Thanks for A2A. The most practical car that suits most of the people is the Honda City IVtech. It is highly reliable, is fuel efficient and has high reviving engine, has sleek gearbox, is high on space and comfort and has high resale value compared to its competitors. It also has an automatic(CVT gearbox) option, which is an added advantage. On the downside is the price, it is very expensive compared to others in the same segment spec to spec. City is indeed the king of this segment. But If you want a car that handles and drives like a sports car and not concerned about anything else, then I would recommend the Fiat Punto Abarth. This is a monster in a small package. Has a insane turbo petrol engine that handles like a sports car which will put a big and wide smile in your face. Downsides are the gearshift quality is not that good, bad resale value, not-so-good after sales etc. Now, If you want a car with technology and quality, I would recommend the Volkswagen Vento TSI. It has a world class and lightning quick 7-speed speed dual clutch transmission(DSG gearbox) mated to a Direct Injection Turbo petrol(TSI), that gives you a seamless driving experience. It also has excellent build quality compared to the competitors. Now, If you want a car for status symbol, space, comfort and reliability, then I would recommend Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8L. It is very reliable, has ample amount of space, has best backseat comfort, has high reviving 1.8 liter engine and has good looks. If you want an SUV, then I would recommend Hyundai Creta 1.6L Diesel. It has an excellent and refined diesel motor, has good space, excellent fit and finish, and excellent after sales.
Advantages of skoda: 1. Quality 2. Technology 3. Safety 4. Long lasting (you can go 2 lack km withou spending single ruppe on car except servicing) 5. Status symbol 6. Reliable 7. Higest milage in any segment Advantages of maruti: 1. Lot of service centers 2. Any roadside mechanic can repair maruti( its sad that maruti often stoo working in ghat sections) Disadvantages of skoda 1. Most of the dealers are cheaters 2. You dont get orignal part outside ass easily. Disadvantages of maruti: 1. Every maruti car get 0 safety rating in nacp 2. Cheap quality 3. Cheap service 4. Low milage Dont know why indian people think maruti is most cheap to maintain brand...maruti dont trust on own manufactuaring. They just provide 40000 of warrenty on their products. If you compare with skoda it provides unlimited km of warrenty. Maruti have got image that its reliable cheap to maintain so they dont care how they provide service. I have seen lot of maruti accident just because of bad servicing of the car. Every roadside mechanic knows how to repair maruti so people are thinking that its cheap to maintain. Just compare ciaz and rapid/vento Servicing of ciaz cost 7000 rs per 10000 km and sercicing of rapid/vento cost 8000 rs per 15000 km. But quality provided by skoda and volkswagen is far better than maruti. One more point you can go 1400 km in one tank in any diesel skoda if it is well maintained. Except skoda and vw i dont think any other car have this capability. I travel from pune to hydrabad and back to pune in one tank in rapid.
Dear friend, They are many cars below 13 lakhs from a hot hacth Volkswagen polo gt to status mark sedan skoda rapid and even cute sub four meter suv Ford EcoSport. Because you haven't specified whether you want a sedan or hatchback or an suv. I will try to select the best from all the three segments.. Starting from small, since you want below 13 lakhs which is a huge amount you can try premium hatches like Volkswagen polo gt if you are an enthusiastic driver, but maintening a polo is a bit difficult because of poor service network in India. My advice to you is please enquire about Volkswagen dealer at your place about his relation and behaviour with customers.. Next is compact suv segment : You can go for Ford EcoSport as you will get a high end model for 11.5 lakhs. It has excellent features like ford safety assist system, and 6 airbags, but ford's light steering wheel doesn't bring smile on many enthusiastic drivers..wait for an update of new ford ecosport 2017..One more negative of ecosport is you may feel the interiors boring and you can feel the dashboard is made up of cheap quality plastic. If you don't like these points you can try Hyundai creta. Medium size sedans : Honda city petrol.. Segment leader for its reliability. Hyundai verna.. powerful 1.6lit engine and vast service network. Maruti suzuki ciaz.. Hassle free service, great mileage around 27kmpl for diesel, lower maintenance costs. Volkswagen vento..Driving dynamics, comfort, safety rated 5/5 by ncap, looks, to stand out of Marutis and Hyundais. But high maintenance costs and poor service network in india. Skoda Rapid.. Excellent comfort, status symbol, interiors built with top notch quality plastic, Driving dynamics similar to volkswagen, powerful engine. But skoda's scary customer service in india and poor resale value. Thank you Have a safe and happy drive…
