renault kangoo problems Q&A Review

Why has no one yet produced a hybrid or electric minivan?

They have, as far as I know. There are a few in Europe. Renault Kangoo, and Im pretty sure there are larger VW and Peugeot vans. That said it is only now that they are starting to become somewhat popular there due to adequate infrastructure. The infrastructure to allow, say a Tesla, to get from coast to coast in N. America (one main route) is not the same infrastructure that would be required to power vans to wherever they need to go in N. America (almost anywhere across the continent). So in Europe it is currently more feasible due to it being generally a more centralised, where recharge stations are closer by at most times. Consider that most vans are targetted at trades-people. If you have to drive around all day, it means you will likely be caught out having to charge your vehicle when you could be making money. If the electric vehicle is carrying loads then their efficiency and range will drop, etc. So, so far the disadvantages outweigh the benefits and thus the industry in most parts of the world hasn’t moved to eletric vans. It wont be long though, most large cities are now able to accomodate electric vehicles, so if it makes sense for a particular company or trades-person then it will grow. Electric trucks will be taking over soon as well, as they will be built for long range and are already equipped to be heavy (so extra batteries will be no problem). Not to mention in theory that they will get better overall economy and be a better option for transport companies. So too when infrastructure allows electric vans to operate freely and charge quickly (replacable power packs?) they will likely become the most obvious choice.

Are electric cars worth their price? Why?

If some one want a electric car you have sold current vehicle for some money or convert your fuel vehicle to electric by finding method from internet, purchasing the component and fix it or second method getting mechanical and electric support from a relevant company fuel to electric convert. According to the progress of the modern world their is third method in Europe it was converted the vehicle form “Transition One” company. After the 4 hours you can get fully converted electric vehicle. Now you can identified it was simple and easy minor time consuming translation. However when searching all the method through the internet it is not clear all the other device like ‘power steering’, air conditioning utility are given to the vehicle owner in the original way. But according to the approval and traffic law at Governor of France there seems to be no doubt that they will. The electrified vehicle can cover a distance of 100Km in one charging cycle. It seems that this can be done so quickly because the company removes the entire engine [sub frame] of the vehicle and replace it with a new one. Vehicles that can be modified in this way are: Renault Twingo II, Mini. Fiat500, Toyota Aygo, Citroen C3, Volkswagen Polo, Renault Clio, Renault Kangoo, Peugeot Partner. It is better to do this if the vehicle is about two years old. But that does not mean older vehicle can’t be made. But profit are slowly declining. If their older vehicle is a high quality Benz or Volvo electric vehicle, there is no harm in doing so, as their high finish and industrial condition do not degrade easily over time. However for someone who still loves their old vehicle, it will not be a problem. As the price of batteries goes down, it will possible to justify it. The French government appreciates this process and bears part of the cost. That is, in the end the consumer has to pay only $5000 or close to one million bugs in Asia country. Considering the environment parameters, this seems to be a much better thing than buying a new electric vehicle. This is because when designing a vehicle, all the accessories needed for the new design are used for the frame, battery and inverter, which add less than the amount of carbon released to the environment to the old car. In this age of declining demand for fossil fuels, consumer price are falling in European countries. In Asia this dose not seem to be the case as a large tax on fossil goes to the government. By saving the country the cost of fossil fuels, the consumer can save more than the ‘in-county’ tax on fossil fuels. If the falling fossil fuels are reduced to the consumer in the same way, the propensity to buy electric vehicles will decrease. This is what has happened in some countries. Far - sighted European governments impose other types of taxes on fossil fuel vehicles. Although it has not been seen for a long time, please keep the price of fuel in Asia at this level or increase it. Even then, electric vehicles will increase and the large amount of foreign going out of the country for fossil fuels can be reduce. Tesla have been conducted on this subject in various countries. They conclude that even though a country has 100% fossil fuel power plants, charging electric vehicles with the electricity it generates is more environmentally friendly than fossil fuel using vehicles. By the way, Austria, which has the highest percentage of coal power in Europe, has also been identified and encouraged to promote electric vehicles. What many people do not realize is that the engines of petrol or diesel vehicles do not run at a uniform speed. Then the normal efficiency of the engine decreases future. But a coal or other fossil fuel power plant always operates at a uniform rate. The other unthinkable is that the fossil fuel vehicles will have to slow down on the road or stop the engine running when there is traffic. That is, fossil vehicles are very inefficient when running slowly. An electric vehicles is not like that, When there is traffic on the road, the motor of the vehicle also stops. Only the air conditioner works. If you turn off the air conditioner, the vehicle will not take any energy from the battery at that time. This is worth and energy saver. In the latest electric vehicles, solar panels are installed on the roof to charge the vehicle’s battery to some extent,. Another important thing we need to understand is how “renewable energy” is added to transport.

