Škoda Rapid is a subcompact car subsidiary of the Czech manufacturer Škoda Auto, exclusively for the Indian market, Škoda resurrected the Rapid nameplate for its similar version of the Volkswagen Vento made in India. Rapid is similar to VW Vento except for the grille, headlights, bumpers, taillights and some interior and exterior trim. The car is produced by Škoda Auto India Private Limited in Pune. The car started its production at the company's Chakan plant in Pune.
Out of the 4 you have listed, look no further than the Honda City if you want a petrol. But, if your locality/road of commute includes deep potholes and absurdly large speedbreakers, avoid the City since it has a perrenial issue of scraping its front bumper/running boards on such anomalies on the road. Among the SUVs you have listed, the Terrano is more suited to your case since you are chauffer driven, but Nissan after sales isn't as strong as Hyundai’s. Plus, the Creta is selling in large numbers and is a reliable pick, even if it is unjustifiedly expensive. So, we have: Honda City, if the road conditions are suitable. Nissan Terrano or the Hyundai Creta, Creta has more features and is more pampering, but the Terrano is more comfortable and can easily seat 3 in the back. Also take a look at the Maruti Ciaz, almost a lac cheaper than the Honda City.
No problems at all, when you are driving a safer, better car then you should not mind paying 20–30 paise per km more. I am driving one 2012 model tdi highline, done 1.30 lac kms. Recently I hit a swift from behind on a intersection, swift bumper came off and my vento got a small dimple on number plate, no bumper dislodging, no broken locks, nothing at all. Keeping in mind driving pleasure and occupants safety as first priority I use and recommend vento to all.
As far as the diesel variants are concerned both the cars offer similar equipment but SKODA offers it at a lower price tag When it comes to petrol options VW does offer 1.2 TSI as additional variant other than 1.6 MPI If you want petrol automatic than Vento has an edge over Rapid due to TSI and DSG combination. As far as after sales support is concerned both the cars now come with 4 year warranty and 4 years cost of ownership is nearly 30000 Infact both cars are same except having different bonnet, bumpers, tailgate and illumination. When you get behind the wheel you realize that it's the pretty same thing under different packing.
I own skoda rapid disel 1.6... Rapid and vento are 99% same car just bumper and healight is diffrent. Skods disel engine can last for 3 lack km. I have done 1 lack in two years but didnt find single problem in my car while u consider petrol maintance cost is higer than diesel... Both petrol and disel vento have same power and same torque so cant compare on this basis....disel have range of 1350 km in one tank. No other car in india have this capability. Petrol have range of 850 km. If u want good resale value, less maintainance and punchy to drive then go for diesel If u want less resell value, less cost of car, lil higher maintance, poor fuel economy and butter smooth engine go for petrol...
If you go to company’s workshop it will cost around ₹4–5 k approx but all depends on the size of hole in bumper.
Hi, You first need to list down your priorities. That is very crucial because each of these car is good in something or other. In lo oks the Hyundai Verna feels fresh and new as both the Honda city and Volkswagen Vento are quite old now and lack the charm of Verna. Though the Honda City has been recently updated and now comes with LED tail lamps and LED DRLs with some minute changes around the front bumper. Now looks are a very subjective thing and if you ask us Hyundai Verna looks the best among the lot. Get inside and one thing common is the color combination. All has the same black and beige theme. Though the fit and finish of the Vento is befitting but it again looks a bit outdated. All the car comes with touchscreen infotainment system but Verna is the only one here which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Also the Verna is only one with ventilated front seats which is a boon considering the levels mercury rises during Indian summers. All the three cars have near identical interior space but if you want to pick one the Honda City has the most practical legroom and is the most spacious of the lot. We haven’t driven the Volkswagen Vento yet but among the Honda City and Hyundai Verna, we personally liked the Verna more as it felt a bit more refined, also the steering response of Verna is much much better than competition and it easily the best steering unit across the segment. Also Verna is the most powerful one here with around 127 horses to play with. To our verdict we found that the Verna is the best overall choice followed by Honda City and Volkswagen Vento. Answer is simple: If you drive in bumper to bumper traffic for your office commute, go for Automatic (DSG). if you drive mostly on highways, manual should be fine. I own TDI AT DSG Vento and previously i owned Skoda Rapid TDI MT. I changed just because my usage was mostly office commute in city and occasionally on highways (once a month) Read my full answer here: Kundan Burnwal's answer to Is the VW Vento any good?
Vento no doubt will offer you more safety than Verna. If you believe that service cost is more in Volkswagen than its wrong as if you go for a service in Maruti Swift then you will have to pay nearly 6500Rs at 10000 km whereas in Polo will be nearly RS 10000 at 15000 kms. So I believe that I will be same when comparasion is between Verna and Vento. Moreover their are some bumper related problems in Verna. Being a Volkswagen user I am very satisfied with the company. Finally the decision depends on you. Both choices are good but I would prefer you Volkswagen.