I will tell you a small story. Once upon a time there was a man. when he was six years old, his father passed away leaving him to cook and care for his siblings. In seventh grade, he dropped out of school and left home to go work as a farmhand. Already turning into a tough cookie. At 16, he faked his age to enlist in the United States army. After being honorably discharged a year later, he got hired by the railway as a laborer. However, he got fired for fighting with a coworker. While he worked for the railway, he studied law--until he ruined his legal career by getting into another fight. He was forced to move back in with his mom and get a job selling life insurance. And guess what? He got fired for insubordination. But this guy wouldn't give up. In 1920, he founded a ferry boat company. Later, he tried cashing in his ferry boat business to create a lamp manufacturing company only to find out that another company already sold a better version of his lamp. Poor guy couldn't catch a break. It wasn't until age 40 that he began selling chicken dishes in a service station. As he began to advertise his food, an argument with a competitor resulted in a deadly shootout. Four years later, he bought a motel which burned to the ground along with his restaurant. Yet this determined man rebuilt and ran a new motel until World War II forced him to close it down. Following the war, he tried to franchise his restaurant. His recipe was rejected 1,009 times before anyone accepted it. Sander's "secret recipe" was coined "Kentucky Fried Chicken", and quickly became a hit. However, the booming restaurant was crippled when an interstate opened nearby so Sanders sold it and pursued his dream of spreading KFC franchises & hiring ,KFC workers, all across the country. After years of failures and misfortunes, Sanders finally hit it big. KFC expanded internationally and he sold the company for two million dollars ($15.3 million today). Even today, Sanders remains central in KFC's branding and his face still appears in their logo. His goatee, white suit and western string tie continue to symbolize delicious Hey fried chicken all over the world. If you're overwhelmed by rejection or discouraged by setbacks, remember the story of Colonel Harland Sanders. Fired from multiple jobs, ruined his legal career, was set back by the Great Depression, fires and World War II, yet still created one of the largest fast food chains in the world. Sanders wouldn't let anything or anyone defeat him. I am telling this story because it was the best story of success after lot of failures. But only one in one crores people will achieve this kind of success. But remaining people after failure they will just leave trying. When I am in tenth class when I got less marks and got insulted I felt life is going lot harder for me. When I passed 12th and when I got 90% I thought everything in my life is going well. When I got internship in good company I thought everything going well. And when I am not placed in campus placements again I thought everything in my life is not going well. Actually it is not about situation, it is all about time. When I got maruthi 800,I dreamt about Volkswagen vento, when I got Suzuki Dzire, I am dreaming about fortuner. ,This is life we will not see what we have, we will only look what we didn't have. What I am trying to say is don't feel hopeless or don't feel you have very tough life, the real tough life is out there on roads. The person who asked this question know English and he is writing from smartphone or laptop. There are people who don't know all these. And lastly, whenever you felt hopeless. Just stay calm and don't talk more and when you talk, talk with more clarity and think twice when you talk. ,Let the time pass, everything gets right, All you have to do is don't get discouraged. THANK YOU. Rock on
Over the years, many automotive manufacturers have tried their hand in arguably one of the most competitive spaces in India, which is the sedan segments. Today, the segment has very much matured having many sub-spaces like compact sedans, mid-size sedans etc. This has in turn encouraged many manufacturers to contribute to it here. While some were accepted in open arms, rest turned out to be big failures, with some of them even making the company lose hope in the segment. In other words, the companies never quite recovered from the blow and looked out of sorts in the segment. Here, I will give examples of seven such sedans that did not click here despite the big expectations placed on it by the manufacturers. Chevrolet Aveo. The first car that I can think of for this list is the Chevrolet Aveo. Launched in 2006, the Aveo was a rebadged Daewoo Kalos which was then sold in many international markets. The Aveo was being marketed extensively as it was one of Chevrolet’s earliest steps in the mass market segment. Contrary to expectations, the Aveo failed despite being a promising product. The main reasons for its failure