fiat x1/9 supercharger

What would be your choice of a slow car that could be fun to drive fast?

I am the questioner, a retiree in Southern California desert. I have highway 74 or Pines to Palm highway 10 minutes from me, it goes from 100 ft elevation to 4600 elevation in 20 miles, see pic. below. I have been using a Lexus SC430 (280hps/3800lbs) to go up that road, so far my best time to cover that 20 miles was 20 minutes following a M5. SC430 has soft suspension and slow shifting so hardly an enjoyable charge up the hill although its 0–60 was 5.2sec, but so smooth and quiet one can’t feel it and it leans too much. I am looking for a weekend slow car that I can go fast with, to feel the on the edge without going at insane speed. so far, I came up with a few ideas: An early Mondial 8 convertible: 215hp/3500lbs, slower than the lexus, really slow at 0-60: 9.3s 1/4 Mile: 16.9s, but handles better, that sound and being a 4 seater. The most inexpensive Ferrari but still expensive and high maintenance. An early Fiat X1/9 with Honda engine swap: cheap car but expensive conversion, no resale value but what a pocket rocket. Otherwise a 2000lbs car with 60hps is too slow even for someone looking for a slow car. First Gen MR2 supercharged: Never drive one, but supposingly a difficult car to drive. Miata, I like the early NC, 170hp, 2500lbs. This may be my best bet? Porsche 986 or first gen Boxster 200hps, 0–60 7 sec, may be too fast? As you can see, I like convertibles, and cars with low center of gravity. Previous owned: Alfa spiders, Fiat 124 spyder, Jensen Healey, Mini Cooper S 1275, Z28, Vette, Datsun 280Z, all very slow by today’s standard.
