volkswagen vento paint Q&A Review

What will the repairing cost of a Volkswagen Vento be (there is a hole in the front bumper and there's nothing other than that. location: Chennai)?

Do this. Go to a local paint workshop. Tell the guy to dismantle the bumper and then take a threaded wire mess(jaali) and plastic weld it from the inside of the bumper. Next step is to take the putty, apply on the same spot from the outside and completely fill the gap. Using putty the painter will be able to completely secure the hole. Now apply a primer coat, let it dry and then apply three paint coats consecutively. Fit back the bumper when dry. This will cost you 800–1000 or 1200 max. Then, whenever you wash the bumper don't put a lot of pressure on that repaired area. Tell this to the car wash guy.

I'm planning on buying a VW Polo (Petrol). The only thing stopping me is the high maintenance costs involved. Should this single reason stop me or do I go ahead and purchase the car?

May be I can answer this. I used to be a huge fan of german machinery after all it is considered to be most durable, powerful and fabuluos in its own way. So I went ahead and bought a petrol polo. It is very comfortable to drive. Germans give you good engines thats what I believe. Rest competitors just try to compensate by giving you more & more features in their cars. So I went for polo in 2011. The car never stopped or you can say never let me down in terms of power, speed, pick up & rest all fields related to engine. After all it’s a sports car. But it has it’s cons. Germans don’t believe in repairing dents. so it doesn’t matter wether your car has a small or a big dent the company will change the whole part. And it is very costly. One door costs like 18000 bucks including 12000 for door dent so they put a new door 4000 for paint & 2000 labour and taxes. Maintainence & repairs too expensive. But then came this new problem this year. My steering started creating some sounds and it got stuck a few times. Went to a service centre they said that they obviously won’t repair so they have to put new steering column and rack. I said ok what is the cost? Estimate given to me was 80k-100k wow! I just couldn’t give an instant reply. I brought back my car searched for solutions in local markets. People whom i used to consider as experts in the local market went ahead disassembled the steering assembly but faced failure. Now because german parts are expensive and there sale is less no one in the market imports these parts. I lost. Once again I had to go back and spend 1 lakh on my car but this time I asked the reason that why these parts got damaged. (You will laugh at this) he told me this is because of road conditions in India. Then what do you mean by a strong durable car? Then I searched and found that people driving polo, vento, rapid all are facing this problem. I told you my experience you are wise enough to decide. Let me know if you need my help.

How strong is S-cross compared to Vento? I drive a Polo and looking for an upgrade. Shortlisted to S-cross (for low cost maintenance and service network) and Vento TSI (Strong German Built and confidence a VW car gives)

Considering your question I guess you are aware with the technicality of both vehicles. I would strongly suggest you to go with Volkswagen Vento TSI. S-Cross offers value for money and a peace of mind in owning the vehicle. But you will compromise with build quality and furthermore safety features. S-Cross is bit undepowered in terms of engine capacity. Maruti Suzuki can't provide the sheer build quality, paint quality and panel rigidness which Volkswagen can. There are lot of complains in Baleno of colours fading the shine in 6 months of ownership. Volkswagen generally doesn't changes the overall looks of cars in their facelifts or generation Update, so even after 5 years of owning the vehicle you will not feel that design is outdated or else. Hope this helps for you.

What are the problems of Volkswagen Vento?

T. he problems lie in the strengths. 1. The body is made from steel stronger than any other car in Indian Market due to which repair cost is very High. 2. Paint Job: The paint finish on the Vento is finished better than any other car, repainting of any part will not get you original finish regardless if you get it done from authorised service center. 3. Pickup and power: Unlike any other car of similar power, all the horses are available to pull your car. My 1.2 L petrol is quicker than 1.5 L Honda and 1.6 Verna (Petrol). There is always a chance of hitting someone from behind. 4. The DSG Transmission is the best in the world and expensive to repair/replace. 5. Resale Value is not great.

Which is a better car, Honda City or VW Vento?