were a high price, less cabin space, poor reliability and possibly its bland design, which is subjective. Even factors such as a strong engine and decent equipment list could not save the Aveo from being a big monumental flop. It was finally discontinued in 2011 after selling a mere 184 units the year before. While on one hand Chevrolet got some early success with the U-VA and Spark, the Aveo rarely moved out from the showrooms despite being launched at around the same time. 2. Volkswagen Ameo. A product that we never expected would come to India but eventually came was the Volkswagen Ameo. The Ameo was basically Volkswagen’s attempt to rub shoulders with the big boys here. This compact sedan was launched here in 2016 and was a good attempt by the company, but wasn't quite one for the long run. It was also Volkswagen’s first major product launch since the Vento in 2010, so the expectations were high. On first instances, it looked like a stretched out Polo, which can be forgiven since most vehicles in this segment are hatchback derivatives. The Ameo managed to sell almost 40,000 units in its first 12 months of production, which were good given the struggles that Volkswagen had and still have here. Three years later, Volkswagen discontinued the Ameo on the back of poor sales. This is because sales of the Ameo really came down since 2017 and the Ameo kept selling in three digit numbers every month while most of its rivals sold in four. The main problem that owners noticed with the Ameo that cost cutting in it was evident and that it is the same old Polo with a boot and a cheaper price. The Ameo did have its advantages like good ride and handling but pepole stayed away from it owing to its high maintenance. 3. Peugeot 309. This is like a blast from the past for many Indian automobile enthusiasts. Many of you were aware of the fact that Peugeot had a brief stint in the Indian market with the 309. In fact, they were the first of the MNC’s to enter the country after the economy finally opened. Peugeot struck a deal with Premier to manufacture the 309. Firstly the 309 came here during the same time when Peugeot launched the 306 in Europe. In fact, the 1996 version of the 309 was roughly ten years old and was in many ways an outdated car. That was noticed by the Indians who in turn wanted the best from the west. However, the failure of the 309 is mainly due to the indoor politics from Premier who joined hands with Fiat despite being in a joint venture with Peugeot. This infuriated the latter and later Peugeot and Fiat battled it out in court as to who was at fault. Peugeot won the case but in a shock move, exited the country. Thus, the 309 was the only Peugeot product sold in India and today, a few of these are preserved by collectors and enthusiasts in their respective garages. 4. Hyundai Xcent. While the compact sedan craze took place, Hyundai was not to be left behind. The Korean automaker finally launched the much awaited Xcent in 2014. The Xcent itself is a name that makes us remember the popular yesteryear sedan Accent, which was a big contributor to Hyundai's initial success in India. However, the Xcent did not live up to the hype and it was more or less evident with its design. It did not look that interesting and also had less cabin and storage spaces in it. But it did sell good initially due to its reliability, features and brand image. But it never quite got on the level of a few of its competitors, who were regularly featuring in the highest cars sold monthly. Hyundai then rolled out the Xcent facelift in 2017 but sadly the situation of the car in terms of sales saw little change. In the end, the Xcent got discontinued in favour of the Aura earlier this year. But the Xcent did find favour with a few cab aggregators and could have been positioned today for that. But Hyundai decided to not take a risk on it during the time of the BS-VI emission norms and the car is now in many ways history. 5. Opel Vectra. I can say that the Vectra, according to ancient mythology is a car which is as powerful as it is mysterious. Opel launched the premium sedan in 2002 in a bid to preserve their premium image. The Vectra was a pretty good product having a good amount of features, refined engine and better ride quality compared to its rivals. It was also heavily based on the European-spec model meaning we got a car from Opel that very much suits international standards. But the Vectra was a CBU which meant it was expensive to get. On top of that there were the high maintainance costs which were levied from the automaker. Even those who brought it experienced problems that came from its software and controls which regularly kept the Vectra in service centres rather than their homes. It got discontinued in 2005, which was roughly a year before the Opel brand were taken out of the market by GM in favour of Chevrolet. 