Not at all. They’re ground-up engineered from scratch EVs. Just about all the other cars on the market, whatever they’re powered by, are kit cars by some definition. Car manufacturers that aren’t Tesla buy in everything but body panels (and even sometimes those) from various component suppliers. Sometimes the company that built the body also built the engine. Some cars are entirely built in someone else’s factory. The Toyota 86 is a Subaru. There are at least four different cars that are fundamentally a Toyota Yaris with different badges. A Volkswagen Crafter van is a Mercedes Sprinter with VW badges. And so on. Tesla undoubtedly buy a few components… things like connectors, fasteners, brake pads. But they actually make a much larger fraction of the car than pretty much anybody else.
I have a 2016 Toyota Yaris Hybrid, and according to the owners manual, this car is neither suitable for towing another car nor suitable of towing a trailer. However, this has more to do with the Hybrid drive than with the Yaris. According to Toyota Germany. a Yaris XP13 (built from 2010 to 2019) is able to tow a trailer without brakes and a maximum mass of 520 kg. If the trailer has brakes, it is 730 kg. Trailer hitches are available as 3rd party kits. You either have them installed by a car mechanic or you do it on your own. Depending on where you live, it may be necessary to have the installation certified and included in the car's documents.
It ain't worth over other competitors. Only things in its favour is great safety kit right from base model along with Toyota brand name and that's it. Verna City and even vento are way better cars from almost every other aspect. So don't fall for Toyota brand name like people did when Stops was launched and just make a rational decision. There are better cars out their which cost less ,equal ,and more as well but worth every penny. And guess what yaris engine and CVT is terrible, total shit(going by reviews).
It will depend on the make and model of your car. I can talk in more details about the Toyota Yaris, which I am most familiar with. Being low-cost cars, they would come with rear drum brakes. Although the top-grade model had read discs. So, it would always be possible to order the parts directly from Toyota (expensive!!!), or try to salvage them from a wrecked car (by far the cheapest option). For the Yaris, you need not just the wheel hubs and brakes, but also the torsion arm. Another option, which I took, is aftermarket. Here in Thailand there is a company named RunStop, which specializes in brakes, and does disc conversion kits for many popular models. I detailed the process here: Ultimate Yaris Enthusiast Site If I recall, I paid about USD750 for the kit back then (literally 10 years ago). Anyway, not sure if this helps, and as someone said in another answer, it may or may not be legal where you are, but I hope this gives you some ideas!
Whether a car can drive in teh snow depends on as much on teh driver as teh car. I’ve seen 4x4’s sliding and sticking on very modest slopes whilst other cars have passed by. Winter tyres a great addition to your winter tool kit but that depends on where you live, the frequency of snowfalls and sadly, teh ability of other drivers to keep going in these conditions.
My daughter has a Toyota Yaris. Instead of a spare wheel it has a tube of tyre sealant and a pump so it is already being done.
Fir enthusiasts, yes, not exactly “common” though. A quick Google reveals a cost of $40,000 to convert the definitely not classic Toyota Yaris to EV. That's a car that I guess costs about $14,000 new? When you can buy a brand new Kia e-Nero, which is better in every way, for about $35,000. Not going to be “common”.
Answer ofcourse differs on which terrain and what purpose you have for it but from the following: Audi 80, Audi A4, Audi A6 Avant, BMW X5, BMW 525d, Mercedes C240, Mercedes E220, Mercedes E220 Estate, Mercedes E320 4Matic, Mercedes 240D, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Yaris, Ford Mondeo, Ford Fiesta, VW Polo, Citroen C3, Peugeot 307, Ford Transit, Mitsubishi L200, Mitsubishi Pajero Shogun, Nissan Navara, Land Rover Discovery 2. I would certainly suggest the 525d if you have a budget which can accomodate random electrical faults but in return you can take roundabouts at 50mph and happily race an S63 AMG in London! The Mitsubishi L200 had a 2” lift kit, a remap and new offroad wobbly tires, with a full leather interior, it brought a new meaning to comfort on a mountain top.
As long as there aren’t radical move about car industry law in Indonesia (something like European countries who banned internal combustion engined car by 2040), in general anything will always be same. Car (passenger) industry in general are red ocean market, which is not a weird thing to burn more money for promotion for brand awareness and marketing. Those who only had a little money and poor sales usually just forced to retreat by market (like what happened to Ford, SSangYong, Chrysler in Indonesia) or taken over by other company (Volvo by Geely, Proton also by Geely, Nissan by Renault). If you want to enter Indonesian car market, make sure you have something to defeat Astra group (Toyota, Daihatsu, Isuzu) or Indomobil group (Suzuki, Nissan) which is always ranked in top 10 on Indonesian car sales annually. Chinese brand like Wuling or DFSK for example, they offered best value for money car compared to Toyota, Suzuki and Mitsubishi to steal the market (which is not been successful yet). Problems with Indonesian car industry is taxation where you need to pay car tax even before the car got sold. Another issue is multiple tax where CKD kit and pre production parts will be taxed as car parts then when its completed, it will be taxed again (depends on engine displacement, body style, etc.). Thats why in US, you could buy a decent Toyota Camry for about USD 17,500 (IDR 250,000,000) where in Indonesia, you can only got a basic trim level Toyota Yaris. Combined with lower income majority of Indonesian, Indonesian domestic car market is not a good enough place to invest. Imagine 4th largest population on this planet is only able to sell about 1 million new cars per annum. Since Indonesia is a low compliance market, you can just sell shitty car without any problems from government, consumer, or road safety agency. Your car is only required to meet basic requirements such as 2 seat belts (no problem that your car doesn’t have any airbags at all), have brakes (no problems without ABS, EBD, VSC, etc.), and meet equivalent to Euro 3 emissions standards since the available fuel is not able to meet the requirements of low emission equivalent to Euro 4 and up (whereas in a place like Syria, some say gasoline there is already supports the emission standard equivalent Euro 5/6). Your product has defect or faulty that can danger people’s live? don’t worry, the government absolutely will doing nothing about this (remember Takata airbag massive recall or recently Honda Civic Turbo’s engine problem in Indonesia. Because of this, some car manufacturer around the world opened factories here since they can just put their old production machines and still making money with it.