How much research has been done towards hydrogen-powered cars? Are they viable?

They already exists actually… For example the Toyota Mirai and Renault Kangoo. ,Toyota Mirai – The Turning Point,. ,Renault unveils its hydrogen-powered Kangoo Z.E. and Master Z.E. - Easy Electric Life They are not really that viable ,yet,, because we don’t have a hydrogen economy yet. hydrogen has a lot of potential. Just like regular fuel, it is much more ,energy dense, than any battery technology. And thus, it is inevitable for use in transport solution that require energy dense energy storage, for example airplanes, but also large trucks and trains. The other advantage of hydrogen is that it is relatively easy to store copious quantities of it. This means that you can use it as ,buffer,, for when sun and wind are not producing sufficient power. You can also use is as a buffer for when the sun and wind are producing too much power compared to the requirement. Additionally, you could setup hydrogen plants in remote locations, for example the Sahara Desert, and then transport it to Europe. This allows very cheap and consistent production compared to mainland Europe. Also, hydrogen allows usage in for example steel mills for melting iron ore. Something that simple electricity doesn’t work for. When we finally do switch to a fully carbon free energy grid, we need hydrogen, (or some other synthetic fuel) as an energy storage. It simply cannot be done simply with batteries. And thus, a hydrogen economy will come to use in the near future. When that is the case, then hydrogen cars will be viable, because hydrogen will be plentiful and cheap. Whether it will replace batteries is a question… For consumer passenger cars, it is mostly a matter of economics. It really doesn’t matter if the car it 1500 kg or 2500 kg, as long as the power to weight is sufficient, and the price is right. So it might be that battery cars are here to stay, as long as they are cheaper than hydrogen. But for many applications, the battery weight does make a vital difference. It’s obvious for airplanes, but even simple delivery trucks have a problem when the truck itself gets too heavy, because then you don’t have enough load capacity anymore. This is why example Renault has produced a hydrogen version of the Kangoo and Master delivery trucks. The battery electric versions of the Master delivery truck had had a range of a mere 120 km. More wasn’t possible because then the batteries would take all of the loading capacity of the vehicle. The hydrogen version of the vehicle extends that to 350 km and can tank in 5 minutes. So here, it is not just a matter of economics, but of usability. For some businesses, the 120km is enough for daily work… for others, it is out of the question, and they need much more range. And then hydrogen version is required, even if is would be (much) more expensive. For now, we simple solve these issues with petrol or diesel versions of the vehicles… And thus, we can live with either batteries or fossil fuel. That will have to change in the future. And then hydrogen, or another synthetic fuel is absolutely necessary.

Would Europeans still buy Tesla if there are full electric cars from Volkswagen and Renault?

Renault DOES sell fully electric cars (Zoe, and the small ulitity vehicle Kangoo) Renault ZOE – Wikipedia My Renault-DACIA dealer in Switzerland usually has a Zoe in the showroom, thus no problem to buy one. Also, there is the small utility car Kangoo Z.E. (“zero emission”). Renault Kangoo – Wikipedia,. If I remember correctly, it is similar with Volkswagen; however I, as a DACIA user, am more familiar with the Renault brand. BUT Zoe, and Kangoo, are in another market segment than Tesla, at about half the price, and of course much smaller, too, at least the Zoe.

What are the strangest problems mechanics run into?

There can be all sorts of issues come up. Sometimes the customer’s reaction and description of the problem can be hilarious. One time a woman came in insisting that her car was possessed! This was due to lights on the dash doing funny things on her Renault Kangoo. Turned out to be a burnt out earth in a tail light assembly (really common). Another time a older gentleman had brought in his Volvo 240 because a bunch of things in the front corner weren’t working, after a little while worked out that his earth circuit wasn’t operating do to the fact he had just done some DIY panel beating and painting, and had screwed the earth into body-filler.

How difficult is it to travel in Italy by SUV?

Depends on where you’re going. If you want to drive into the mountains, through small villages and off the main roads, then you might have a bit of difficulty. I have two particular memories of this and I was luckily driving a small hatchback at the time: In the mountains in Abruzzo. I drove up through a small village whilst on a trip and suddenly the road got narrower and narrower. Before I knew it, I had to fold in both my wingmirrors because the houses were so close. One side was about 1cm from the side and the other side wingmirror hit the wall! Another time was over near Sorrento on the west coast. We actually took a wrong turning to get up to the top of a mountain where we had the B&B (amazing view, nightmare to get to!) and the roads were INCREDIBLY steep and INCREDIBLY narrow. By the time I got to the B&B my clutch was almost destroyed due to all the hard starts I had to do on very steep, narrow roads. That being said, I now drive around a Renault Kangoo. It’s a pretty big, wide car and I have no problems. Parking spaces in towns are fine, roads are wide enough and normal driving conditions are not a problem at all.
