Skoda Kodiaq Preview Skoda Kodiaq, the first 7-seater SUV from Skoda India has been launched in India. It will be available only with a diesel engine and is priced at Rs 34.49 lakh (Ex-showroom, India). The Skoda Kodiaq will be offered in India only with a seven seat configuration and offers usable seating space in the last row of seats, even for adults. Let's take a look at its engine specs and features. Skoda Kodiaq Engine Specifications Engine Type 2.0-litre DQ500 Diesel Engine Displacement (CC) 1968 CC No Of Cylinder 4 Power 148 bhp@3500-4000 rpm Torque 340 Nm@1750-3000 rpm Transmission 7-speed DSG Automatic Skoda Kodiaq SUV comes with a 2-litre diesel engine that makes 148 bhp and 340 Nm of peak torque and comes mated with a 7-speed DSG (Automatic) gearbox. There is no manual transmission option or even a petrol engine option as of now but you do get all-wheel-drive. Just like the Tiguan, the Kodiaq is also based on the MQB platform. ARAI claimed fuel efficiency stands at 16.25 kmpl. The all-new Kodiaq takes on the likes of the other 7-seater SUVs like the popular Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubihi Pajero Sport, Isuzu MU-X and even the smaller Volkswagen Tiguan with which it shares its underpinnings. Tiguan is expected to be released by end of 2017. Pricing would be around 30 lakhs upwards ex-showroom. India would have the 2.0 litre turbo Diesel with 150 bhp that currently does duty in Jetta, Octavia, Passat and Superb, but with different state of tune. India will also get a option of 2 and 4 wheel drive. Gearbox would be the 6-speed dual clutch DSG that is currently doing duty in Jetta, Octavia etc. This car is based on latest MQB platform from VW like the new Superb , which contains superior handling characteristics.
Taos is smaller and more compact. The tiguan has a bigger engine. And that's basically it. They're both almost the same platform. Probably the same level of unreliability as well.
There is no question the Porsche Macan, of any trim level, is a sharp-looking mini-SUV. The Macans are known for amazing handling, better than average braking and those fetching looks. But for a teenager, unless they are working full-time at a hedge fund, the $400 oil changes (8.5 quarts of the good stuff), $1,500 for a set of tires, rim repair (low profile tires and little parallel parking experience, do the math), insurance and more very quickly add up to a few thousand dollars a year - and that’s if everything works perfectly AND they don’t end up hooning the car. Most teenagers, or their friends, will end up hooning the car at some point. So maybe the Macan isn’t the best option. But it’s built on the same basic platform as Volkswagen group family member the Audi Q5, maybe that’s a better choice? The Q5 has a little more interior and trunk space (no steeply sloping rear roofline and cut-off hatch) that makes it look a bit more frumpy. Engines are generally less powerful than those of the Macan, but make no mistake this is still a very expensive German mini-SUV for any teenager to own and operate and it probably still has too much power and repair/maintenance expenses will require serving many, many, many extra-hot nonfat soy lattes and dry almond milk cappuccinos. More than you think. And then triple it. And double it again. But if you’re dead-set (and you really shouldn’t be) on giving your teen a newish German mini-SUV when they get their driver’s license you can keep working the Volkswagen group family tree where you’ll find this… That’s the VW Tiguan. Now I’d never buy one, but this isn’t about me. Again, same basic chassis/space/shape as the Macan but at the bottom end of the brand hierarchy with even softer engine and transmission options and - hopefully for your sake - a warranty and a lower insurance rating/annual premium. No, it won’t be nearly as much fun to drive as the Macan but your teenager should have plenty of time to buy a fun car - with their own resources - in the years ahead. And they are more likely to get to those years ahead by not starting out with a Porsche.
Well JLR group was previously hold by a British Group, but in 2011 Tata Motors acquired JLR. Since then, the R&D Team, Core Team, Design Team, all are the same people and only Board of Directors have Tata Representatives. JLR has a superb brand value in European Countries and Land Rover is known for its durability. Talking about JLR in India, the vehicles manufactured by JLR are costly and mostly owned by Rich Houses Tata is not using JLR brand value in India but using it's components Tata will make its mark, Tata has been testing a New Luxury SUV which shares the same platform as of the Velar and also a new engine borrowed from the JLR Family (a 2.2L & 2.0L), which will make Profits for Tata as their R&D cost have been minimized. They are using the same technique which is used by Volkswagen Group of Companies- Volkswagen Tiguan Skoda Kodiaq Audi Q5 Volkswagen Passat Skoda Superb Audi A6 They all cars have something in common, which is their platform, these are built on the same common platform. So, Tata is using JLR indirectly. Thanks for the A2A
Most of Volkswagen’s transverse front-engined models are built on the same MQB platform (“Modularer Querbaukasten”, or Modular Transverse Matrix). This means that models across the VW group, from superminis to SUVs, share the same front axle, pedal box and engine mounting core. This includes the Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3 in both hatchback and sedan forms, as well as other models including the Passat, Tiguan, TT, Q2, Octavia and Superb.
It depends which Audi… an R8, no…. A Q5 however shares many many parts with the Volkswagen Tiguan.. A Q7 shares a surprisingly large amount with a touareg, and interestingly the Porsce Cayenne is also based on this platform. Now, to say that it _____ is made by _____ would be a huge statement. The more accurate statement is that Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche often share common platform for which they base their car on.
