Hi, I think I can answer this question as I am a proud owner of polo (diesel) If you are planning to buy a new polo petrol (manual) it's a big No No. Firstly let me tell you the ,CONS,. The car is very noisy. New polo petrol is 1.0 litre which is underpowered. The previous one was 1.2 litre. Maintenence is very high. No matter what, your service bill won't be less than 11k. For even the smallest of the parts you ll have to shell out a lot. Poor mileage. You can't expect anything beyond 12 in city. My diesel car itself gives 13–14 at max. ( can't complain much since it is a performance car). Polo is a driver's car whereas the new polo petrol has failed to be one. Like every other polo, rear seats have very less leg room. For a top end it ll almost cost 9lakhs plus. Pros Safety. Sturdy and probably the strongest for any hatchback. Very responsive steering. Stablest among all the hatchbacks. Conclusion If you are planning on buying MANUAL CAR only check out ford figo, Aventura. These cars are sturdy, powerful and presently maintaining ford cars is cheaper than Maruthi Suzuki. (approx 3k per service for 10k kms or 1 year) I20 is overpriced(most Hyundai cars for that matter) and the 2018 model is a bad uplift form the predecessor. Jazz or wrv is again a let down. Personally I don't prefer Maruthi Suzuki, it is like coffin on wheels. Very unsafe and delicate. Fiat Punto has no resale and might soon go away like Chevrolet. Tatas are making wonderful cars but nothing in the premium hatchback segment. Tiago is too small to be considered premium. Brownie point tip If you are keen on buying POLO, buy GT TSI. That car is absolutely a gem and you will enjoy driving it. DSG gearbox is by far the best in market. Soooooooooo punchy and responsive. POLO TDI is also greatttttt, it is powerful and you ll have fun.
Hi my dear friend, It should be your first car in current trend and keep it with you for atleast 10 years. (already they will give 4+2 years warranty. There was 17% dip in sales of cars in the month of July 2019 and the dip is 30% in August 2019. But VW POLO is the only car which has shown the growth. Check out the link 👇 Volkswagen India shows growth in July despite market reporting downturn in car sales: Polo drives the growth The reasons People now are bothered about safety features and durability. Extremely strong body. People are worried about performance these days and not on money. 4 +2 year warranty. Service cost is around 11k for 15000 kilometers or one year. Which is very very reasonable. (in maruthi it will be around 3k for every 5000 kilometers 😀) Mileage. Look at the picture above. ,(around 21kmph on highways and around 15kmph in slow moving city trafic) Now polo comes with additional features like alloy wheels, rear wiper and fog lamps even in mid variant. This music system is just awesome. As the vehicle is heavy compared to other cars of same range, driving will be effortless. According to the current market trend, Polo sales are increasing which means you will never have a problem even if you want to sell it. All the best. 👍
For i20 1. Hyundai i20 gives you stunning look. 2. Few Extra features to attract more audience. 3. Mileage 14 to 17. 4. 1.4 Litre Diesel Engine. 5. Price higher then VW Polo. 6. It is just a general common running car. 7. Maintenance is nearly same as VW Polo For VW POLO 1. Safest Car with super safety features. 2. Premium Built Quality. 3. Very Strong, Robust & Durable. 4. Pure Corporate & Elegant Look Car. 5. Extremly powerful plastic used compare to i20. 6. Price Less then i20. 7. Basic Required Features all available. 8. Powerful 1.5 Diesel Engine. 9. Complete Galvanised Body. 10. 11 layer color coating for Premium color quality. 11. Super Strong & Powerful car. 12. Gives you Brand Value & High Status Feeling. 13. Mileage better than i20. 14. You will get VW Finance with best interest rate. 15. Comfortable, Proper Space as required. 16. If you are a pure driving lover, then this is a car for you. Conclusion : VW POLO is super car. Go for it. Hyundai i20 is just a model of attraction. People see outer beauty but what about safety? You keep both cars in front of you, you will definitely feel the strongness of VW POLO. I have written all above stuffs after doing Analysis for more than 1 month. As of now, even I am planning to get POLO. Note : If you wanna keep your car for only 5 years then any long term maintenance is never an issue.
