This construction of a highway in Egypt is only 50 cm away from residential buildings

We understand that city infrastructure planning is a very difficult task, each location will have a specific zone to avoid or things can easily go haywire. While Malaysia has its fair share of poor planning structures *coughs traffic jam coughs*, nothing can compare to this highway in Cairo, Egypt that is built only 50 cm away from the nearest residential buildings. When the MEX Highway project was announced, many residents of housing areas that the highway cuts through were dismayed by the news

This article is contributed by the former editor of Malaysian Evo magazine, Daniel Wong, who currently resides in Australia. You can find more of his musings and articles on the motoring world at The Motor Muse. If there is one good thing about 2020, is that it is turning out to be a landmark year for the hot hatch. Earlier last week Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launched its 421PS Mercedes-AMG A45 S and 310PS A35. One can assume it will only be a matter of time till BMW Malaysia responds with its thir

Not your Hilux, the Hyundai Santa Cruz is a unibody, pick-up version of the Tucson

After nearly a decade of speculations, the Hyundai Santa Cruz is now a reality, exclusive only for the North American market. The production Santa Cruz wears the concept car’s name, and also the unibody construction, meaning it is closer to a Honda Ridgeline, or in our local Malaysian context, the Ssangyong Actyon Sports, and of course the Proton Arena. Regular pick-up trucks like a Toyota Hilux normally use a ladder frame-type chassis for superior towing capability, but at the expense of ride c

Why are there so many potholes in Malaysia?

According to an opinion survey by the World Economic Forum in 2019, Malaysia is ranked at number 21 out of 141 countries when it comes to road quality. We even surpass United Kingdom (37) and New Zealand (48), and we’re just 1 rank below Germany, the country famous for its Autobahn. It’s an interesting survey result, although, the validity is questionable. Yes, we do have good stretches of roads, but praise for our road quality is something we rarely ever hear about. If the topic of Malaysian ro

Hyundai Creta coming to Malaysia in 2022?

When Hyundai Motor Group first announced plans to build their first factory in Indonesia, many saw it as just the company expanding their business in the ASEAN region. Once poorer than Malaysia, how Korea’s car industry progressed further than ours?

Last week, we’ve chronicled how Hyundai grew from a small workshop to a world-class automaker. What was left out however, was the hows and the whys behind the rise of Korea’s car industry, which will be discussed in the following text. When Malaysia gained its independence, Korea was a failed state. It relied on donations from the US for 70 percent of its budget, and had nothing worth exporting. In 1960, Malaysia’s (Malaya) GDP per capita was USD 234. South Korea earned just USD 158 - poorer tha

The Proton Exora, like the current X70, is one of the company’s “why didn’t we build these earlier” moments.
