mazda cx5 mods Q&A Review

What car do you drive and why is it your first choice?

2016 Opel Adam 1.0T, in the company of my beautiful and charming Triumph Speed Triple R the bike has a larger engine in case you're unaware ;) Opening salvo: My cute little Opel parks itself, parellel or reverse. That's really all I'd need to say in most arguments LOL I like small cars, they're more like bikes than big metal things… I had to buy a car for work, as part of my pay packet, tax etc. I looked at the Mini Cooper Coupé, the VW Polo GTI & Golf GTI, BMW's 118i & 125i, Mazda CX3 & CX5, Toyota RAV4 & Fortuner wagon, Ford Focus ST & Fiesta ST. The opel was just barely, the cheapest, it was actually a bit too cheap for my travel and expenses allowance, so ibtake a tiny hit to my annual tax return. So, why then? Well it was an unknown quanta in South Africa at the time. The engine was not something that could be pulled out and placed in a Minibus Taxi at a chop shop - precisely why I didn't even do more than look at the Toyotas, that 2.7D4D motor from the Fortuner fits straight into a Toyota Quantum, makes them prime theft and hijacking targets. The Mini and BMWs drove nicely, but no better than the Opel. The VW GTIs are nice enough, but also prime theft and hijack targets in South Africa. The Fords were fine too, but the Opel just felt more premium, Adams are very high spec little cars, and properly German. The fuel economy is great, even with South Africa's not ideal 120kph speed restriction I can do 530km on 1 tank (35 litres) of petrol while using the cruise control and the climate control. Though the car is optimised to have the best economy around 160kph~170kph. even at 120kph the economy is still better than my Triumph with it's slightly larger engine. It can do 200kph+ with roof racks fitted, not shabby for a 1 litre engine. The bluetooth system allows my phone and Garmin GPS to do their thing through the 5.0 (no subwoofer) surround sound system. The steering wheel is fully adjustable, but memory seats were not available for South Africa. The seats are extremely comfortable and well bolstered. The suspension is based on the Corsa OPC, making the 1 litre ecotec Adams handle very well, the ride is superior to the VW Polo GTI in every way, and equally dynamic yet more comfortable than the Golf GTI, unfortunately unlike the Mini Cooper Coupé there is no LSD sonthe drive out of corners is not as sorted. It has all the other gadgets you need, auto lights, auto wipers, a blind spot nanny, auto dimming mirrors for when someone is driving behind you with their brights on, tyre pressure monitors, blah blah. And then theres the thing where it can park itself… LOL As for the Triumph Speed Triple R… comfy, nimble, polite and easy to ride, stops well with it's easy to modulate Brembo M4 monobloc brakes, and the Ohlins NIX and TTX suspension components allow you to dial it in really well. It's a great bike even for inexperienced riders, yet when provoked, it will easily take a Nissan GTR in a straight line on the quarter mile, no mods required. It's a last generation bike, no traction control or ride by wire throttle, just a pure hand to throttle body connection. Though it does have ABS, a definite necessity given the standard tyres fitted to the R variant are Pirelli Diablo Super Corsa SP, a good tyre for the race track but not well suited to the road as they have issues maintaining temperature on the road.
