the 3000 miles bit is bullshit. it was for engines in the 1950s when we didnt have the very fine manufacturing tolerances of today so you had more contaminants getting past the rings etc, fuel didn't burn as clean, filter media wasn't as good as today either and we have better quality oils today and the additives today are superlative in performance compared to the 50’s. and today we have high quality synthetic oils most modern engines require synthetic oil. nearly all japanese engines do. most vehicles today have 10000 mile service intervals for normal driving most also have a supplementary service interval at 5000 to 7500 for severe driving which surprises most people includes around town stop start driving. the answer of when to service your car is RTFM read the f#@king manual (the owners manual (owners handbook) that is) it has the manufacture recommended service schedule and the info for what they deem severe service. a service is more than just an oil change that is why its best to go to a family run full service workshop or the dealer workshop not these quick change places that only do half the job. yes the oil and filter change is the most important bit.
The French automaker is coming to India in 2021 finally. The automaker will launch its first car for India in the Month of March-April with its C5 Aircross. The fact is the car is assembled in Tamil Nadu, India Now let us talk about the car in-depth:- C5 aircross is a Mid SUV car that will directly compete with Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan, Jeep Compass, and Skoda karoq. Now the images of the Indian car version are out,. Estimate price is around:- 28lakhs (ex-showroom) Exterior:- The Aircross has a very appealing and unique design with a split front grille. The daytime running led lights running across the bonnet will definitely make it look more attractive on road. We can see fog lamps, a good chrome sort of treatment and more with comparison to human anatomy the nose(i.e the logo integration) is looking like someone punched it and made it look like this. *though the overall design from the front is Good* There is a Dual-tone option that will look more sporty. A, B, C pillars are also coated in all black with a chrome line on the top starting from between A and B pillar and continues on the C pillar and the also cover the windows from the bottom side. From the backside, the headlights of the car look similar to the ones in the Kia carnival. The overall look from the back looks very ovalish in design but very generous Other highlights include a roof-mounted spoiler, vents at the side, parking sensors, and plastic cladding at the bottom with non-functional chrome exhaust tailpipes. Interior:- The interior of the car looks premium It has a massive panoramic sunroof which brings a lot of air inside the cabin. There is a square pad on the steering wheel which has a lot of functions on offer and there is a piano black finish on the third center part of the steering wheel There a different styles of gear levers present and also the car has various drivetrain on offer (Snow, Sand, All Terrain, Standard, and Traction Control Off. ) The central console has an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 12.3-inch digital driver’s display features three different views: personal, dual, and minimum modes. Safety is covered by six airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, electronic stability control, and a blind spot monitoring system Notable features include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, seats with memory foam for added comfort, ambient lighting, air purifier, powered driver’s seat, cruise control, and a powered tailgate. The single powertrain on the C5 Aircross is the 2.0-liter diesel engine with an output of 175bhp and 400Nm of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters sending power to the front wheels. It is also equipped with four grip modes – standard, snow, all-terrain, and sand. Important question alert !!!!! Kitna deti hai? *mileage* This powertrain is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 18.60kmpl. It has a massive boot space on offer, the C5 Aircross’ boot is capable of accommodating 580 liters of luggage Well last but not least Citreon is known for its comfort after all. C5 Aircross will be no different, with the carmaker’s ‘Progressive Hydraulic Cushion’ suspension system. If your pocket has the depth to buy this go for it as these specs are good enough it can provide you with great comfort and many such things you know as well if you have read till here. Before buying wait for the aftersales performance(service, maintenance, parts availability, etc) by the company, and after knowing all this go for it. The overall package it provides is very good. Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson are premium compact/5 seater SUV where The Jeep Compass looks a big more of a SUV and the Tucson a Crossover (Which it is) Price wise, it makes Sense to go for the Jeep Compass as the Hyundai Tucson is pricy and it misses out on few features which the All new Verna gets so better take note of that. Other SUVs in this segment might also be the Mahindra XUV500 (Price wise) but its bigger and is a 7 seater. Volkswagen Tiguan is also a 5 seater SUV but is priced close to the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor. But, another important criteria is the after sales service network, where Hyundai clearly has a advantage over Jeep as of now. So get your requirements and selection criterias ready. Go for a Test Drive, finalise your budget and take the call. Happy Car Buying
