According to Berita Harian, one such item is the dummy buckle, which was originally meant for plus-sized individuals, but has since been misused by people who refuses to buckle up while driving. By inserting the dummy buckle into the seat belt buckle, these drives can avoid the annoying chimes a modern car emits when

Keep it real: how to know if your accessories are original?

From aftermarket wheels, seats to steering wheels - chances are you can pick out a couple of modified cars just by looking around you. Check when you’re out and about, and you’ll see I’m right. Us Malaysians are a creative bunch, and it’s only natural that trickles down to our cars. As much as it’s cool to make the cars we drive truly our own, there are plenty of enthusiasts who go for low-quality, fake accessories. Sure, there are some people who ignorantly choose to get them, but a good majori

What's the history behind Malaysian number plates?

The ubiquitous number plate. These little black and white boxes on every road-going vehicle may seem like a boring topic to explore but look beyond the regulative reasons behind them and they actually have a pretty fascinating history. What purpose does it serve? Simple, really. It's a result of transportation being more accessible, and the government needs a way to regulate and control the vehicles pootling around. They're useful because in the event of an accident or a crime, authorities could

How to survive a car crash? Don't be stupid with your seatbelts

Have you ever come across kids jumping at the backseat of a car, while you’re stopped at a red light? This is one of my biggest driving pet peeves, people not wearing seatbelts whilst travelling in their cars. We have seen countless times, crashes on the road that have resulted in people getting flung out of their cars. Why? Plain and simple, they weren’t wearing their seatbelts. How can something so intrinsically simple to do become such a widely-ignored habit? Sadly, it’s down to both ignoranc

What are the factors that harm the resale value of your car?

As Malaysians, we like to squeeze as much money out of everything we own as possible. Cars generally depreciate 20 percent of its value in the first year of ownership. After that, the value of the car would drop 15 percent every subsequent year until the 10th year. By the 10th year, the car would be worth 10 percent of what it originally cost when you bought it. But depreciation value also varies according to car brands and models, as well as the geographical location, i.e, if you’re living in S

How to run in your brand-new car? Here is what we’re doing with our new Ativa

When you buy a brand-new car, you have to go through a run-in (or break-in) period for the first 1,000 km. Unfortunately, you can’t just gun it right after taking delivery from the showroom.