As you are aware of the fact that Volkswagen gave their highest selling model in India, the Polo a slight upgrade. One of the main talking points of the upgrade is the introduction of a new 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is a BS-VI compliant one and comes from the family of the same pepole who won the title for making the engine of the year 2018. The petrol engine gives 110 BHP of power and replaces the 1.2 litre TSI motor. It is being offered with a 6-speed manual transmission only, meaning Volkswagen have preserved it for the enthusiasts. There are only small exterior changes in the car as compared to the previous model of the car. The Polo has been around for a time span of 10 years here and Volkswagen are still not keen on bringing the new generation of the car, which was launched globally in 2016. Thus, the design looks dated to me and I really hope that the automaker does something by bringing the new Polo soon. One thing i like about the Polo is its performance and handling, which is undoubtedly the best in its class. Put the Polo alongside cars such as the Baleno, Glanza, Altroz, i20 and Jazz, with the Polo being miles ahead of all in terms of driving dynamics. Thus it is more of an enthusiastic choice rather than a normal one in its segment. When it comes to safety, the Polo does not have any sort of compromises on that front. Global NCAP crash tested the Polo way back in 2014 and while the base variant recieved 3 stars, the one with airbags received a 4 star rating. Now that the car sold here is pretty much the same, the safety offered on it will also not feature any changes. However, the only difference between 2014 and now is that back then, airbags were not mandatory meaning that the result of the base Polo can be ignored. Yes the question did not mention about the safety of the car but i wrote it because that is the strongest reason out there to purchase the car. However, there are flaws like rear space is not good, cabin looks outdated and boot space is not sufficient enough. But when it comes to servicing, Volkswagen have a poor dealer network across the country meaning you may need to travel long distances in order to reach there. Service costs are quite expensive as well since Volkswagen cars are quite sophisticated and at times over engineered as compared to its rivals. This is possibly the biggest hurdle that comes between Volkswagen and achieving sales success. Prices for the Polo facelift start from Rs.8 lakh, which is on par with the Tata Altroz and Honda Jazz. In fact, even the recently introduced Skoda Rapid Rider edition undercuts it with a price tag of Rs.7.49 lakh (ex-showroom). But the Polo facelift did start off well considering the standards by selling 1,226 units in April 2020. This put the Polo at 13th place in the monthly sales overall and the gap between it and the top selling Creta was 2,086 units. Since then, sales of the Polo have consistently crossed the 2,000 units mark which has pleased the automaker. I honestly like the Polo for its driving feel and safety offered, but the infamous service centres from Volkswagen always worry me. However, if you are looking to purchase the Polo anytime soon please make sure you look at the overall factors of the car rather than making a decision on just one or two aspects. Picture Credits: Autocar India. Thank you.
For a person who love driving and appreciate quality, there is no other hatchback in this category which can give you premium feel better than Polo.(Add safety to the list too as the only car pass Global NCAP with four ) Driving experience can't be compared with any other car in the same category and even match Honda sedan in terms of driving experience. Speed till 140 kmph is easy to manage. Every steering input you make will give you feedback that of what actually happening on the ground. If you you are looking for a driving experience with premium quality of interior and exterior and don't mind little compromise on passenger space than go for the Polo Comfortline(high line is just waste of money for things you don't generally need ). 2 years 35k on odometer and still my car feels more premium than any out of the showroom car of the same category. But this come at a cost of poor service network ( in cities you will not face any issue and don't take it as poor service experience)and 20–30% high cost of repair.(compared with Suzuki and Hyundai) If you are looking for good looking, spacious and have budget for Polo Highline (approx 8 lakh) and looking for complete family car have a look for i20 sports and Honda Jazz. They might not be as much fun as polo can be but they do provide better space low service cost and best value for money. But before finalizing don't mind taking car for spin in highway and city traffic. Back in 2016 I had almost given up on buying s car and was on the verge of postponing my decision but then came 15 Km(city and Highway mix) spin in polo comfortline and the next thing I remember was paying my booking amount and applying for loan. Forgive my grammar and spelling mistakes. Edit 1 : Some spelling and grammar corrections.
