mazda nb headlights Q&A Review

What are all the generations of the Mazda Miata?

"NA" - 1990-1997 easily identifiable by being the only generation to come with pop-up headlights. "NB" - 1999-2005 related to the NA, but with clear headlamps "NC" - 2006-2015 clean-sheet redesign, more powerful "ND" - 2016- clean-sheet redesign, intended to be lighter than the NC and feel more like the NA/NB

What is the difference between a 1997 Mazda Mazda MX4 and a 1998 Mazda Miata?

What is a Mazda MX4????? Mazda MX-5 Miata: NA 1989–1997 The original with pop up headlights. NB 1998–2005 More modern front design like Mazda MX-6/MX-3.

Will headlights meant for a 2000 Mazda Miata MX-5 fit on the 1999?

I believe so, yes. I think the NB Miata (‘99 to ‘06) is divided into two series, and the ’99 and ’00 models are in Series 1. So yes, I think they should fit. I might be wrong, but I don’t think I am.

What is the best make and model of Mazda Miata for the money for a sports car enthusiast?

You really did not phrase the question well since the cars make is MAZDA and the model is MX-5 MIATA. Do you mean year series and trim version? The original Miata is called the NA which is the Mazda VIN ID. It has the pop up headlights and a lower power engine than newer versions. The NB went to standard headlights and was a bit bigger. The NC I think was bigger yet and had the most powerful engine. It also had a lot of luxury like items. I have a 2006 NC series. The newest is the ND and while about the same size has been made lighter with new engineering. I have found a wide range of prices for a used Miata while a new ND would be about $27K, more for the retractable hardtop version. So a lot depends on your budget and desires.

I just paid off my car and am looking to buy a NA or NB Mazda Miata as my fun second car this spring. Which generation is better overall, and what are some common problems I should be wary of when shopping?

To me a fun car is one that you can trust implicitly to start go stop turn and hardly need any looking ,after. In, 2013 I purchased a 1990 Mazda Miata which was ostensibly totaled by the former insurance company it took a high right collision pushing the headlight door and hood back but not affecting the front subframe.I managed to pull the front sheet metal back into shape replace the windshield and radiator and have been driving it ever since while at first I just drove it for the fun of having a convertible it has turned out to be my go to vehicle in the summer and a couple of times in the winter when the main car was having an engine ,replaced. It, is so easy to drive especially because it is the easiest standard transmission to shift and parking is a breeze even easier with the top down everyone smiles at it .My other summer car is a 1989 mustang five liter lx it is a very quick black with a rollcage it gets placed in second because driving it is work.Miata is ,RELAXING .IT, is just like a real car but smaller.

Should I buy a used Fiat 500 Abarth or a used Mazda Miata?

I own a 96′ miata base with about 137,000 miles on the clock and it’s seen better days. The miata is an entry into the sports car world. Its not particularly fast, but its fun to drive. And its manual everything. Manual windows, tranny, seats and top. If that’s your bag, then go for it. NA Miata’s- first gen cars sell for between $2k for a beater to $10k ish for a show car. NB- cars second gen with the fixed headlights run, slightly more than the NA, but they have less interior room. The NC is the third generation and cost about $7k-$18k- ish. To me, it feels heavier and not as miata-ish. I believe it shares its chassis with the Mazda RX8. The current gen car is the ND and it drives almost exactly like my 96 NA miata. Its stablemate is the Fiat Spider, which I haven’t driven. I had all the worlds intentions to replace my miata with a used 500 Abarth. Both were inexpensive and supposedly fun. Then I drove the Abarth. I was soooo disappointed. It wasn’t a sports car. It felt like an economy car with a very soft suspension, a clutch that was too light and it really just didn’t feel sporty. Yes, I had sport mode on. It was such a letdown.I did like the upright seating position though. It had a great view of the road. FWIW, with the soft top open, speed in limited to just 89 MPH. If it were reliable, which it’s not, I’d wholeheartedly recommend a Mini Cooper S or JCW. Its as good, if not better to drive than the NA miata, but be prepared for lots of issues. I had a 2012 Mini and it was a blast to drive hard, but it was problems galore :(

Which generation Mazda Miata is preferred and why?

