volkswagen vento width Q&A Review

Is it worth buying a Verna Facelift?

Yes why not, Hyundai is kinda developing day by day, and they said they are mainly targeting people between 30- 40 yrs of age who are entrepreneurs mostly. Speaking about the 2017 Hyundai Verna, it would measure 4385mm in length, 1729mm in width and 1450mm in height, while having a wheelbase of 2580mm. It would be 15mm longer and 29mm wider than the ongoing model, while the wheelbase has been extended by 10mm. The company engineers have worked their heart out on suspension and Motor-Driven Power Steering (MDPS) systems. As for the cabin, the dashboard and seat upholstery would be in dual-tone black and beige theme with a 7-inch Audio/Video/Navigation (AVN) touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, there would be a new instrument cluster, multi-information display, leather-wrapped steering wheel and automatic ‘Clean Air’ climate control feature on offer in the sedan. As far as safety is concerned, the Hyundai Verna facelift would boast of dual front airbags and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as standard features, while the range-topping grade SX (O) is expected to feature 6-airbags, including side and curtain airbags. Mechanically, it would be available with the same set of 1.4L and 1.6L petrol and diesel engines with 5-speed manual and 6-speed manual transmissions, respectively. However, as for the automatic variants, the company might replace the 4-speed gearbox with the new 6-speed unit, which is lighter and better performer. The new ,Hyundai Verna mileage, might get a bump if Hyundai opts for the mild hybrid technology. New Hyundai Verna would challenge the likes of Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento in the Indian market. See a teaser of this car. Image source:-Autoportal

Which one is better and why, the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, or Volkswagen Vento (top models)?

Compare Hyundai Verna vs Honda City [2014-2017] vs Volkswagen Vento [2014-2015] 1 2 3 The mentioned below features are according to above car numbers ,,,(1 2 3) Features; Length (mm); 1: 4440 2: 4440 3: 4384 Width (mm); 1: 1729 2; 1695 3; 1699 Height (mm); 1: 1475 2: 1495 3: 1466 Seating Capacity (Person); 1: 5 2: 5 3: 5 Displacement (cc); 1: 1591 2: 1498 3: 1197 Max Power (bhp@rpm); 1: 121 @ 6400 2: 99 @ 3600 3 : 103 @ 5000 Max Torque (Nm@rpm); 1: 151 @ 4850 2: 200 @ 1750 3: 175 @ 1500 Mileage (ARAI) (kmpl); 1: 17.4 2 : 26 3: 16.93 The best is Honda city with good power and milage

I am planning to buy a compact sedan but I am bit confuse between ford Figo Aspire, Swift Dezire and Honda Amaze. Which one is the best?