you kind of have a ambiguous question so I’m going to say yes
Let me list the few i know, some may look very silly though ! Irrespective of the trim/variant, every Polo has a reach and rake (telescopic and tilt) adjustment for its steering wheel Every trim of a polo has a driver as well as a passenger air bag You can never identify what variant the Polo is looking at the badge. You can only know if it is a petrol or diesel car The body of every Polo is galvanized and has 6 years of anti corrosion warranty Every Polo has a rear fog lamp Every Polo has a height-adjustable driver's seat Every Polo has a Lane change indicator All 4 doors of a Polo opens to 90 degrees, ie three levels while most other brands do not open their doors as much as a Polo
I would recommend a Volkswagon Polo, if you have that much budget. There are many choices in the market. But nothing can compete the Driving pleasure of this German Beast. The stability control and Driving experience of a german build car is exceptional. Unlike the Korean & japanese cars including Suzuki(Maruti), which loses control on Highways after 110km/hr, Polo sticks to the road and gives you confidence to drive further and better grip. It never loses Control. I've taken it to 150km/hr and was still feeling like was sitting in 75km/hr car, except the things are coming at you a lot faster. And today they are even not short of any gadgets or accesories. VW has done really good work to enhance the user experience of their cars in indian market. Variants : It come in 3 variants Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. I'd recommend a Highline as it has all the features and bells & whistles to show off. Safety features are standard across all Variants. They had scored the best NCAP safety rating in crash tests in indian small car industry. Engine Options : MPI Petrol : It is the best option for low budget and value for money pack. The best performance on engine part and transmission is as smooth as butter. Accelration is quick and peppy just as a mercedes & saves around 1.25L from diesel variant. TDi Diesel : Although i am a petrol head, don't like diesel cars much. And as ,Vatsal Vats, pointed out rightly that, ",the degrading quality of air around us, I think it becomes our duty to do our bit for it.," I would also vouch for the Greener petrol cars. But still It is a better car., It is a turbocharged diesel engine from German automaker and can shame any competing car on the roads. It does provide better fuel efficiency but comes at a premium price. GT TSI Petrol DSG Variant : It is the beast of em'all. The Best engine tweaked to provide even better acceleration and pickup from the MPI petrol variant. It Comes mated with 7 speed DSG Automatic Transmission from VW. Man just go and take a test drive with it & believe me you'll buy it the same moment. Did i mention it does a 0-100km/hr in less than 10 seconds. It even has better fuel economy. That were my opinions on the best car in 5-10Lakhs category as the last one comes in 9.5L Update : Servicing : Servicing a German car Takes a toll on your Wallet, But still it is worth it. I'll explain how. You can check out the servicing plan for this car at ,Volkswagen Polo Service and Maintenance Cost, this link. The major portion of car servicing bill includes Engine Oil. It costs around 4k. Well Others charge 1k - 1.5k. You would ask why? Because the oil used by Volkswagen or all other German Manufacturers is Synthetic Oil, That has a property of lasting Longer and thus costs higher. You can compare the service intervals of Polo with other cars. It is serviced at 15000 kms or 1 year whichever is earlier, thats out of the showroom. That means you visit Service center Only once in a year or after 15000 kms. NO checkups or any other bullshit. While the likes of Maruti and Hyundai had 3 visits to the service center in the very 1st year, in the name of 2 free services & one paid. Volkswagen doesn't provide free service because its car doesn't need one. Regarding the Pollen filter or air filter in the service cost sheet, these components are not present in any other car in this class. They do the job of filtering air & foul smell coming into the car cabin through AC vents. Thus provides you better Overall experience of Driving or being Driven. As it is a consumable, it needs to be replaced. You pay for what you get. According to me, the cost of servicing this car is justified, & I've a disagreement with ,Vatsal Vats, on this matter. Happy Driving!
With due respect to both the other writers, I disagree. The Polo is definitely worth buying over the Swift. i will give my reasons below: Its a safer car by a huge margin. The Polo feels secure as soon as you sit inside it. The swift is faster and perhaps has better handling dynamics, but you can feel the difference even in a short test ride. It doesnt feel as planted as the Polo. The Polo has thicker sheet metal and the cabin stay intact even in massive accidents. The Swift sheet metal is thinner in comparison. Both cars are very cramped in the rear seat. I am 6 ft tall and in the Swift my mom sat behind me (shes 5 ft 5) and she felt the legroom was lacking. The Polo is slightly better than the Swift, but only by a small almost negligible volume. So I would disagree that either of these cars are good for a family of 4, unless they are all shorter than perhaps 5 ft 8. The ergonomics of the Polo felt better to be than the Swift. The steering of the Polo is flat bottomed and provides better grip whilst also looking gorgeous. This is totally subjective, but it looks better proportioned and simply nicer than the Swift. Most people will find it boring, but it simply looks more premium. There are many advantages of the Swift over the Polo but the only reason I would choose a Polo is because of the sense of security one gets as compared to the Swift.
Should you buy the current Polo? NO! Should you buy the next generation Polo (if it arrives in India)? Yes! The current Polo being sold in India is the 5th Generation, whereas the 6th generation Polo is already being sold in Europe, Africa and some Latin American markets for more than a year now. Volkswagen is very biased when it comes to the Indian market, it did not make India ready for the MQB platform on time and announced their investment of around 8000 crores as late as Jun 2018 which is quite bad as it will make the wait much longer for the Volkswagen enthusiasts for the latest vehicles equipped with high end tech. Now I come back to your original question ,Why should I buy a Volkswagen Polo?, Well if the 6th generation Polo comes to India, You should buy it for the following reasons: Build Quality: Volkswagen cars are made from galvanized steel which has anti perforation warranty of 6 years. They are highly robust. Safety: The 6th generation Polo has top of the line security features some are even standard from the lowest trims, like Emergency Breaking Alert, Fatigue Alert, 6 Airbags, Blind Spot Monitoring on the ORVMs etc. MQB Platform: The new Polo is based on the MQB platform which is also known as the transverse matrix platform which allows lesser cost of maintenance and provides more practicality to the car. High End Tech: The new Polo is having all the high end tech like virtual cockpit, 8 speaker beats audio, 8 inch touch screen, driving modes and many more. Thanks!
