I must say, This volvo bus is such a gem amongst the trash in tnstc. Chennai to trichy in 5 hrs. Ac vera:-D

In TNSTC bus and the conductor told to this bus driver Volvo வில் பயணம் செய்வது வாழ்வோ.. சவோ..

It's sad to see that tamilnadu state transport does not run any Volvo buses unlike APSRTC & KSRTC. If it's a age old bus it has to be TNSTC.

Today travelled in TNSTC Volvo AC bus from pondy-Chennai on ECR. Good experience except for AC which was malfunctioning(high to be honest).

felt happy for AC Volvo bus service in chennai but no too sad for its poor maintenance...!!! Poor TNSTC

tnstc volvo bus Q&A Review

Why is KSRTC ahead of TSRTC/APSRTC? What should Telugu states learn from Karnataka in terms of public road transport?

Main reasons behind KSRTC success is its divisions according to the region, clean, security. There are 3 divisions in Karnataka RTC NWKRTC : North West Karnataka RTC NEKRTC : North East Karnataka RTC KSRTC : Karnataka State RTC (Rest of Karnataka) All buses travels all over the Karnataka and also to neighbour states, but they belongs to the region what it is written on the bus. Also they (normal buses) have different colors Green, red + white and red + silver accordingly as shown below. NWKRTC: NEKRTC: KSRTC: I don't know about others, I like the making style of these above buses even they are normal, just wow. And new model BS4 engine is plus point, fast pick up, faster(80–85kmph) and less air pollution. KSRTC won't put deluxe☺️, super fast🥺, ultra deluxe😲 etc just to make different bus. because I saw some Kerala and TN normal buses (I didn't notice AP/TS ultra deluxe bus's interior) with deluxe and ultra deluxe name patches that is something I don't understand what those stickers tells. When I was traveling from Bengaluru to Chennai via Vellur, bus name was ultra deluxe but seats were very bad, guess what? a single long seat for 3 persons. I remember these type of seats were used by KSRTC when I was kid (90s). I got shock not only for bus look but also for my money. When it comes to KSRTC ultra deluxe bus looks very differently from normal and it's worth for the name ULTRA DELUXE. Some buses with this feature are Rajahamsa, Vaibhav both are non-AC semi-sleeper. Rajahamsa,: Interior of Rajahamsa,: This is what we call as Ultra deluxe facility😎. 2. ,Karnataka Vaibhav: It has same interior as Rajahamsa. Karnataka has only one Corona bus, ,Ambaari,, with & without AC sleeper bus. Buses are very clean compared to other APSRTC/Tsrtc/Tnstc(i traveled in both). Bus driver and conductors are also more friendly. Karnataka has more number of Volvo, Scania buses than APSRTC/Tsrtc/Tnstc. AIRAVAT, ,a super brand of KSRTC, ,with different classes (normal, club class, gold class, diamond class, Bliss, superia). Airavat has tagline : ,Maguvinante nidrisi / Sleep like a baby,. All classes(even normal) of Airavat buses have AC system, ,Club class, and ,Diamond class, are having multi axle facilities where as ,Bliss ,and ,Superia ,(,travel with the comforts of home,) have chemical toilets, a pantry and WiFi system , passengers will get password for WiFi when they book ticket successfully. I don't think APSRTC/ TSrtc/Tnstc buses having chemical toilet, pantry, WiFi facilities, an effective reason to say KSRTC is best. All are shown below. Airavat Normal: Airavat Gold class: Airavat club class: Airavat diamond class: Airavat Bliss: Airavat Superia: Another smart connectivity to Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (KIA) from some major cities is ,Fly Bus, ,which is also having chemical toilet, WiFi and Pantry. Specialty of this bus is, it has GPS connection and you will get each information about your flight arrival and departure in TV. And no RTC has this type of connection. Karnataka has Asia's longest bus named ,Ambaari Dream Class, (tag line: ,Kanasinondige prayaanisi / Travel with dreams,). When you step inside this bus, you will feel you came inside a palace, just beautiful decoration. You believe it or not, these taglines will be taken from so many people, if anyone's tagline is selected by RTC, they will be awarded on stage of bus opening day. Apart from these things, Bengaluru has ,BMTC, (normal and Volvo) , Hubli-Dharwad has ,HDBRTS, (Hubli-Dharwad Bus Rapid Transport System) (Volvo) , Mysuru has ,MCTC,(normal and Volvo) commanly called ,Mysuru Nagara Saarige, and all cities have ,Nagara Saarige ,means, City tranport corporation, buses. BMTC Bengaluru 2. MCTC Mysuru 3. Hubli-Dharwad BRTS ☝️BRTS has its own specialty, it's like metro system, buying coupon, swiping/scan it, and enter the bus. 4. Mangalore-Manipal Volvo One more point to say KSRTC is best in India is, Karnataka is the first state to start city buses for all the cities in the state, not only for districts but including some major talluks also. That proud moment happened in Sep, 2016. Another thing is Karnataka RTC producing more effective and advanced buses which attracts passengers. Some days (may be months) before I noticed even normal buses (without booked) of long distance having WiFi just to watch voot videos, If you find a sticker like above pic, then that bus has WiFi. WiFi is limited to voot website only, but I enjoyed those journeys. But now a days I am not finding that buses, I think few normal buses have WiFi. When ever you book ticket even for normal bus, conductor will call and wait for you, this thing only happens with KSRTC people. What should learn APSRTC/Tsrtc/Tnstc: Keep clean,✨,:,I got more issues of cleaning buses from one of my AP friend. Tamilnadu also lags much more,, ,I traveled in Tnstc buses, buses are not at all clean. In some semi sleeper buses, i noticed, so much seats were broken in one SETC. In Chennai also I faced too much worst city buses. Attract passengers,🤗,: ,Making some effective and advanced buses may lead to attract the passengers, as I noticed, so much of my TN and AP/TS friends will go by KSRTC instead of their own buses. They will go by their RTC buses only when money is problem, yes KSRTC cost is high ,for long distance, compared to other RTC in India. While coming to advanced buses Kerala also lags behind, kerala RTC normal buses are very old technology buses and their look also same, a village transport buses KSRTC was using in 90s. Don't be rude,👿,:, As I seen in TN conductor and driver were not friendly in Chennai. One of my friend was about go to his native from Bengaluru to one city of AP, he didn't get call from conductor and even he didn't have conductor number, he reached just 2–3 minutes late, bus wasn't there. When he asked one AP bus controller in mejastic he said bus passed 5 min before, that too with rude voice even he asked in telugu. Now Karnataka has best transportation in India including its income output. And getting too many awards since a decade. Image source: Google images Edit : Two Airavat buses (one normal and one club class) completed 2 million (20 lakhs) Kilometres of travel without any damage (except daily check up). This shows how KSRTC maintaining its belongings. And KSRTC awarded for this by Volvo department in abroad. Edit 2: Happiness is getting 1K+ upvotes in Quora for the first time (Thank you so much) and unhappiness is getting only 1K+ upvotes out of 20K+ views (Not a problem)☺️☺️