I own Honda Amaze: Diesel Amaze Diesel engine is crude , noisy & not refined, even though its a HONDA its a new engine & still a work in progress, immature / new engine. Mileage : ( 20k + km covered, Diesel City : 13.3–13.7 ( Average , 20k km covered ) Bangalore City Highways : 17.5 mostly, it can go upto 20 & even 22 17.5 is achieved at 120 speeds averaging 70km/hr Worst : Highway : 15.5 ( spirited driving, 4th gear , real rash driving. Note : top Speed : 140km/hr Its best ridden at 120 km or below ( cross winds, wind noise, tyre noise/ road noise, engine noise, vibrations ) Amaze suspension is really stiff and u can feel minor ,,,, even Cats eye u feel it inside!! So : Amaze : Strictly NO other options : Swift Desire : proven engine sourced from fiat!!!, My friend owned the Desire diesel till 1.5 lakh kms ,, now upgraded to Vento & Etriga City : Below 13 ( He told 11–12 ? Highway : solid 20, or even 22.? A solid engine , but now showing its age, also design / looks ,,, hmmmm Ford Figo Aspire : Fastest diesel in this range!! also mileage figures are said to be good, My cousin owns the old Figo, but that’s the less powerful engine!!! My good friend owned a Ford Ikon long back, which he told gives 20 on highways, Once I took it for short drive around 120km- 140km really floored it, heavy foot, also did kiss it top speed at 150 range, but mileage figures around 12Km/l ( I believe it was 10km/l It gets scary at 150, tires were puny 14 inch ,, brakes ineffective,, when braking at 140, the tyres would screetch and scream!!! but figo ikon was a very good handler. My another cousin also had the same ikon diesel, which after some years,, was sounding like a Ambassador,, the DIESEL CLATTER!! Conclusion : I am not confident about Ford Diesel of previous generation after 1lakh KM, engine starts showing its age So, Even though Ford Figo Aspire is a good powerful engine with excellent mileage, but as the engine is new , I am abit skeptical, If u are changing the car after 3 -4 yrs or below 1 lakh km or 75k km I dont think it will be a problem General impression about Ford Diesel engines are they are not long lasting, shows age, Diesel clatter after some years !!! , caution : this is ageneral notion/ belief!! Example : I know of Innova over 2.5 lakh kms & qualis above 3lakh km still going strong! { Sorry : I think the Ford aspire engine is pulled from fiesta!!! oops my mistake, was it not competing with Hyundai Verna ? Bottom line, Fiesel Diesel is a GR8 engine!!} & Ameo engine from Skoda - Volkswagen, hmmm Difficult to pick , close call , but will go for Ameo, ( Reason : Ameo handles better, somehow Ford has managed to mess up the driving dynamics in Aspire, which it was famous for in Ikon/ fiesta. ( Ford was known as drivers Car,( great handling, u can really push it ,, hmmm,,, but not anymore!!! Winner : Volkswagen Ameo Design : Reminds me of old European Cars, I like it , Engine : 1.5l Diesel engine which is well proved in Skoda/Vento for years!!! Suspension : Might be a bit on stiff side like Skoda Laura, but at high speeds it would really show its potential. Amongs the cars u mentioned it has the lowest height , 1483, As I told every European/ foreign cars with low height, which help in cruising, high speed ,drivability, ( ford Ecosport : 1708mm ? oops => SUV Height ) Width : 1682 mm, ( better suited for 2 persons at back, 3 will be a squeeze ( Honda Amaze 1680 mm ,I have travailed with 3 person in back , not very comfortable, but u have to fight for shoulder space,, sqeezing, resting on other !!!! ( Ford Ecosport : 1765!!! ? ) Tyres : 15 inch ( Base TL is 14 inch,, please cross check it, Note : Amaze tyres are 14 inch!!! 45litre fuel tank ( Amaze 35l only ,so u get atleast 100–120 km extra range assuming ,, ) Conclusion : Winner : Volkswagen Ameo Runner Up : Ford Figo Aspire / Ford Ecosport ( Price cuts ? ) ( Not a sedan, but , take a test drive , u might actually like it. Note : 7 speed DSG Automatic ( Volkswagen ) had some issues in the past, I don’t know whether its fully rectified. Remarks : U never told about ur usage / monthly km? Go to Tata showroom & see Tiago & Hexa ( The tata have gr8 ride quality / very comfortable inside , for comparison sake ) Also >> Swift Desire also has good ride quality Tiago Diesel is the cheap Diesel at 5.3 lakhs on road , excellent ride quality / comfortable , ! I mean TEST DRIVE all the vehicles in the country! Also check the service interval & service cost

Which Sedan is better among Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, Maruti Ciaz, Toyota Yaris on Indian roads?