This is mainly due to taxes and excise duties imposed by the government. Modi's make in India incentive means that the more parts of a car produced in the country the lower the price of it as imported parts are heavily taxed, this is why domestic manufacturers like Tata and Mahindra are able to keep such competitive prices while offering the same features as cars 5/10 lakhs more expensive than them, the Taxa Hexa and Mahindra XUV500 are examples of these, these are mostly completely manufactured in India hence the low prices. Hyundai, Volkswagen and other foreign manufacturers import many parts from abroad and domestically source a few products hence the higher prices than other cars for example the Hyundai Tuscon and the Volkswagen Tiguan all carry much higher price tags than the competition as they are only manufactured here but most of the parts are imports, this somewhat falls into the CKD sector but not entirely as many parts are still built in India. There are 2 types of imported cars that come to India one is Completely Knocked Down(CKD) and Completely built up(CBU). Most luxury cars under one crore are CKD as the car is imported as parts and assembled in India this helps to reduce prices by around 20% but is still very expensive as very few parts are made in India. The next category is CBU this means that the cars are imported as a whole and is very expensive as the government levies high taxes on them this is seen on very expensive cars like Lamborghinis and Bentleys. This is the tax levied on cars in their segments: and this is just for imported cars So to answer your question as to why cars are so expensive these taxes and excise duties combined with the high operational and production costs make cars extremely expensive in India. And add to this the per state registration (road tax) that is levied on cars which is between 10%-20% the costs just go up. one example: The 2017 Mercedes C250 Avantgarde sold in the USA is 25 Lakhs on road, in India the same car is 50 Lakhs this is not for all cars but is very similar for luxury cars and the more expensive the car the more the premium you pay for it. Another way of phrasing this would be compared to the nominal price of a car in foreign markets you end up paying double the amount or even more.(TheFortuner’s real price by Toyota is 10 lakhs the other 28 lakhs are taxes) Hope I helped (sorry for the long answer)
From the question, it says that you are looking a SUV in the budget of 20–30 lakhs. Jeep Compass It comes in price range of Rs. 15.35–22.11 lakhs. Looking at the dimensions, Compass is better than the Tucson and Tiguan for city drives as it is shorter in length, width and height as well. The compass gets its exterior as well as interior designs from the Jeep’s Grand Cherokee. In interiors it gets leather touches like on the steering wheel and armrests. It has the lowest wheelbase among the three but still it has enough knee room for the rear row. It also has the lowest boot capacity of 438 L. It has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It gets 6 airbags, TCS, ESP and ABS. But it misses the Brake Assist and Hill Descent which its rivals gets. There is another disappointment which is the sunroof. Even the top variant doesn’t offer any sunroof. It gets projector headlamps and LED tail lamps but misses the automatic headlamp feature which isn’t a much required feature. Coming to the engine, it comes with 1.4 L petrol engine which produces 158 bhp power and 2.0 L diesel engine which produces 170 bhp power. It comes with both 2WD and 4WD. When it comes to off-roading, it is ok types as it performs well in the segment. Its Mud mode makes it a bit easier to handle on muddy and slippery roads. But the 178 mm ground clearance makes a little disappointment. Hyundai Tucson It comes in the price range of Rs. 18.99–24.99 lakhs. The Hyundai Tucson with the hexagonal chrome grills and new LED lamps makes it look modern and more attractive. When seen from rear, one surely will misjudge it as a Creta. Also its new build quality is more smooth and the vibration are felt less as compared to its second generation model. In interior, it gets a 8-inch touchscreen on the dashboard which is easy to use with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It also gets auto headlamps, keyless entry, cruise control, six airbags, ESP. It gets leather touch on dash top, armrest, steering wheel and gear knob. Being the widest in the segment, it has enough space for the rear row. It has a 513 L boot capacity which is more than the Jeep has. But it disappoints as this too doesn’t get any sunroof. Coming to the engine, it gets a 2.0L four cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which produces 183 bhp power. It also gets a 6-speed automatic transmission system. It is little disappointing as it feels little noisier inside. It also gets driving modes, like eco mode and sports mode. For off-roading it is almost good with a ground clearance of 195 mm. Volkswagen Tiguan It comes in a price range of Rs. 27–31.5 lakhs. The Volkswagen Tiguan was meant to compete the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson, but with its high price tag even competes with the Fortuner and the Endeavour as an alternative in the price range of Rs. 30–35 lakhs. Also it competes as a cheaper alternative to the premium Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA and the BMW X1. The new Tiguan is more longer than the Compass and the Tucson. It also gets the longest wheelbase among the three. It gets horizontal grills that stretches to the headlamps. But that doesn’t seem appealing. In the inside, the dash design is simple. Also the seating height is better than the other two which makes us feel comfortable while getting in and out. The rear seats are also more comfortable than the other two. The black cabin always feels gentle. It also gets a boot capacity of 615 L which is more than the Tucson and much more than the Compass. It gets a touchscreen infotainment system which has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, which also gets a feature of mobile mirroring. This car can impress anyone with its features like panoramic sunroof, cruise control and the most important three zone climate control AC, keyless entry, six airbags, front and rear parking sensors and ESP as well. Coming to engine, it is gets a 2.0L Diesel engine which can produce 141 bhp power. It gets a 7-speed automatic gear transmission system. Hence, it is more stable at higher speeds than the other two. But still it feels a lag than the other two as it produces the least power. It also comes with drive modes like snow mode and off-road mode. But it’s ground clearance of 150 mm isn’t impressive. Now coming to the fuel economy, all three are claimed to give 16 kmpl mileage. But when you come to the success in market, it is the Jeep Compass among the three. My personal views, go for Tiguan if you want a comfortable SUV with a premium feel. Go for the Tucson if you want a perfect family SUV. Go for the Compass if you want a SUV to experience fun while driving and a mixture of other two. Hope this helps. Thank You!
