How to choose the right 12V battery for your car?

If you drive an automatic car, it is impossible to push start the car. Your only option in case of a flat battery is to jump start the car and get a battery replacement ASAP. A weak car battery has obvious tell-tale signs like a slow crank and dim lights. Changing a car battery is a simple task, but if you don’t know what you’re doing, there’s still a high chance of screwing things up. If you have absolutely no experience in replacing a new battery for your car, here are a few guidelines to help

This Toyota Century Artisan Spirits is the Yakuza chariot of choice

The Toyota Century is a little-known name outside of Japan. The model was conceived to compete head-on with established luxobarges from Mercedes, BMW and Audi, with a twist. You see, where the German marques’ flagships are traditionally technological tours de force (think air-suspension, night vision, photochromic windows etc), the Century was curiously, a glorious hark back to regal luxury, with its own unique interpretation. Quilted leather seats too obnoxious for you? The Century is decked ou

Tom's tunes 2020 Toyota GR Supra and Toyota Century

Following their debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January this year, famed Toyota tuner Tom’s will open orders for their tuned 2020 Toyota GR Supra and 2020 Toyota Century this weekend. The Supra gets a new turbo, intercooler and an ECU tweak among other mods to bump the power up from 335 PS to 460 PS. Meanwhile, stiffened chassis and new Brembo six-piston brake calipers mated to 380mm discs means the newfound power stays in check. Unlike us (hopefully), when cars go on a diet they become wider.

Starting your car's engine and idling is not enough to charge the 12V battery

Malaysia is now into its sixth week of the Movement Control Order (MCO) triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. This also means that many cars have been left parked for an extended period of time. To be clear, leaving a car parked for an extended period of time won’t damage your car. It’s not unusual for new cars to be parked at a dealer’s lot for months before it is sold. My own 36-year old classic is driven only about once a month but it starts at the first crank every single time. The difference

BEVs with high battery capacity are not as environmentally friendly as you think says Mazda

In today’s trend of tightening emission regulations which require carmakers to lower their average fleet CO2 emissions, the easiest way to bring down that average is through zero-emission vehicles such as plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) or battery electric vehicles (BEV). It’s easier to get consumers to switch to PHEVs because it’s still a familiar machine to them as the main source of propulsion is still from an internal combustion engine (ICE). BEVs, on the other hand, are a little tri

BMW 530e plug-in hybrid battery modules can be individually replaced, RM 5k per cell

BMW 5 Series One of the concerns of owning a hybrid vehicle or a fully electric vehicle is the cost of battery replacement. FAQ: Is auto start-stop bad for your car?

Auto Start-Stop is a feature most of us despise. Cars like the Perodua Myvi and Perodua Bezza have this feature. With its jerky starts, a simple manoeuvre like the three-point-turn feels clumsy and unfamiliar. And with a belt-driven compressor, cool air stops blowing when the feature kicks in. The simple solution for most of us then, is to just turn it off. While some people would rather have sweaty pits to save the environment, the majority couldn’t be arsed to have the engine stopping and star
