Isuzu D-Max alarm and Central locking Problem: Hi Guys I was hoping you guys can help me. I have a 2007 Isuz... http://t.co/xnRD9ttEfG
I have two incidents, neither really important, but still in memory. The first was about 1975. The St. Petersburg VW dealership was now selling Subaru vehicles and I decided to check them out. I think we were looking at the engine compartment of a DL model and the salesman pointed out the horizontally opposed engine and told me it was made by Volkswagon since their engines were also horizontally opposed. I knew he was full of BS but let it slip since I was not really in the buying mode. The other was not a salesman but a service writer. I had a new 1986 Isuzu Impulse that I bought from a big Chevy dealer that had the Isuzu franchise too. It had a factory alarm system that activated when the door was locked and deactivated when the door was unlocked. (No remote then). The problem was that if you unlocked the passenger door and opened it the alarm would sound because of a fault. I demonstrated that to the writer and the first thing he did was shout to another employee “Did you know these things have an alarm?” They did fix it though.
Can’t remember if I answered this before so it might be a repeat. In 1986 I bought an Isuzu Impulse from a Florida Chevy dealer that also had the Isuzu franchise (I think GM owned part of Isuzu and hence the connection). It had a whole lot of bells and whistles including power door locks with a factory alarm. Mine had a fault with the passenger door alarm switch so that opening the door with the key would still set off the alarm. Not critical but aggravating and not right. When I showed the problem to the service writer at the dealership the first thing he did was shout to another tech ,“Did you know these things had an alarm on them?”, Luckily I had very few other problems in the 7 or so years I had it.
In the early 1980’s I was living in Florida and went to VW dealer to look at the new Subaru cars they were starting to sell. I had a salesman try to convince me that Subaru used a VW engine because they were both horizontally opposed design. Not quite the same but I bought a 1986 Isuzu Impulse from a Chevy dealer that also sold Isuzu. The car came equipped an alarm system but had a fault in that it did not disable if the passenger door was opened using the key; it would trigger the alarm. I took it to the dealer for repair and when I demonstrated the problem the service writer shouted out to another “Hey Dave, did you know these things had an alarm on them?”
