configuration. Early Evoras used a stock version of the 2GR-FE, but later on it was upgraded to produce more power. These upgrades included a supercharger among other things. GM LS and LT pushrod V8s as used in multiple Corvette generations are quite similar to LS and LT variants used in GM trucks, but their compression ratios are different. Moreover, high-performance LS and LT engines use aluminum blocks, whereas truck versions use iron blocks. So the Corvette may or may not count, and not just because pickup trucks may not count as typical road cars given the fact that they are, well, trucks. The Lotus Elise has, depending on the generation, used Rover K-Series and Toyota 1ZZ, 2ZZ, 1ZR, and 2ZR engines, all of which are I4 engines. The K-Series engines used were upgraded versions of the engines used in the likes of the Rover 25, while the Toyota ZZ and ZR engines used by the Elise were also found in the Toyota Corolla among other Toyotas. Some model years featured superchargers on the aforementioned Toyota powertrains. The Toyota Supra MKIV’s 2JZ I6 was also used in the Toyota Aristo/Lexus GS midsize luxury sedan as well as multiple Japan-only luxury sedans. The N46, M52, N52, N20, N54, B48, and B58 engines found in various generations of the BMW Z4 are also used in various compact and mid-size BMWs such as the 3 and 5-series sedans and X3 and X5 crossovers. And there are many more examples out there that I have not had time to list.