I own both Honda city v diesel 2014 and vw vento 1.5 highline 2017. Looks: looks are subjectives, but the city is a comparatively newer design and the vento looks aged and plain jane compared to the city Performance:vw vento hands down,it feels and drives better and is considerably faster. Build quality:vw vento is miles ahead of the city in this .city feels flimsy ,gets dented even on the smallest of collisions(mine has been dented and painted for over 5 times in the ownership of 5 years). Mileage: Nothing beats the honda city it consitently averages 17–18 in the city while the vento gives out 13–14 .On highways maintaing speeds above 100 kmph city avg. 24 while vento is about 20–21. Maintenence:My vento is yet to get a paid service so i cannot comment on that but the city can surprise you with its low service costs . The last i remember the 50k service cost just Rs.3500 which is pretty low for a diesel car of this segment. Ride quality and comfort: While the ride quality of vento is marginally better and seats are also better the space on offer is no match for the honda city. The legroom in rear seats of the honda city can shame a few cars from the segment above. Both are very capable all round cars . While the vento gives driving pleasure,a sense of safety the city is extremely spacious, reliable and light on the pocket .it also has a higher resale value Therefore, if your need is a family sedan to drive in city nothing comes close to the honda in this segment But if you care about driving feel ,love to drive and usage is more on highway vento wins here.

Why do cars in India age faster than abroad?

Hello brother. The answer to your question mainly comes down to build quality. This is a well known fact that Indian made cars have far less superior build quality than the European and the American ones. In order to keep the cost of manufacturing and affordability low, Indian manufacturers use cheap quality plastics, thinner sheet metals and low rent paint. Due to this the body starts ageing faster and various rattles and squeaks start coming in. For e.g. My dad owns a Swift DZire zxi and my neighbor owns a Volkswagen vento. We got the delivery of our cars within a gap of 1 month and after all these 9.5 years, the vento has retained its crisp paint and solid feeling and my car on the other hand has aged a few hundred times more than the vento even though my dad keeps the car in a very good condition. Few other factors like temperatue and other things do come in play but the R&D of the abroad companies do test their cars on the same parameters. Few Indian cars like the Nexon and the Marazzo are trying to change this impression tho and they are succeeding in doing so. Hope this Helps!!!!

Why is Volkswagen Vento so expensive in India?

“U could get flipped over thrice inside a Vento and come out alive with a neck sprain v/s bang a pole and lose your life in another car of different brand in same price bracket. “ Also, the paint used is weather-proof, on all VW cars, and I have two. Even in sunny India, it didn't fade a single percent and still looks new till date. As a package it's not expensive. (I have the TSI variant of the Vento and the GT TSI of the POLO) *,Also, since it falls under 4+ metres, Indian laws subject it to a higher tax bracket raising the price beyond what you'd pay in a majority of other countries…*

I like the Volkswagen Vento/Skoda's rapid, solidly built, powerful diesel engines and their classy look. Are these cars really costly to maintain? After-sales reviews are bad on most websites, especially Skoda in India. Is this really true?

I really don't know how to answer this in any direct way I've had nearly five years of experience with a Japanese one German and one Korean car maker in the same period and believe me the build quality and offering of all three are very different. Whenever you buy a car from any reputed jap manufacturer be certain of the most cost effective and dependable also a vehicle that holds its resale value quite well these are some basics and with a Korean you can only expect a lot of features at fraction of cost but moderate dependability but due to their way of upgrading and marketting their products globally their vehicles don't hold their value so well but it's better than German and European manufacturers. Now when we talk about German manufacturers like VW (as they own Skoda it's one and the same thing) you can expect top notch quality standards not just the regular plastic rubber and paint stuff but also the safety and aesthetics have a very European feel to it which most consider classy and for that yes we pay a premium but then it's all worth it if you still get a smile when you grab the wheel after three years of the same car and always feel you're driving a premium car. Without the squeaky noices you'd get from any of your Hyundai or Maruti after a very early period of ownership . Even the service intervals are longer in these brands therefore if you value efficiency and productivity you'd be more happy paying the German brands premium.

Which car should I buy, a Volkswagen Polo Highline or a Baleno Zeta?

Baleno: Pros: ,fuel economy, performance, service network, resale value. cons: ,built quality, poor interior quality. Polo: pros: ,buit quality. it feels more solid. Brand value. cons: ,expensive maintenance. Service network is not as good as maruti. High repair costs. I was charged 5k for some paint work. They told me that its german quality. I didnt kno what to say. :( resale value: ,First gen polos and ventos, suffered worst depreciation. Since they are expensive to maintain and had some ,EGR problems, which cud cost upto, 30k ,repairs.