All the Mid size sedans mentioned above are best in some of their ways. Hyundai Verna: The facelifted Verna gets many options available on market. It gets the Diesel engine which is powered by a 1493 cc while the Petrol engine is 1497 cc and 998 cc (turbo). It is available with the Manual and Automatic transmission. Depending upon the variant and fuel type the Verna has a mileage of 17.7 to 25.0 kmpl. Overall a very practical, value for money and better handling. Honda City: The specs of 2020 honda city has been released a while ago. Though the engine details are yet not given but the length and width of the car has been increased. Company says that the new honda city is more powerful than it’s previous generation. Overall style is impressive and very reliable, long term. Many owners have still kept thier 1st generation models because of it’s reliablity. Build quality is also good (5-star ratingds in ASEAN Car crash test). Volkswagen Vento: Though the vento is a fun to drive car with only 1 petrol engine on offer. The Petrol engine is 998 cc. It is available with the Manual and Automatic transmission. Depending upon the variant and fuel type the Vento has a mileage of 16.09 to 18.19 kmpl. The reason why vento doesn’t have a good sales figure is that it lacks many features as compared to it’s competitors. Also there’s no update on exterior. Since many years, the Vento’s design has been same with only minor changes in the facelifts. Skoda Rapid: Same as the VENTO. Since it comes under volkswagen group you will hardly get some differences. The interior completely matches. The fact is that Rapid has more power than vento and also it’s more premium appealing yet it is difficult to maintain. Just like vento, it’s still in its same exterior since 2011 difference is only with some cosmetic changes. It has 1 Petrol Engine on offer. The petrol engine is 999 cc. It is available with the Manual transmission. Depending upon the variant and fuel type the New Rapid has a mileage of 18.97 kmpl. Maruti Ciaz: It’s Maruti’s Premium Sedan. Yet it has been compromised on it’s build quality. Stylish Exterior, Good Interior and a whooping mileage of 20.8–23.6 kmpl. Only gets a petrol engine of 1462 cc producing 104hp. It is available with the Manual and Automatic transmission. Also available in semi-hybrid. Toyota Yaris: The Yaris is a very good car. It doesn’t have a good sales figure because of it’s looks which many people do not like. Gets a 1.5 litre engine making 107PS and 140Nm. It is offered with a choice of a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT automatic. Overall it gets many safety features, loaded with plenty of comfort and amazing features such as rain-sensing wipers, roof mounted air vent, leather upholstery, rear sunshade, cruise control and 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control. This was my opinion of all these cars. Hope you like the Review.

Is Yaris better than Honda City V and Volkswagen Vento in mileage, performance, look, and maintenance (Vento giving 6 years free warranty makes it maintenance lower than Toyota Yaris?)?

Yaris production might be stopped soon and replaced with a version of Ciaz.I found the Yaris to be small in width compared to the competition. Volkswagen vehicle are a hassle to own the service warranty given by the company should be honoured by the dealer .If the dealer denies the claim approaching Volkswagen will not help as they hardly respond to customer issues. If you are getting the Yaris at great discounts as they are closing the production line and space is not an issue go for it else go with honda city.

Should I own the new Ciaz facelift?

Yes, you can own the Ciaz facelift. The main difference is it still houses the Fiat sourced 1.3L DDiS Diesel. It's rivals in the sedan segment all have the 1.5L Diesel variant, from the main competitor Honda City to Volkswagen Vento and also the Skoda Rapid. Neither does it have the diesel- auto combination. Due to the 1.3L turbocharged diesel, it churns out 88BHP of power and 200Nm of torque, near it's rivals. Dimensionally it does not lack behind with 4490mm in length, 1730mm in width and huge 2650mm of wheelbase with 510L of boot- space. It does have on paper mileage of 28kmpl for the diesel variant, and it'll prove to match those figures. Feature wise, Ciaz comes packed with 2- airbags, ABS with EBD, automatic climate control, engine start/stop button, rear AC vents and also cruise control. (Usually, people buying Maruti's tend to stay on the diesel side and also the Ciaz has its following there, hence answered with respect to diesel. Here is also a review about the petrol variant.) The Ciaz houses the K- series 1.5L VVT petrol, with 103BHP power and 138Nm of torque. Acclaimed mileage is near 21kmpl on paper. Dimensionally and feature- wise the car remains the same. But, the petrol variant does have Automatic transmission costing near a lakh more. Ciaz is definitely a great buy.

Is volkswagon Polo worth its money in India? what could be the other better options in India if not Polo

