Well, they both are excellent and come up with pretty much same features and reliability. So it’s difficult to suggest one over other. Just like Ford Escape, VW is also a fuel efficient car and fits perfectly for UAE roads. So I would suggest you to pick one that attracts you most. In fact, in UAE you can buy many other excellent cars at a highly reasonable rate. They all come up with extended mileage, fuel efficiency and of course, with comfort and eye catching designs that you might get yourself overwhelmed. So better you pick one based on your taste and budget. Hopefully it will turn out to be a good car for you. Volkswagen Tiguan. Why? Easy. Best warranty. 6 year 72,000 mile bumper to bumper. Plus, if you give it to your kid, they have the remainder of said warranty Very safe. Volkswagen manufactures their vehicles in a way that gives them very high safety ratings year in and year out Stylish. Touch screen display, leather seats and a massive sunroof are just a few of the many features AWD. Enough said. 2.0L 4cyl Turbocharged - great on gas, and quick.
If you are concerned about the budget segment, the Tata Nexon and the upcoming Tata Altroz are the safest cars in India. Both these cars have attained 5 star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. In the 10 lac above segment, the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan, Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia are those with 5 star rating to name a few. Although there are cars which has a score above 3 stars with stable body shell integrity, there are many others with unstable body and low scores such as Maruti’s Alto, Wagon R, Dzire, Celerio and many others. Not only Maruti Suzuki, but other car manufacturers like the Hyundai(Santro, Elite i20, Eon), Renault(Duster, Kwid), Mahindra(Scorpio) and Datsun(Go, Go+) are some of them. Even the iconic Jeep Wrangler which costs 55–75 lac rupees is also a big failure as it didn't score even a single star in the GNCAP.
now this is looking into the huge 8 ball from mattell: The problem with this question, is there are things that are designed to wear at the same rate as anything else, however there is no predicting when a particular component will fail on your car. If you perform the suggested maintenance as recommended in the factory owners guide, it should be long lasting. at issue is a 2013 VW Tiguan, now being 2019 this would make it 6 years old and 72,000 miles older than when it was new. Certainly due would be the water pump,/timing belt, along with front suspension rubber components, perhaps exhaust issues would creep in, or Brakes would be due to be replaced. But those are maintenance items. Nothing new. Exceptions would be a power steering pump, or a steering gear. It depends mostly on how hvrd it gets driven, ,and, what type of driving it gets. the “rust belt” states are not kind to the frames of these vehicles. Here is screen grab of the real world fuel performance., It shows the current population of 99 vehicles compared to the 2012 model year where there were 20% more samples to compare. as the bottom graph shows, it all depends on how you drive the car. Some specimens show excellent fuel economy at 40 MPG, while others are at 15. (most fuel ups are around the 24 MPG mark. This is consistent with a vehicle then that has one or two engine variant., The 2011–2012–2013 is the 3rd year running for the revised face-lift model. The biggest split, is with whether you have a diesel variation, where the engine gets 30 MPG versus the gas version only gets 23 MPG! over the life of the car (15–20 years) this is a significant cost saving. here from the eia (us) is chart of price variations: With the us average being 3.25 per gallon (gulf states much less), this would add up over time $$$. compared to gasoline costs: us average 2.85. Lets assume you drive 12,000 miles a year. For this driver the 15 years of operation at 24 MPG results in fuel consumption of 500 gallons on average for a total of 7,500 gallons during that time. If it was fuelled by diesel at 33 MPG this would result in burning 5,400 gallons instead. at a pricing differential of 2.50 for RUG versus 3.00 for D2, this makes the “cost price” for D2 over 15 years at current prices 16,300, versus 18,750. In the USa it seems hardly worth it. $2,450 over 15 years buys a lot of fuel. However, in other countries where the cost of Diesel is approximately the cost of gasoline, then (such as Canada) then Diesel is far better of a choice.
