this is one car i have personally not been able to drive or own, mostly because they aren't available in the u.s. However my cousin who lives near Paris replaced his 2007 Renault megane with a 2011 RCZ and loves the thing. seems to be pretty reliable because he got it in 2015 but has kept it since and done road trips around europe piling the miles on it. he does very little work on it and is fairly forgetful when it comes to maintenance, so i believe that can attest to an concerns i would have about reliability. the car is pretty sporty but may lack in acceleration compared to other sporty cars from the same time period or class. all in all a decent car, maybe a budget friendly Audi tt, scrap the all wheel drive of course.
My current car, a 2017 Renault Fluence (the sedan version of the Renault Megane III for Europeans who are not Irish). The pros It has tons of space in the cabin. It is comfortably sprung, not too hard that you get shaken with every bump on the road, but not too soft that you feel like you’re floating. The engine makes it easy to cruise if you don’t want to drive fast, but at the same time I can drive upwards of 180 km/h (110 mph) without much fuss. The speakers sound amazing, so I don’t really need to buy aftermarket parts to make it sound great. Large boot/trunk - the biggest in its class on the market. Free service for 100,000km / 5 years, whichever comes first. By my calculations, I won’t have to pay for service until 2021 because I’m certainly racking the mileage - this is only my 2nd year but I’ve already driven upwards of 60,000 km. The cons Not sure whether its for the entire production line, or just my car, but the paint is easily chipped. My car looks like it went through a scratcher with all the large scratches all around the car. The rear view camera has a low definition. I may look into replacing it someday. No Android Auto, although it ,can ,be activated through a convoluted process using an OBD2 cable & an ECU reprogram - something that I can’t really do & nobody in my country can seem to do. It’s not easy to find the tyre size used by Renault. And if I do, it will be costly. Right now I’m using a tyre that has a slightly bigger width, but slightly smaller aspect ratio, which means there’s a noticeable gap in my wheel well.
My 2005 Renault Megane RS! Best fun I’ve ever had in a car! Had a couple mods such as intake and catback exhaust system! Wasn’t the quickest out there, but sounded mental and always put a smile on my face whenever I got behind the wheel! Only sold it as I was reaching over 200,000kms on the odometer.
There are a few that come to mind: 2017 Honda Civic Type R. 2014 Renault Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R. 2016 VW Golf GTI Clubsport S. 2006 Chevrolet Impala SS. Their top speeds are as follows: Civic Type R - ,169 MPH,. Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R - ,158 MPH. Golf GTI Clubsport S - ,162 MPH. Impala SS - ,154 MPH. ’17 Civic Type R ’14 Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R ’16 Golf GTI Clubsport S ’06 Impala SS

I really don’t care about cars, but I do need one. To tell you the entire story, I have to go back to 2006, in January to be exact. We had a Renault Megane Classic: Exactly like that, but in black. And my wife was very very pregnant. With twins. We knew it. We had ordered a twin pram. But we had listened to the salesman and not tried to put it in the boot when we had chosen the model, back in October of 2005. And when the pram arrived… yup. It did not fit. So we changed our car, because it was easy to figure out that it would be ,much ,faster than choosing and receiving a new pram that would fit in the boot - which, I must say, is not small. So we got this: In black. Again. The boot is just nothing short of huge. It’s a Renault Laguna. That one gave us good service until 2015, after putting almost 200,000km on it on top of the 90,000 it had when we bought it. The ball bearings in the front wheels were going nuts. So I went to the dealership near home to try, and hopefully get quickly, this: That is a Dacia Lodgy. With plenty of nice add-ons and options, it’s still really cheap. But the delivery was 3 to 5 months after signing the order, and I needed a car that was rapidly available. “Rapidly” as in “I need a car now”, so we got this: It was there, it has an excellent motor (1.4 liter with a turbo), six gears. And there was a one-year warranty that came in handy when the gearbox needed replacing! My next one could well be a Skoda as well. New or second-hand, I still don’t know.
Here’s a simple answer. It’s called PAS (Power Assisted Steering), when you turn the steering wheel a sensor causes a pump to supply fluid to a hydraulic piston to push the steering rack in the same direction, or by means of and electric motor in the case of my Renault Megane. Full on manual steering is just a steering wheel, a coupling shaft and a rack.
What is the most difficult car you have ever done repairs on? What made it so tough? My wife's Renault Megan Coupe/Cab. The manual was 'unhelpful' (it misidentified the steering wheel adjuster as the bonnet/hood, release) left me with no idea which fuse related to the item I was trying to fix, and even simple things like changing main fuses are stupidly difficult due to major inaccessibility.
What car do you have, it can make a huge difference. On Top Gear in the UK they did a comparison using a vw golf and (I think) a Renault megane. The golf was changed in about 5 minutes by lifting the bonnet The megane took a breakdown service 45minutes and they had to remove the wheel to get to the bulb via an access panel in the wheel arch. So it depends on what car you have
Yes! On the top of my head, I can think of the new Renault Megane RS and the 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R