What makes KSRTC special?

What makes KSRTC special? I don’t whether to answer for the Karnataka KSRTC or the Kerala KSRTC, but since both of them are KSRTC, I will answer both of them. What makes the Karnataka and Kerala KSRTCs special are the bus services and their attractive liveries they provide comparing to my home state Tamil Nadu’s Transport Corporation, TNSTC. This is how KSRTC Karnataka Buses look like which I saw frequently/know them well (Images are not taken by me): KSRTC Suvarna Sarige (I saw these buses a lot when I was in Karnataka and I was like wow as these buses looked much better than the TNSTC Buses). KSRTC Nagara Sarige (Saw a lot of them in Mysuru and I really loved them which was attractive even though I did not travel in them). KSRTC Nagara Sarige Volvo KSRTC Airavata (This bus used to be there in Chennai frequently, but it got reduced and Airavata Club Class is operated more frequently in Chennai). KSRTC Airavata Club Class (This is the bus type which is frequently operated from Chennai to other parts of Karnataka like Bengaluru, Shivamogga, and so on. This bus gives tough competition to SETC based on speed and quality. NWKRTC also provides service in this category from Chennai to Belagavi). KSRTC Airavata Diamond Class (My favourite KSRTC service. I saw this bus only once in Chennai which was supplied for the route to Belagavi). NWKRTC (Supplied mainly for the Northwest Karnataka Districts like Gadag, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, and so on). NEKRTC (Supplied mainly for the Northeast Karnataka Districts like Koppal, Bellary, Kalaburagi, Bidar, and so on) KSRTC FlyBus (I am really surprised when I saw bus while going to Mysuru): This is how Kerala KSRTC look like which I saw frequently/know them well (Images are not taken by me): KSRTC Ordinary Bus KSRTC Fast Passenger (Saw this bus in Coimbatore for the first time in 2016). KSRTC Super Fast KSRTC Venad (Saw this for the first time in Munnar when I was in Kerala back in 2015). KSRTC Malabar (Saw this for the first time in Wayanad District in 2015). KSRTC Double Decker (Even Tamil Nadu used to have it in Chennai back in 2007, but unfortunately went off roads). KSRTC Volvo City Bus (Chennai had this in MTC which began in 2009, but got scrapped off a year ago). KSRTC Non AC City Bus KSRTC Rajadhani KSRTC Super Deluxe KSRTC Super Express KSRTC Garuda These are all the types of Bus Services that I know and listed them of KSRTC Karnataka and KSRTC Kerala. What makes them so special is their diversity, cleanliness, and their attractive liveries. In KSRTC Karnataka, their services are posh like the Airavata which makes me feel so jealous of KSRTC as TNSTC is not doing that and are just launching some random bus which doesn’t do well after some time. In KSRTC Kerala, not only their diversity, their way of driving also surprises me where they are able to drive in the mountains so easily comparing to TNSTC Drivers. The TNSTC Buses and their drivers struggle to an extent in driving in the Mountains like in Kodaikanal and so on. The liveries of KSRTC Karnataka and KSRTC Kerala also makes it attractive to travel while TNSTC has only one or two liveries which completely degraded the attractiveness it used to have ten years ago. This is how TNSTC Buses look like now (Some of them are taken by me while most of them are not): Now you all saw the TNSTC and SETC Buses, you will come to know that they are not that good in quality, not that good in livery attraction, and not that diverse comparing to KSRTC Karnataka, KSRTC Kerala, and the TNSTC which used to be good 10 years ago. Only good thing about TNSTC now is that their tickets are very cheap comparing to private buses. So yeah, what makes KSRTC Karnataka and KSRTC Kerala special are the bus services, diversity, and their attractive liveries they provide comparing to TNSTC. I hope TNSTC learns something from KSRTC Karnataka and KSRTC Kerala in providing good quality buses, good services, and attract passengers with good liveries. Thank You for reading my answer. Thank You!