The Compass is a seriously impressive SUV, that seems to take full advantage of Jeep's experience with SUVs. In fact, look deep into its headlights, past that seven-slot grille, and you can see the years and years of know-how shining through. Prices for the Compass diesel start at a very competitive Rs 15.45 lakh (ex showroom Delhi), with this top-of-the-line Limited (O) 4 X 4 going for Rs 20.65 lakh. What you get for your money is real off-road ability, strong dynamics and plenty of luxury and comfort on the inside. Sure, the touchscreen isn't really what's expected of a car in this class and there are important bits of kit missing, like a sunroof; and those interested will have to contend with Fiat's less-than-fantastic dealer network. Rear seat comfort could have been better for this segment, and those looking for a diesel automatic SUV will be disappointed as the Compass will get that only at a later stage. But this SUV's fundamentals are so strong, it's difficult not to compare it to cars from a class above, like the Volkswagen Tiguan which is a lot more expensive at where it stands today. And that's the real kicker – the Compass may just be the value luxury SUV you have been waiting for. It's a off-road car but not that much good at off-roading.
Better at what? Fuji Heavy Industries build durable and interestingly engineered vehicles. They appear to put longevity and durability above entertainment. I've owned and/ or driven Subaru and Saab (92x) versions. The Subarus (even the WRX STI) seemed rough and unsophisticated. VWs are very much like their German kin. They handle well, have plenty of power, but most importantly have that creamy ride that soaks up bad pavement with no noise or roughness. Just like all German cars, they also have sophisticated electrical features and devices. They typically fail at about 50,000 miles. They also will cost a fortune to repair, if you're lucky enough to find a shop that can diagnose and correct the problem. I would compare the two as the good but homely wife, versus the hot and high-maintenance mistress. It really depends on what you value the most.
WWII—“They ought to call it “The Unicorn War” because the only thing people seem to know about it are it’s Myths!!! Let’s address the myths of vaunted ‘German Engineering’ (sic) as I scream “WTF?” at my Volkswagen Tiguan… GUNNERY: The Matilda II’s Ordinance Quick Fire (QF) 2lb’r (40mm) was a decent mid thirties design that was adequate for the Matilda II’s Fielding Threats of 1939. At a barrel velocity of 794 m/s, it’s standard AP issue could penetrate 37mm @ 465m. Now compare the QF 2lb’r to It’s German Competitor, RheinMetal’s 37mm PAK or KWK 36 L/45.6 mm gun 764 m/s penetrating 31mm @ 500m and guess what? GB’s 2lb’r is slightly better!!! However Gunnery is but ONE Aspect of Tank Design, Armour & Speed & Reliability are equally important (Reliability? Ask me about my girlfriend’s Range Rover—I double dare you!!!) The Matilda II had 78mm rounded frontal Armour which meant Rommel’s Czech Pzkpfw 35(t) & Pzkpfw 38 (t) tanks, armed with Skoda 37mm VR 34/38s would bounce right off it @ 500m. Rommel may have been a great General but the man was a DEADBEAT—in France 🇫🇷, he went around the countryside “Bouncing Czechs” (Ha, Ha, Ha!!!). Even GERMAN’S MAIN BATTLE TANK, the PZKPFW III A-F armed with the above RheinMetal’s 37mm Gun or the newly introduced PZKPFW III G-H (armed with RheinMetal’s 50mm KWK 38 L/42 @ 685 m/s 42mm penetration @ 500m could only chip the Matilda IIs British Racing Green paint… Uhhh, Ask Rommel about the inadequate Matilda II tanks that he faced down in France, 1940 and he will roll his eyes and whine “Gott IM HIMMEL!!!” Germany’s Best tank, the PZKPFW III H (1940) only had 30mm of Armour vrs the Matilda IIs 78mm—you do the math!!! The only thing the Germans could do was ring the Luftwaffe and borrow an Auch Auch or three!!! Was the Matilda II perfect? Not by a long shot but Best is always the sworn enemy of good…
No.. Not a Prestigious Car Internationally.. Also since it is imported to India.. It is exorbitantly Priced.. A 2nd Hand Tiguan will still be very costly.. And the resultant maintenance costs will kill you Bad Idea Instead Buy a new SUV in the same Money.. Like Creta/ EcoSport and be tension free for the next 10–15 years