6. Fiat Siena. Fiat introduced the Siena in 1998 knowing that its success could make pepole forgive the brand for its wrongdoings in India. The Siena was based on the Palio sold abroad and even came with the option of a station wagon body form, known as the Siena Weekend. But the Siena and the Weekend never quite came close to being a success here which further dented the image of Fiat. The Siena was an outright disaster of an expensive product coupled with an infamous service history from the brand, not to forget that its earlier models came imported all the way from Italy. The introduction of a couple of more potent sedans during the same time sidelined the Siena before Fiat finally pulled the plug on it. Fiat managed to replace it with the Petra in 2002 which again was a product that did not click. The Petra was again a sedan derivative of the Palio and had a station wagon version in the form of the Palio Adventure. But the result of the Petra was the same as that of the Siena as customers slowly started to lose faith in the Fiat brand here. However, like the 309 the Siena also has a very unique following and there are instances of it being kept as collector's items. 7. Toyota Yaris. The last of the additions in this list comes in the form of a vehicle still on sale currently. The Yaris does exists today, but by only just. Launched only in 2018, the Yaris was one that could not set things up for Toyota despite the expectations it had. This may be because it doesn't have a few important features or its subjective design, but overall i strongly think that the Yaris is a great car that should be selling more than what it currently does. It does have its moments such as good mileage according to class standards, strong build and Toyota's trademark reliability and durability factors. Unfortunately, it has been overlooked by the customers till now which is a sorry sight to see. Toyota still do have a lot of time to correct themselves in this segment, but it may not seem that the Yaris would be the perfect model for that. There are some rumours of the automaker collaborating with Suzuki in order to develop a mid-size sedan for emerging markets like India. If that does turn out to be true, we may have to bid adieu to the Yaris for India. These are the sedans that I taught of including looking at them being good products. Likewise, there are many other sedans which did not get their due credit after their launch here. But i think these seven were worthy of writing about given the expectations placed on it. Overall the Indian market has been a mixed bags with quite a few takers of sedans present today. But back in the day, sedans were kind of a status symbol which used to sell in strong numbers. Now i think those days are gone and there is only the compact sedan space that is contributing to the overall growth of sedans here. Picture Credits: Google. Thank you.
Its all depends upon your priority. A second hand BMW can cost anywhere between 15 lakhs to 75 lakhs, you can easily buy a first hand Skoda or a Volkswagen for the same price. A Skoda Rapid or a Volkswagen Vento might be better option for someone who wants a sturdy car. Both Skoda and Volkswagen are European car companies and have a premium feel. We must also see that BMW also has its own pros and cons, Owning a BMW is still considered as a status symbol. Here are some PROs and CONs of owning a second hand BMW PROS Brand Value - It can turn heads Comfortable for driver as well as passengers More Spacious Better engine A classy appeal CONS High Maintenance Low mileage Poor buying experience More problems in longterm My conclusion is that it depends on person to person. I would personally suggest you to buy a first hand Skoda or a Volkswagen.

These type of questions arise in most of the Indian car buyers, because this segment is the most trending segment Indians have ever come across. Even many first time drivers buy cars in this budget because it signifies status of a rich guy. Now because of its significance many car manufacturers are making cars in this segment,so the competition is also very high. The popular cars in this segment are: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, ,Honda City,, Volkswagen Vento, Škoda Rapid and Hyundai Verna. The “BEST” depends upon the perspective of the buyer. You may buy ,Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, for its best-in-class mileage of 28.9km/liter. You may buy ,Honda City, just for its status symbol in India this car is popular among every car buyer. Volkswagen have recently updated their ,Vento, and this car is the cheapest German sedan you can get in India. ,Škoda Rapid, is a unique car to buy because you may not see this car everyday but this car definitely gives some competition to its rivals. Hyundai Verna, is the most powerful sedan in the segment and it has all the necessities to be an excellent car. I would advice you contact our team ,here ,to clear any doubts. You need to specify the requirements, because there is no such thing as ‘best car’ and all the cars has its downside and upside. However, the most practical car that suits most of the people is the Honda City IVtech.