Having recently driven or ridden several small and mid-sized SUVs, I was surprised by how high the noise level was the Honda CRV. As for the Toyota RAV4, the ride was comfortable and the noise level was acceptable. If you enjoy driving, rather than view driving as a pain to be endured, I agree with Mr. Reznik and Mr. Ros that the Mazda CX5 is a joy to drive and returns exceptional economy for such a vehicle. Subaru is the company responsible for the current obsession with all wheel drive, and most manufacturers have joined the band wagon. I have driven Subaru vehicles in severe snow storms in Maine, and they are exceptionally good at maintaining traction in such conditions. But many drivers of all wheel drive cars do not understand that stopping distances on a snow covered or icy road is not enhanced by all wheel drive. Still, I see people who never see snow or ice buying all wheel drive cars because they believe such cars are safer. The only way an all wheel drive car is safer on a dry road might be if you drive at ridiculously dangerous rally speeds. I recently drove a base model 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan equipped with a 2 liter gasoline engine and a six speed automatic transmission. If I had to write an article for Car and Driver comparing the Tiguan to the CX5, I would find both cars superb examples of how it feels to drive a well designed car that has a great deal of interior space. I'd rate both cars as providing superior handling and braking, give the Tiguan a slight edge on quietness and ride quality, and the CX5 the edge for exceptional fuel economy. The Subaru Forester and the VW Tiguan have the best all around visibility. Thank you for your question.
Well, again, the simple Google search provides the answer...according to: https://www.consumerreports.org/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/cars-lose-cr-recommendation-over-reliability-issues/ The Tiguan had below-average reliability. Members who own the Tiguan, which was redesigned for the 2018 model year, told us that they experienced problems with the body control modules (which are the computers that control power components such as windows, locks, etc.), remote engine starting capability, and the headlights. A VW spokesman told CR that they were aware of these problems and had fixed them. “They have all been addressed and should not be a concern for anyone shopping now,” he said. “The headlight issue was addressed almost immediately after launch, for instance.”
In the past lighting circuits were simple. I could draw the entire lighting circuit on a cocktail napkin. Those days are long gone. A lighting control or body control module supplies power, ground or both to the bulb. The switch is just an input to the module. In some applications ,the incorrect bulb wattage spec can cause a fault code and disable the circuit. The dealer is likely referring to such a scenario. All aftermarket parts are not “junk". The problem typically occurs when someone makes a substitution because they are having difficulty finding the correct application in the online catalog. I have personally seen a person ruin a Jaguar Body Control Module with the wrong interior bulbs. If it is the $140 /hour labor rate you are trying to avoid , simply purchase the correct bulb from the dealership retail parts department. Perform the job yourself. And thank the service writer for the advice.
3000 mile oil changes are a waste of money.follow owners manual recommended oil changes.use API ratings as per manual.😋
Since you have asked for exchange price I guess you are looking to trade in for a new car. If you are looking for trade in you will get better rates from the dealers who sell cars of European or American make as they don’t sell as much as Maruti, Hyundai, Tata or a Mahindra. I got the best deal for my Skoda Rapid for a trade in for Volkswagen Tiguan with Elite Motors, Bangalore who is a Volkswagen dealership.
A lot of poor poor people are gonna tell you the Volkswagen isn't as reliable. ignore that, im sorry but they don't understand the flaws with the tests down to come up with reliability ratings. saying that, the Subaru is the choice. hands down. also, if possible get the outback, it is infinitely superior and nicer to own. the all wheel drive will give you a secure planted feeling where ever you are. the car will handle nicer then the tiguan, and the car will likely last you until your possible grandchildren are begging you not to give them your subbie because you still somehow own it. However as you said the Seat and Skoda ( get the skoda) will be similar to the Tiguan and they’ll have that nicer ride quality. but the skoda and the forester ( i promise the outbacks nice). I personally cant make my mind up, mostly due to being curious about skoda and seat because they aren't present in the states. but i know subaru is amazing.