I’ve owned an NA, two NBs (one of which I still own), and an NC. I think From a purely aesthetic standpoint I’d have to go with the NA. The pop-up headlights add character to the car and it’s fun to drive. Personally I consider the NB to be a bit more fun because it is a bit more powerful but let’s face it-it’s just not as good looking as the NA. It also requires premium unleaded gas, which my NA didn’t. It’s sort of like owning a Mustang. The real purists will go for ‘65s, but although each successive year brought improvements that altered the nature of the original car. I am, by the way, looking for another NA and it’s definitely a seller’s market at this time.

What is your biggest complaint/dislike of the car you currently own? On the other hand, what is your favorite aspect of your car?

I have a 2004 Mazda MX5. It’s great. It has the following after-market additions: rust It has certain other privileges of age: rough idle ill-fitting roof leading to much road noise missing roof catch replaced by bootlace sometimes cuts out when it gets a bit hot I don’t ,dislike, or ,complain, about these things much. They’re part-and-parcel. If I had the cash I’d probably sort them. It’s a very easy car to do your own work on. The thing I always think about it, though, is that it’s not as good as my 1992 Eunos, which had: shitloads of chrome more power pop-up headlights Every time I drive, I compare my current NB to that car, sadly missed. I’ve driven a lot of cars. The Eunos was my favourite and it’s 98% the same as the NB i have now, only it was in way better condition.

What are the maintenance fees of owning a Mazda Miata?

Depends on many factors such as the model of the car, your location and whether youre doing some of the work yourself. Overall they are considered to be reliable cars. I can only speak about the first generation (NA) and second generation (NB) as i own a NB and these first two generations are basically the same car underneath. They share many parts with other Mazdas of that era, for example the engines are the same type found in the 323. I live in the Czech Republic so prices may differ in your area, but in my 1 year of ownership and over 12′000 km driven a list of things i did: 2 oil and filter changes, around 20€ for 5l of Castrol 10W-40 and 10€ for KN oil filter, so 30€ (~33$) each. Denso Iridium spark plugs, 26€ (28$) total Purflux air filter, 7€ (8$) Nipparts fuel filter, 7€ (8$) Castrol 75w90 transmission and differential oil, around 28€ (30$) for 3l. 2x Osram Nightbreaker Laser headlight bulbs, 20€ (22$) Brembo front and rear rotors and brake pads, 180€ (195$) Brake master cylinder (used), 35€ (38$) IL Motorsport stainless steel clutch line, 50€ (55$) Continental Wintercontact 195/50 R15 winter tires, 250€ (270$) Quality summer tires should cost about the same, maybe less. A new roof should set you back from 250 €/$ for the cheap vinyl with plastic window to over 500 €/$ to a nice canvas one with a heated window. This is definitely not routine maintenance but something to keep in mind when buying a convertible. My 20+ year old soft top only leaks when i pressure wash it. Most of this was preventative maintenance, as i bought the car without a service history. These prices do not include labor, every location has a different hourly rate, most things i did myself as these cars are easy to work on so mechanics shouldnt charge too much for routine maintenance. Watch out for rust and remember that Miata Is Always The Answer

What is the most beautiful car in the world?

Geez, you want me to pick just one? Fine. Here’s a whole bunch. I’m quite fond of the ,2005-2009 Ford Mustang,. I actually think the V6 Pony Package model is better looking than the GT. And as long as we’re talking about Mustangs, it would be a crime not to mention the original ,1964.5–1966, model. So what else besides Mustangs is there? I think the ,2008-present, ,Dodge Challenger, is also a very pretty car. I’m not much of a Chevy fan, but I do love the ,1969 Chevrolet Camaro, (,not, the RS model - I’m not a fan of the hidden headlights). What about non-American cars? Well, it’s hard to beat the ,Jaguar F-type,. Something even classier? Gladly. ,Aston Martin DB4,. What about Japanese cars? Well, I love the ,1971–1977 Toyota Celica Liftback,. It looks like a tiny version of a ‘60s American muscle car. And how could I forget the ,NA (1989–1997), and ,NB (1998–2005) Mazda MX-5 Miata,? So far all of these are RWD sports cars. How about something FWD? This is a bit of an odd one, but… ,1993–1997 Ford Probe,. I don’t know why, but I love these. Peak ’90s right here. And I’ll finish it off with one of the best-looking electric cars (and the only four-door car on this list), the ,Jaguar I-Pace,. Some people think it’s a little weirdly proportioned, but I love the lines and proportions.