Has the AC Volvo bus service from Chennai to Pondicherry stopped?

The TNSTC AC bus services has been stopped recently. But, the PRTC AC bus services are still intact. You could also try car pooling from sites like ,BlaBlaCar, the trusted community for sharing your city-to-city car travel,.

Why doesn't the Tamil Nadu State Transport introduce Volvos and Scanias for long-distance travel like KSRTC, APSRTC, etc.?

My dad had been working in TNSTC as a Driver for 33 years and I think that makes me eligible to answer this question. 1.First of all, Tamil Nadu Transport corporation works on the money which they earn through their operation, and it used their own money to buy new buses for the corporation. They are getting money to buy new buses from the government very recently. 2. TNSTC employees did huge strike and didn’t operate buses and even many did hunger strikes , my fellow Thamizhians know about that ., The TNSTC employees did not get their settlement , PF and other money after retirement ,(My dad got retired on 2014 march and he got his full PF money by June 2017 after the strike ) and ,Current Employees did not get periodical hike as promised ., Every TNSTC employees will be deducted certain money for their Insurance and the corporation deducted the money from their salary every month but the Government did not pay that money to the Insurance Company . Simply they looted that for their personal use. My dad gave his blood and sweat to transport thousands of people what did he get in return ?? They cannot simply give the employee's money to themselves then how come they buy those Costly buses which cost in crores ??. 3. In every Court say District, taluk and etc There will be buses which was seized because the corporation failed to give compensation money to victims and their family which caused accidents. Corporation doesn’t mind losing buses then how come they afford to buy luxury buses ??? 4. ,Ticket rates are lowest at Tamil Nadu in whole South India , Except few Major cities in Tamil Nadu . ,Operating cost to Income ratio is too low and they cannot spend much money in luxury buses. 5. Generally people like to spend less money with desired quality, ,If TNSTC introduce Luxury buses automatically the ticket rates will be less than Private Luxury buses and it will affect the private bus corporation income. ,Many, ,Private Corporations have sound political influence, they will try to stop government in launching buses. 6. ,Many buses in Tamil Nadu are in worst operating conditions, instead of maintaining them and replacing them with buses in proper condition, buying luxury buses is not a good idea. Having all these difficulties TNSTC won’t operate luxury buses for now . I hope my answer covered your question :) Image source : Google

Why doesn't Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation have many Volvo buses with good infrastructure?

It is shortsightedness on the part of TNSTC, who are the long distance luxury carriers of the Tamilnadu government. There are enough and more people to take these buses, even at ridiculously high ticket prices. There are however many private bus companies that ply in Tamilnadu, who operate Volvos, Mercedes, and other luxury buses. It could also be that these operators are bribing the TN government officials to stall the introduction of their own Volvo buses. What is even more bizarre is that the bus fares of government buses in Tamilnadu are higher than the private carriers! Private operators have better buses that take you faster to destinations, for less. The government buses, for most part, have provided incentives for saving fuel to its drivers, and they usually creep along, eking out the last foot per drop of diesel, even though they waste everybody's time. This could be another reasoning behind not introducing Volvo buses - the obsession with fuel mileage. It is a fact that Leyland buses give nearly twice the fuel mileage as the Volvos, and even the AC Leylands aren't as expensive in terms of running cost as the Volvos and Mercedes Buses. The government could also be thinking in terms of the far lower cost per bus and intent on providing more buses by purchasing Leyland and Tata buses. Private operators take pride in getting people faster, and many nowadays, even with Leyland buses, can pretty much keep up with the Volvos.

How do I reach from Mysore to Coimbatore on may28? (no direct trains and travel buses available on this route)

Just go to the Suburban Bus Stand in Mysore ( Main bus stand). Platform 3, 4 and 5 are dedicated to busses which goes to coimbatore. You will find both KSRTC and TNSTC busses here. From morning 5:30 to 10:00 am, every 2o minutes you will get direct busses to Coimbatore and then from 12 pm you will get busses every 30 to 45 minutes. Ticket rate: Normal bus: 3 +2 seater = Rs. 150 Volvo Semi sleeper : Rs. 360 - 400 Roads are really good and you wont feel the tired even if you are going in normal bus. Happy Tripping!! :)