Polo is worth its money. Owning a POLO 1.5 Diesel, i can tell you the happiness of driving is simply unmatched. Pros: High speed stability. Car never felt nervous or strained even at 150+ Sharp handling, corners can be conquered easily. The solid fit and finish , from the dashboard panels, switches, to the thud while closing the boot or heavy doors , you would feel the quality everywhere , built like a castle to last. Looks are subjective, but the new smoked dual barrel head lamps and the classy lines, looks slowly gets on and you will fall in love as you spend more time. TDI Engine is a gem, does duty in VW Vento, skoda Rapid as well in different states of tune which makes it easy to remap to deliver higher power and torque which the polo chassis can handle. Torque must be the highlight of all VW TDI engines , polo is no different ,it pulls easily from halt in 2 nd gear with 4 people. 230NM torque in a hatch is good enough to give sedans run for there money. So overtaking is easy , just maintain the rev above 1400 and you can see the power of this marvelous engine. Its pulls effortlessly and no turbo lag. Minimalistic German design , and every thing at reach, never had to stretch. Noise insulation is good with all windows rolled up. Headlight throw is good, never felt inadequate on highways or city. Rear fog lamp is a very good feature , handy and safe in highways. To get a feel of platics quality used, knock the dashboard with knuckles below the front glass or any where, you can see the difference in sound it makes, a solid knock compared to swift, Honda amaze or others. No rubber damping on roof railing, and no gap lines running around the doors like you can observe in swift, it has a very clean side profile and flowing design to the tail lamp is very sporty. Boot lid is classy , the VW badge is the boot handle. For a car with such power , 15 inch 180 width tyre and the weight, I get an avg of 17.2 kmpl . In Bangalore- Hyderabad highway I could achieve 23kmpl. In City traffic (Bangalore) the least I have achieved is 12.5 kmpl. All the above with AC. Claimed figure by VW is 20.1 kmpl. Cons: Engine noise is high compared to counterparts, not something that worries me but is so evident as soon you start the engine. Service cost is high compared to other premium hatches of same segment The boot has no lights, becomes difficult to search for things, a portable torch is must. Second to third gear slot needs some getting used to, especially if are shifting fast. Legroom for tall person is not good, but I am 5'8 and I can sit comfortably at rear bench. Not a 5 seater, good enough for 4. The stock mud flaps provided for front wheels are very big, both on either side broke already when I took it in large pot holes. Not designed keeping our uneven road hump sizes and pothole.Thank fully it did not do any damage the wheel arch or body. I would recommend polo. It connects to the driver like no other hatch I have driven in the same league. It has all the necessary features and to sum it up - A solid, premium, fast, and a safe German hatch. Areas I am not sure of: Long term service quality of Volkswagen Other cars in my list were the following and why I did not go : 1. Punto evo : Too much chrome, turbo lag, some how did not appeal as much the Polo did. 2. i20 : I have observed all generation i20s age the quickest , what is new today will be outdated the next year. I did not like the highway manners, not confidence inspiring when pushed, so its more of a city car and is not fun to drive. 3.Swift : Too common, quality ,safety is no where near polo. Very good bucket seats at front , Great engine and gear box, but never felt like owning one.

How is Hyundai Verna 2018 ,best varient?

The all-new Hyundai Verna was unveiled at the Chengdu Motor Show earlier this year. The C-segment sedan, now in its fifth generation, has been introduced in India. This all new Verna is available in 12 variants, with two engine and two gearbox options. It also comes with an all-new design. The design elements are cued from its larger sibling, the Elantra. This characteristic styling marks the introduction of a 'family face' for all Hyundai cars. The hexagonal chrome-lined grille gets horizontal slats and the air dam gets a honey comb mesh grille. The profile retains the coupe-style sloping roofline and a strong shoulder-line that extends to the boot. The sleeker wraparound tail lamps come with a LED lighting signature. Size-wise, the 2017 Verna measures 4,380mm in length, 1,728mm in width and 1,460mm tall compared to its earlier stats of 4375mm, 1,700mm and 1,475mm respectively. Apart from that, there are also four new body colours to choose from. The cabin is done in beige and black with an updated feature list and some additional rear room. The new feature list now includes a bigger seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, ventilated front seats, rear AC vents, dual USB charging points, power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs and climate control. Hyundai has also added Eco Coating for scent control, rear curtains and a hands-free boot opening. The top-of-the-line model gets six airbags and ABS with EBD. The new Verna is powered by a pair of 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The petrol unit produces 121bhp of power at 6,400rpm and 151Nm of peak torque at 4,850 rpm. The oil burner, on the other hand, puts out 126bhp at 4000rpm and an impressive torque of 260Nm from as low as 1,500rpm. Both engines can be had with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. In the Indian market, the new Verna is Hyundai’s take on the growing C-segment sedan category. This part of the market has been gaining a lot of popularity lately. It takes on the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid. Go for it, Happy Buying

Is it okay if I upgrade my Volkswagen Vento tyre size to 195/65/R15 from 185/60/R15?

Upgrade form 185/60 R15 to 195/65 R15 is ,definitely not recommended., The diameter change is 5% which will definitely damage your power train. You may upgrade it to 195/60 R15 as the change in diameter is 2% and change in width is 5.1%
